No more 3S on GGPO

You’re moving to USA sfiii?
Its still Japan no CD

Savestate replacement here worked for me:

I do not know how to get the USA ROM working, which will have to be more with save states again for “unsupported games”?
But that should not affect the offline, FBA for GGPO loading. Your ROM could’ve been incomplete or a frankenstein mix of things or having some files missing.

Pm me for info.

PM his dick.

google TRES ROOM

Really simple to do, though GGPO is very much laggy compared to OE on Xbox in feel…

Complete opposite for me 0_o

GGPO netcode performs better for me than OE netcode. but the game speed difference + Windows video and audio lag ends up having OE win out overall. Chun’s low forward or Makoto’s standing MP are still in the realm of possible to confirm on OE for me, but it’s a real challenge doing it on GGPO. probably doesn’t help that OE is connected to a CRT and my PC is connected to an LCD. only 1f lag on the monitor but I’m sure that adds to the overall difference in feel.

You’re not the first to tell me it’s the opposite. with good connections, it’s better for me on OE for online, don’t know why.

A PC LCD has generally no lag, no?

Hella lag. Anything other than CRT lags. (including Evo monitors)

GGPO 3S isn’t radically better than OE in terms of lag. OE feels much more delayed regardless what frame delay you set. GGPO is better because of matchmaking, text to talk, ping numbers, lobby, and a much higher chance of finding someone who actually may know how to play. But there’s still lag that radically changes gameplay. Can’t tell you how many times I do a meatie as they wakeup and I’ve been thrown out.

GGPO on PC runs at a faster speed than 3SOE, so the timing is different. I spend most of my time on GGPO, but play both. It’s irritating trying to adjust your timing between the two.

3SOE plays at a smoother framerate and looks cleaner than GGPO, but has terrible EVERYTHING (lobbies, no filters, matchmaking, glitches, wait times).

A lot of people like to say that 3SOE is laggy and GGPO technology is terrible. These people are playing on high input lag displays, using wireless connections (Just kill yourself), or have a bad connection/router. Also, people should put their Xbox into DMZ mode through their router. This removes any firewall protections for the device (which you have no need for).

Here’s the monitor I recommend for fighting games with low input delay. It doesn’t have HDMI, but the 23" posted here has lower input delay than its 24" counterpart:[details=Spoiler]

Really? I thought it was the opposite, i always feel 3S is more speed on OE, offline or online.

I agree with what you said both guys, i was just talking about the netcode/lag/delay.

everyone sort of jumbles all the terms and understanding of stuff.

your response time on an lcd monitor has to do with pixel transition. so like on older lcd monitors you will see lots of blur and ghosting. that’s the response time being shitty. input delay is not related to response time. response time is color transition, like from black to white. its the duration of that change from black to white. not the delay before it begins to switch.

its most often much more to do with the kind of input and output. vga is an analog signal. as long as your monitor has a vga input you can output from a 360 using vga, NATIVE. as in NO conversion. without any conversion to be made the only other factor is that response time. and response time is NOT input delay. as long as you’re like 2-5ms you won’t see ghosting and i dont know of really any monitors that are more than 5ms response time anymore.

it has nothing to do with crt v lcd. that’s response time and refresh rate. which while related, are not responsible for input delay (the thing people are actually affected by). you can absolutely have lcd hooked up without any input delay. why it is that big events like EVO aren’t all run on 360s outputting via VGA to VGA capable monitors is completely beyond me. seems incredibly stupid.

Me too .
3SOE is a port and not CPS 3 emulation . So it has glitchs , like speed and dropped EX , which CPS 3 version don’t have .
And Iron Galaxy says that they won’t fix it .

360 optimal connection is done through HDMI on HDTV. You should select the resolution on XBOX settings that matches
your HDTV native resolution for best results.
Same thing applies for PCs, as well. However, decent graphics card (HMDI port) and a quality HD monitor do make difference in gaming or movies(1080p)
VGA to VGA is both outdated and visual laggy due to low bandwith support.
NOT good for HD LCDs (Downgrades the Monitor). You need HDMI to HDMI cable.

if we accept Tebbo’s post as true, why do we see such a variety in visual lag on LCD monitors? Not just random people testing either, but prad.de using all their fancy tools. very rare to find an LCD monitor that approaches lagless regardless of what connection you use. and of course HDTVs with all their post-processing that you can sometimes remove, sometimes not. those are a separate beast though.

but even if you say “ok we’ll ignore the monitor” you still have some problems. like having to buffer video a minimum of 1f before it hits the monitor, Windows sitting on inputs from usb before sending it to FBA, or having to buffer sound (I can’t get audio buffer below 3f without major crackling, can any of you?). it’s no secret that when you add audio/video/input all together Windows is not great at creating a lagless environment, even if FBA doesn’t add lag on top of that like they claim.

and beyond that FBA is still running faster than CPS3 and OE as far as anyone knows. I think GGPO has some obvious advantages (better netcode, better competition, no EX drops, more faithful to arcade outside speed) but it still feels worse to actually play. I think people who spend most of their time playing GGPO have adjusted to all of that already, feels fine to them. for people who don’t as much (me for example) going to GGPO and trying to do basic confirms is way harder than usual. you just watch the super not come out, or come out too late.

Tebbo is truth.

yeah if you have everything and everything of good quality, sure.
but in many situations, no. i’ve experienced this all myself, i am in no way bullshitting anyone.

any older xbox does not have hdmi. we are stuck with component, rca, or vga. my current tv isn’t mine and has awful component inputs. its hdmi is OK. i only play rpgs and basically anything but fighting games on my ps3 (which is what i use on that tv), so its alright. my monitor has vga input and handles it very well, without any issues or weird artifacts. and at a res of 1680 x 1050. so in my case, and im sure in others cases, vga output is the best option by a good deal.

vga has no problems as long as you know its limitations and is superior in many instances due to hdmi decoder issues that crop up on plenty of monitors and tvs.

but yeah if you can get everything of good quality, hdmi is fine. in my case and in plenty others, hdmi is actually more questionable than tried and true vga.

won’t do this argument all over again. did this a year ago and I posted all the useful emulator on PC tests for input lag vs real hardware, where they show that every emulator running on PC is quite laggy compared to real hardware and that it can’t be avoided. didn’t do much for you as I recall. and you’ve never posted anything in the way of proof or an argument that FBA is anywhere near real hardware on input lag so it’s a waste of time for everyone concerned.

stick with GGPO if it makes you happy. that’s what it seems like you want and we can skip the argument this time around.

VGA TO VGA cable for CRT.
HDMI TO HDMI cable for HD native Monitor.

If my Core I7-2700k 3.5Ghz & 2GB GeForce GTX 660 Ti could not outperform XBOX/PS3’s performance, I would donate them.
