Pretty much any kid who downvotes posts just because their inner fanboy is hurt is a blight on society anyway, and not worth it. The facts are out there, at this point it’s self delusion and there is no arguing with that. He/she also has no good come backs to at least make us laugh so it’s an even bigger waste
Nintendo become a subject and the inner diplomat and professional comes out in all of us. This actually is one of the best threads I have read in a long time, because it is really more or less a pretty true to life business analysis with topics an investment group or company management would consider lol.
Did somebody just say “back in the day” to someone with ten years on them? Not involved
However much I disagree that there is no market for phone games, I still think that Nintendo isn’t going anywhere. I don’t believe they’ll go 3rd party anytime soon. They’ll make their own line of phones before that happens. They know that handing over their IPs is the quickest way to get taken advantage of and sucked into another company with big promises (they know because they’ve done it to others).
This is perhaps the single dumbest, most oblivious post in this thread.
It makes specs’s posts read as mid-tier retarded.
To be fair to specs, though, in all probability his I.Q. is in fact within the imbecile range.
But as I have already said I’d flame both your special perspective, as well as that cocksucking waste of a sack of half dead aborted whore meat, if I thought it would actually help promote genuine thought within the hollows of your prominently sloping skulls.
But it won’t, and I shall not.
I reiterate - any of you who actually believe that I haven’t been handling specs’s full-retard self with kid gloves, have zero perspective on the subject.
But please do continue making appeals to authority via seniority, lol.
You look dumber, and dumber, every single goddamned time.
Even Dr. B refuses association with specs, anymore - it’s that bad of a look.
Now it’s just getting sad, please stop. If you believe someone is wrong, prove them wrong with facts and history. What you’re doing now is the equivalent of vomiting on yourself and slapping your head against the keyboard… It’s not funny, cool or intelligent. Everyone else is just kind of watching in disgust now, hoping it’ll end… Also, practice what you preach because, and I quote:
We’re here to discuss and debate Nintendo’s ability to make a play at the mobile platform, not who’s dick is ugliest.
Edit: Also, the only reason why I joked on you before was because you fell back on Peewee Herman’s “I know you are, but what am I” defense. That was funny to me. Nothing personal. Now, I’m just saying this because I feel that this has gone just far enough and having enemies on a forum that I like is never any fun.
I don’t hate either of you, I disagree with both of you in one place or another. I agree with both of you in the same fashion. It’s called being an “individual” I know that may be hard to comprehend, but look it up. It makes a lot of sense.
Those kids aren’t playing games, they are texting. And while I might have played the old Hulk Hogan or Donky Kong handheld garbage games as a little kid, when I grew up I got a NES and other consoles instead of playing those garbage inferior games.
And I don’t actually know who pays for these games, people do get free games on their phones but far more people are texting and reading news when they’re on their phones. There are lots of TVs on the wild but they’re not all watching a drama show, they’re all doing different things when they’re even being used. I certainly wouldn’t base my entire company’s future on that one platform just under the assumption that everyone must be gaming because they have a cellphone.
Cell phone gaming isn’t a “thing.” It’s a fad, it’ll fade out before anyone else can really take advantage of it. You’re not still listening to Gangnam style are you? If you were a musician would you think you could just remix Psy’s songs and that would make you successful?
Just think about when and why someone would be mobile gaming. Most likely on a commute, but how many people commute? In NYC sure, but most places people drive. Then when you are hanging out with friends why would you game on a mobile phone? If you’re at home why would you need a portable gaming device that is inferior at gaming? Where is the location for this and the primary use? What function is it providing that people would really want from it? What is the market segment for this? You have to look at all these things and the answers have to be obvious and readily apparent for why a product or trend is going to emerge. There can’t be alternatives that do the same thing or do it better.
If you still think mobile gaming is going to be a hot sector for awhile after looking at all of that, then I would highly suggest researching the top 2-3 mobile game developers that are publicly traded, and purchasing their stock. That’s how you make money, by being right and acting on it. I’ve done it plenty of times myself. I usually bet against the crowd however, except in this current manipulated market.
"Cell phone gaming isn’t a “thing.” It’s a fad, it’ll fade out before anyone else can really take advantage of it. - Serpent
Actually, the number of people commuting to work is steadily increasing… In 2013 it was 18% of the work force, up from 16% in 2012.
Also, phone gaming has been a “thing” since 1994, with Tetris on the Hagenuk MT-2000.
You can’t just count the US workforce as the whole of a market. You can’t just count hardcore gamers. You can’t just count children or casuals. That’s not how the mobile market works, you have to count everyone with a gaming capable phone, because if it’s possible, most will game on their phone at some point.
Their job isn’t to give you a single game to keep your interest for years, it’s to make you give them money. They want your money, as much, and as often as possible.
Some gems are timeless though, I still love Infinity Blade and the Zenonia series…
Your post makes no sense to me. What point are you trying to make? Phone gaming has been profitable and lucrative since 1994, so therefore handhelds shouldn’t have existed at that point? But they did exist, and mobile gaming was not lucrative at all. You are trying to argue it’s an emerging industry that will be lucrative, you don’t make that point by saying the industry existed two decades ago where it clearly wasn’t lucrative.
You can’t count any demographics but everyone with a mobile phone is a mobile gamer now? Guaranteed, so that’s why it’s going to make a lot of money? Why does this only apply to mobile gaming and not to everything else in life? Are you trying to argue only mobile gaming can be successful because the smartphone market is something like 70% saturation? The PC market is greater than that, why wouldn’t every PC owner be a PC gamer then?
I really don’t get your post. I don’t recall ever being so confused at an SRK post that I didn’t assume was a pure troll post. I really don’t think you’re trying to troll that’s why this is actually leaving me very flabbergasted.
I keep talking about Japan I know, but PS4 is dropping in a few weeks. The hype for PS4 in JP is way less than that of PS3, a far cry from PS2. What happens if PS4 isn’t a big hit over there, sales shuffle their feet to 10 million or less, Japan devs make awkward attempts to appeal to the West. What kind of impact on video games would there be, if one of the biggest video game development regions can’t sell games on dedicated hardware?
Sony’s launching PS4 late for a reason. This situation of most JP publishers failing to sell games in big numbers (outside of Nintendo, Monster Hunter, DQ/FF despite SE’s best efforts to screw that up) is pretty dire, probably more than the West. Nintendo home consoles (and not even portables for most publishers) can’t be counted on, Xbox was never successful, all that’s left is PS4, which could take off but isn’t booming with confidence. The picture should be clear a year from now, either way.
To be clear, I’m not really arguing that Nintendo making smart device games is a good thing, just that sales (and lack thereof on dedicated hardware) points to mobiles as emerging gaming medium. And yeah, I’m not completely enthusiastic about mobile gaming (or completely against it either).
I was just giving the facts as to why phone gaming is a “thing”, not a fad. It’s a 14 billion dollar market… it’s officially got the right to be called a thing…
Could have easily fooled me. Most people when conversing will use a series of connected statements with a thrust of making a “point.” If you expect people don’t just randomly say/write things you have to assume everything they say is for a reason. The pattern of writing he used clearly indicates what I took from it.
Now I know most of you have trouble communicating, so I guess that must be it. I have no idea what he’s trying to say or how those comments make any sense unless he is trying to dispute my statements in context.
I also already know pretty much everything you write beforehand, because frankly you have pretty much the simplest, most one-dimensional patterns of all. I think Azure has you perfectly pegged, and anyone disagreeing with him is an idiot.
Sorry if my wording was too vague, fixed. “Cell phone gaming isn’t a “thing.” It’s a fad, it’ll fade out before anyone else can really take advantage of it.” was the only statement I was addressing.
Also, stating that anybody disagreeing with a person is an “idiot” is the epitome of what is wrong with the world. We as a human race are built to refute, debate, learn, grow, and evolve. Stating that one person is right, no matter the circumstance is abhor-able and slow-minded.
Edit: I also want to define my stance - I understand that the phone games are a big market, however, I don’t think that Nintendo will become third party. I hope that handheld systems will storm the phone market, not the other way around.
