Conquest is the harder route.
Better map design and more varying objectives.

Yeah I know. That’s why I wanted to do it first.
But ah well. I’m having fun on the Right side.
Ninjas are nuts. Especially with that ability that makes you switch places.
FE has turned hella waifu, but I pride myself having played all the handled ones. I dunno about FE Fates though since Awakening didn’t really do much for me. To me it was decent at best, had to put that shit on extreme+ mode in order to feel challenged. Also, the pairing system was broken as hell. Just get an S rank support with two people with the right abilities and no enemy could even touch them.
Pair up mechanics are extremely toned down.
Now you you only get dual attack when someone is standing next to them.
Dual attacks are also always guaranteed but much weaker.
When you are paired up you automatically block dual attacks and with each attack attack you build a guard gauge.
When its full you block an initiation attack or the main attackers follow-up attack. (When they out speed and attack twice)
Bonus for S+ support is negligible now. You get S+ for marriage and child then you can just have units run around with A+ support units.
I haven’t even finished this game, only 2 DLC maps are out and I’m enjoying it more than Awakening.
My post above gives some more changes.
Hell DLC and Paralouge maps scale with how many chapters you’ve completed.
Those child recruitment chapters aren’t a fucking joke lol.
was talking to my friend in Japan who had beaten all 3 FEs, and based on what I told her she recommended I restart lol I lost a girl early and she said she’s useful.
Also, this was officially announced just now
Another turn based game yup that’s exactly what the 3DS doesn’t have enough of…sigh oh well I’m still holding out hope Nintendo will announce something I want for it this year because currently all these RPGs and indie puzzle games don’t really do anything for me.

I hope Monster Tale Ultimate wasn’t canceled that is my type of game I’m looking forward to that.
You can never have enough turn based games, never.
And monster tale looked hella lame, hold that.
It’s fine Zoo, there are plenty of pixilated POS games on the vita for years to come.
Just better be able to be a Poke Fashionista in Sun/Moon cause I swear to #basedgod if we don’t…
Save the anger for Felicity woman. Take deep breaths and think of happier days.
@Eskills If you like turn based games then yeah I guess you can’t ever get enough and you should be happy 3DS has a lot of them but for gamers who don’t like them and prefer action like @Vynce @Million or myself it’s disappointing to see 3DS have such a short supply especially in comparison to DS which had a lot. When games like Shinobi, Super Mario 3D Land, and Kid Icarus: Uprising came out I was super hyped because I absolutely loved them, but it seems I was wrong for assuming we’d get more quality games similar to them. The past 2 years have been dry for my 3DS I was super hype for Gunvolt until I played the demo and it just wasn’t fun since it was a super easy speed run/score based game rather than a difficult action/platformer in the vein of Megaman X/Zero like I was expecting. I recently got Gunman Clive 2 which is pretty good, Xenoblade Chroncicles X which I look forward to starting sometime this year, and Monster Hunter X will get ported someday so that’s better than nothing. Still overall Nintendo neglected fans of action oriented games with 3DS as we got remasters of 2 old Zeldas and a port of Donkey Kong Wii while turn based gamers got a lot of new IP’s and sequels to established franchises, but if action games sell like shit on 3DS while turn based games print money than I completely understand it’s a business decision. And I haven’t played the original Monster Tale just saw some YouTube reviews it looks like a decent Metroidvania (yes @crotchpuncha I know you hate that term but it works lol) the art and music is incredible and devs said they would make game play changes so it looks more interesting than a new Fire Emblem or Pokemon to me.
Oh and Kinniku still being SRK’s resident salt factory XD.
“Metroidvania” is a super shit term, though.
Yeah it’s definitely muddied the waters between Metroid, Castlevania, and any game that shares any similarities with either franchise, but it’s so deeply ingrained into gamer culture at this point. Also it’s a lot more expedient than saying "game with one big non linear world with no defined stages and large sections of the world gated off until you find the appropriate upgrade for each section to backtrack and explore through simultaneously making previously explored areas be new and having the player gain a sense of empowerment through upgrades and map knowledge.
A quick cursory google search and I got this a guy saying the main difference is Metroid emphasizes exploration and critical thinking while Castlevania is more about combat so to combine the two is lazy:
Agree or no? And Vynce what is the alternative term to Metroidvania? nigga I ain’t always going to feel like typing that whole fucking thing, sometimes even Jimmy1200 doesn’t want to rant.
I was joshin zoo lol.
I love turned based RPGs, the genre that really got me hooked on gaming.
Eagerly waiting MHX and it’s not surprising Nintendo doesn’t have much variety. They rarely take chances, but when they do we get some pretty amazing stuff.
Kinda why I’ve been thinking about getting a vita. That library looks so damn tempting.
I know I haven’t played a turn based game since Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story which I fucking loved since it had timing based combat not simply just turn based, also got Crypt of the Necrodancer recently which blew my mind it’s unlike anything I’ve ever played essentially a turn based RPG and rhythm game mashup check it out. Anyways I just don’t the taking turns type combat for the same reason a lot of you guys don’t enjoy QTEs…I’d rather be doing the action myself than pressing 1 button and watching my character perform the attack animation so ARPGs>>>>>> IMO a they combine the best of both worlds, but maybe someday I’ll get back into turn based RPGs who knows lol.
I thought about getting MH4, but by the time I was interested MHX was announced so I might as well wait,my only experience with MH was the UMH3 demo on my old 3DS and it was kind of awkward control wise, but the combat was fun as hell I for my first taste of hunting monsters and could see why you guys are addicted, now that I have an N3DS with the analog nub and a new MH on the horizon I can be an addict too lol.
Not to derail, the thread, but if you like JRPGs then yeah Vita has a ton of those much to may dismay wa too many actually as that’s what keeps the system alive in Japan so that’s what gets made, but there are more than enough quality indies to keep me happy. I originally got it to have Hotline Miami 2 on the go, but now own like 55 games on it lol.
Lunatic is done fucking around on the Birthright side apparently. Got stuck on a chapter trying to deal with Paladin Swarms in an open area.
Also I tried the 1st map on the Conquest side. Sweet Jesus they were not kidding when they said hard. You screw up once and you’re dead.
And I loved it.
Bought Pokemon Blue off the eShop. I never did finish Gen 1 but I plan to do so this time. Any suggestions for rival names? I’m leaning towards stuff like BUTTFACE or NUTSACK.
Only turn based game I want is a new Advance Wars game. Days of Ruin had a decent balance, great design and was a nice change of pace from the lighter more fun style earlier games. Where is my 3DS one nintendo?
