Nah, it more like getting a refund for buying a burger, taking a bite and realising that it’s not even the burger that was advertised. Bonus points for throwing up after taking a bite as well.
Even Sony is embarrassed by this scandal. How would you feel parading this “game” around at game events like E3, TGS, etc etc… hoping that and thinking its the next best thing, super revolutionary. But when it finally comes out, people are angry that it isn’t exactly what was promised or advertised from the developers mouths themselves.
So you as Sony invested money, gave an Indie studio freedom to twiddle thumbs up their ass and do nothing but drop a over hyped, scam of a game in the public’s lap, that might as well be called false advertising and misleading.
Trying to avoid lawsuits, the overwhelming bad publicity, and of course this negative reaction can have an effect on future games you may want to show. People become more cautious over their excitement and that excitement is what generally generates revenue in the form of preorders, which dictates marketing, which dictates future investment.
SCEA basically want this game to go away as quickly as possible. LOL They did publish it after all.
People would understand if it was just a mediocre game like The Order but this game was built on a foundation of deceit.
A refund to those who ask for it is the least they could do over fighting a lawsuit
False adverting. A class action lawsuit was launched against Gearbox and Sega for Alien: Colonel Marines for the promotional material not matching the final product. This game is built on lies so there’s definitely a case here.
Doesn’t matter. People are litigious and dealing with lawsuits costs money/time even if they’re frivolous. Plus, a lawsuit like that, even if most people would laugh at it, is still another nail in Hello Games’ rep (if that coffin hasn’t been nailed shut already).
There are unknown numbers of cases out there which clearly show that NMS was said to have multiplayer. There’s several thousand people who have seen that it doesn’t have, nor was it ever intended to have it. That’s just one lie, but it should be enough to get the ball rolling.
I’m wondering something: everyone and their mother is saying that if this game was just 15 or 20 bucks, there wouldn’t be this much uproar over the missing features and whatnot.
But for those of you who’ve played the game and feel ripped off, do you feel that’s true? Would things have been all (or mostly) good if the game was just 20, or would you still feel just as ripped off?
If it was in that price range I probably wouldn’t have given a shit. There are plenty of pre alpha or beta indie games where you pay 5-20$, you have the game and don’t pay anything else as its updated to completion. Even with all the lies I would accepted it as an unfinished indie that they are working on.
This was a full price title with none of the content to show for it, the u-turn they pulled regarding free dlc all on top of it missing key elements used to hype it up.
