I always thought this game would have an actual community
like meet up on planets, bases, and space stations
form guilds and fleets
it’s just a single player game with constant data being uploaded to your universe/server
you can’t meet other people like they said you could and there is no actual community
it’s just empty space for you and only you to explore
unless they release a patch to include that but no news of that

Why do you disagree?
Early in development they said that there was a multiplayer aspect
Players could see eachother
Then they claim that the universe is so big that it’s nearly impossible for players to meet eachother
Then players tried to meet up on the same planet at the same exact location and they couldn’t see eachother
Each player also had a different time of day on the same planet at the same time
That most likely means that you have your own universe and being connected online just updates your world with other people’s achievements instead of sharing one big universe with everyone
Recently they even tweeted, “To be super clear - No Man’s Sky is not a multiplayer game. Please don’t go in looking for that experience.”

They also said the reason those guys weren’t able to see each other was due to a server glitch. And one of the guys didn’t have psplus. It’s not a multiplayer game but there are small multiplayer aspects.
That sounds plausible
Me and my gf were hyped for this game in the hopes that we could explore together
We thought everyone would start somewhere at a central home location and set off to explore from there
Then come back to form a large community
To find out everyone is on their own and its near impossible to find eachother or other people really killed it for us
I personally think this game couldve been so much more

Yeah I think it’s safe to say that they were completely lying about any type of multiplayer functionality. While this really doesn’t take away from much considering the extent of the multiplayer would have been harvesting non-tradable resources side by side it shouldn’t just be a free pass.
I mean you could trade
Form a guild/fleet and spread out to gather resources from different planets. return and combine resources to strengthen your guild/fleet.
Control sectors, have home guild/fleet planets, and build bases on them to store resources/goods
Guild/fleet vs Guild/fleet battles
Raid guild/fleet planets
Explore together
So much they could’ve done

Sounds like the disappointed people are the ones that thought they were getting Star Citizen.
Shouldn’t there be more to it than just gathering resources on one planet to take off to gather resources on another planet?

I am, I’ve been naming everything straight out of Metroid lore.
The problem is remembering which planet had all the gold. 
So can or can’t you meet ppl. And why would someone try to play online with another person without psn plus? I need sources. I need to have hard evidence that I can murder and troll other players like some kinda space GTA.
Any way to play this game without the need to constantly mine and grind for materials? Or is that just the kind of game it is?
The best way to make money is by crafting materials and then selling them. I found the blueprint to a material that sells for 30,000 units and only costs 18,000 units in materials to craft.
Yes, there’s no way around it. In order to keep your ship operational you’ll need materials.
Doesn’t sound like my kind of game, I’ll probably pass on it. I was hoping there were alternate ways to get those materials, joining a faction/military or some kind, or just being an asshole space pirate. Seems like there’s no way to avoid walking around idly zapping rocks, though.
