Funny, you were quick to use ad hominem attacks on Azure, and support specs in doing so over a disagreement. Excellent work Mr. Hypocrite.
Look I don’t care about internet arguments, really I don’t. I didn’t even care about your post. I just have no interest in watching a moron like specs strut around using his passive aggressive bullshit and complete moronic posts declaring himself some sort of flame master, with someone like you cheering him on. Heck even then I didn’t care, but you two dorks just keep hammering it and at some point somebody has to post that you’re both stupid.
Yeah that’s not some super epic flame, but seriously, what do you want from those of us reading this? You two are really, really, really stupid. It’s okay to be stupid, but to start bragging about being more intelligent than other people? LOL, morons should just stay quiet.
Take a look at the section discussing their mobile sales. The Simpsons Tapped Out made them over $100 million, Mobile version of FIFA made $145 Million. EA also has mobile juggernaut Plants vs Zombies which sequel exceed the amount of downloads of the previous game.
Too much money is being made from games that takes a couple of weeks to develop with company pocket change. A game publisher would be stupid to not take advantage.
I don’t know why people seem to think full fledged games can’t be done on a mobile device…I have FFT on my iPod…The whole thing, with HD sprites and shit. It’s more fun to play on this thing then it was back in the PSX days cuz navigating menus and units is way more intuitive with a touch screen then a controller.
There are really good games for Mobile, games I’ve poured countless hours into, mobile is no different from any other game medium imo. There’s some really good stuff in there if you wise up and look properly and do a bit of research, and there’s a ton of bullshit garbage JUST like on PC and JUST like on consoles. People do want to game on their phones and there are a lot of good games for them.
I don’t even get the argument that phone games are just bullshit people do to fill the time when waiting for something…Isn’t that what hand helds are to? I never use my DS at home, or my PSP. I use them when I am out, usually while waiting for something. I don’t like…make time for my Portable devices. If I’m home I console or PC game. If I’m out i DS/PSP/iPod game.
It’s fine, I prefer to acknowledge a possible mistake or misunderstanding, then make some effort to rectify it… there are others who prefer to fall towards insults. That fine.
I was trying to give Azure pause, so that he could reflect on his conduct and think of something other than insulting someone’s intelligence as a response… In fact my original stance is closer to Azure’s in the first place! I wanted to hear something on-subject, not blithering anger. The only thing I disagree on is the statement that keeps being made about phone games not being a thing. I know the numbers, it’s a thing.
As I stated before, the only reason I poked at Azure was because he dipped to a strange “fuck you” defense. It was funny to me so I gave him a nudge in the ribs… You guys are all getting so serious about this whole thing, and you took it more personally than I had anticipated… It was supposed to be funny… I’m sorry if the punch line was lost on you.
I digress though, it’s late, I’m tired and… I really just don’t give a single fuck anymore. I submit, O great master of an internet forum!
(At least you didn’t treat me like a child because you have been a member longer… you have my legitimate respect for that)
If I couldn’t be bothered to read for shit I’d try to correct that flaw, not make ass-backwards statements about how everyone else must have trouble communicating.
But hey I said I’d keep it civil, so I’m content to just tell you that you have no idea what you’re talking about, on anything, and are laughably unqualified to assess anyone’s posting habits, gaming trends, or how to wipe one’s own asshole.
Jeez guys, seriously. Sometimes I see some of these bone headed posts and wonder what hope we have for the human race.
Uh, no they’re very clearly playing games. I see Angry Birds and Minecraft all the fucking time. In fact, just the other day I saw a kid with a Minecraft Creep beanie and hoodie sweatshirt. Too bad he didn’t have a handheld device, because he only had Batman and Green Lantern action figures. How much you want to bet this kid is playing on a PC and his dad’s iPad? Oh wait, you’ll disagree, nevermind.
Um, people with money to buy cell phones buy these games, because they have money to buy cheap $1 and $5 games? And you’re wrong about people gaming on their phones. I see it all the time. It’s called being objective and taking observations for evidence. I work at TWO public places, not just one, but TWO (I have 2 jobs) and I have plenty of experience seeing kids and teens playing cell phone games while they wait for their food.
Oh, so you fully agree that a company shouldn’t base their entire existence on one platform. Good. So you agree then that it’s wise for Nintendo to check other platforms like cell phones out, and not just their consoles? Awesome. The TV statement is really stupid, too, by the way. Does every gamer who owns a PS3 play Killzone? No… so why would everyone who has a TV be watching a drama? What the fuck dude?
Uh, it is a thing. In fact, it’s a very profitable thing as others have already pointed out. Guess what the cost to make a cell phone game is and guess what the profit margin is? Much, much, much larger than the typical business model we’ve seen in the past. In fact I’m willing to bet most companies will need to create cheap to make but high profit margin games for the cell phone market to keep being able to push normal games we’re all used to. People have to have money to make products and what better way to do so by having low cost high return items to sell? That’s good investment, and if you disagree you need to read up on some basic economics. Also, what’s wrong with still listening to Gangnam Style? I mean, it’s not THAT old. Are you saying there is something wrong with listening to old music? Man, I guess I should get rid of all my classical music composed in the 1700’s because there is something wrong with it… damn those fads.
Uh, this whole paragraph is pretty much disproven by how Nintendo is currently raking in their money. Via the mobile market. Yeah, mobile hand held consoles, not mobile phones, but your logic as to why mobile phones don’t work is disproven because it’s the same logic as to why Nintendo’s hand held works. People commute, people wait for food to cook when they’re at restaurants, people wait in lines, people wait while in movie theaters for movies to start… people have lunch breaks, class breaks, people get together to play games in the park…
And again, you’re wrong, as many people have proven via posts after this one that mobile is a pretty hot market. Look at Zynga, look at EA, look at Candy Crush, look at all the things that sell well. Facebook games are huge these days, and so is cell phone gaming, and there is overlap, just like there is overlap with PC and console. Casual games are a thing, a real thing, and real gaming.
Anyway, I only replied to this because you quoted me, I do realize others have already handled much of this at this point.
Not entirely. Some control schemes may need to be rethought, but it’s not impossible, and I don’t see it as “dumbing” anything down. As far as FPS goes, aiming with a touch screen is much more sensitive than using an analog stick, and much closer to what you get with a mouse than any pad has ever been.
Your problem is, you’re thinking like an investor, and 9/10, investors get their information 2nd and even 3rd hand. They’re not street level people which is where most of what they’re trying to learn about happens. You have no idea what’s going on in the mobile gaming sector. I told you to look up Gameloft and you obviously didn’t because that company is probably THE leading company in the mobile gaming sector. Seriously dude, if you’re going to play the investor/guy with money role, at least read up on the topic. You’re better than this.
I REALLY have tried to find fun lasting games for my phone…but sadly they all grow to be bland experiences. Touch screen still isn’t doing it for me. PvZ is what I liked but I’m very disappointed that the 2nd game tries (like a LOT of games out there) to siphon money out of my wallet. No, if you give it to me for free then don’t expect me to pay for anything.
I’d give mobile gaming like this more tries once they provide a real full game experience like Animal Crossing/Starfox/pokemon/CoD/etc
Again touchscreen is what holds it back plus how strong the demand there is for more sophisticated games. til then I’ll keep my 3DS with me.
Oh I’m fully aware of Gameloft. They made something like $100mm last year and are up year to year. The mobile sector made probably $20bb overall, something like that.
What I’m telling you is it’s fine for a short term movement, but it’s not viable long term. Developing for the mobile sector isn’t as simple as assigning a couple of interns to do it and cranking out a few games. Infrastructure and company directions take time. Even if Nintendo started right away it would probably be a year or more before they have the advertising and then logistics to put any games out on the mobile phones. And for a smaller company like that, they will lose resources somewhere else.
By the time Nintendo is ready, I am projecting the mobile sector is dead. They probably think that too and that’s why they’re not bothering with it. The rest of my posts weren’t me telling you what would happen, it was just me telling you the questions you need to ask yourself before making a long term trade. I mostly do short term trades so I don’t really care, the bulk of my analysis was technical and I no longer trade not believe in the stock market as a long term use of capital. Especially not for the work involved.
That is the thing with the lot of you. You are sooooo defensive about your position, you take it all personally if someone even suggests you have to question things and do research and your own due diligence. That’s not an intelligent or sophisticated mentality, you should ALWAYS be questioning things yourself. I only responded to you because you were the most civil about it. Read some of the other posts and you’ll especially see what I mean, people dropping anecdotes, talking about how they know how to run multi-billion dollar companies and how things are simple and black and white. We all know things are far more complicated than that, those of us with any sense anyway.
cellphone games are a blight to gaming as a whole.
Companies will do what they have to, to bring in money
Nintendo on cellphones is a mistake.
Just imagine playing Donkey Kong country 2 that you had to buy as a VC title, and you had to pay micro transactions to use Funky’s flights. for more than once per day.
Or Paying real money to get rupies to buy something in zelda.
that takes away the integrity of nintendo that they are always so openly forthcoming with in various interviews with Reggie.
I wouldn’t support a nintendo phone personally, but there are plenty of motherfuckers that would. just know if you get one I’m judging you with my eyes.
