Nintendo 3DS - Best Handheld Today

You don’t. You got ripped off.

Wanna try explaining? I’m a M&L vet.

You know what?

There I saved the thread.

Meh game is ugly

Why would I play that? No one is made of paper.

Enemy patterns and their tells essentially don’t matter/don’t exist anymore but there will be an icon under whatever brother is being attacked and they’ll instantly go into hammer or jump.

Plus Paper Mario is pretty busted. His hammer can attack every enemy and he needs to be hit 6 times before he actually even takes damage. And the 6 hits you can constantly replinesh with his “Copy” ability.

I haven’t tried the amiibo cards yet. I’m sure they’re pretty ridiculous too.

Damn that sounds disappointing. I’m assuming hard mode, if it even has one like Dream Team, is locked from the start too.

I’m just sort of wondering why people are surprised.

Cause not everyone is a negative Nancy

Come on, we’re in a post-Sticker Star world. Let’s not pretend like we really thought the game would be anything special.

As a Paper Mario fan, I thought it was pretty clear from the first minutes of shown gameplay footage that it was going to be Mario & Luigi kinda-sorta-guest-starring Paper Mario, so I’m legitimately surprised that people are actually shocked that the Paper Mario world was underutilized.

Picked up my copy of Paper Jam today. I’ll probably at least put an hour into it after I finish fiddling with my ps4.

so what plenty of series have had a bad apple in the middle doesn’t stop them from correcting their mistakes in future titles YA NEGATIVE NANCY.
so far only one person has posted about being surprised at the fact that paper mario stuff was underutilized ,and really even the fact that people expected more really isn’t surprising.

Do those other series have the guys responsible currently in the position of creative director for the entire company? And if the answer was yes, did those series actually get out of that slump?

Better to have tempered expectations and be pleasantly-surprised than to be excited and then let down by the results. For the former, if I’m wrong, you can go “Nana nanana, I told you so” all day long, but at the end of the day, joke’s on you, I get to play a good game.

I can’t find the Fire Emblem thread, so I’ll just post here;

If I buy a standard copy of Fates, can I get all three storylines on to one cartridge (with enough savefile slots to support it) or do I have to shell out a small fortune to a scalper for the Collector’s Edition?

If it’s the latter…anybody know a good, trusted bastard scalper reseller?

Fire Emblem thread is right here.

If you buy a standard copy of Fates, you can buy the other campaign as DLC for $20, as well as the third campaign for a price that I don’t know yet. So you can have them all on one cartridge. No idea about save slot space.

-shrug- I have the special edition FE Fates preordered so I don’t need to worry bout that.

dances

That sounds pretty bad. Half the fun in M&L games is figuring out the tells and how to punish attacks.

nice option select i think i’ll try to incorporate it my life.

So far the normal bosses (“normal” since there are paper craft fights as well) are the best part of Paper Jam. The learning curve on the bosses can be surprisingly high. Very refreshing. The indicators I spoke of a few posts ago are still there but they matter very very little in the boss fights. The bosses interact really well too

[details=Spoiler] example of this is one during the fight with Roy and Wendy if you knock back the rock Roy throws at you it “accidentally” hits Wendy. She throws a fit and she attacks him.

Also during a certain attack where Wendy is spitting fire at paper Mario (who helps you dodge during the certain attack) and Roy is pushing a giant metal ball, if you line up Wendy with the ball as Roy kicks it than it will roll over her for mass damage which will also have them fight eachother.
[/details]

The dialog gets a lot better too with a lot of tongue in cheek jokes and breaking the 4th wall.

The best dialog so far has been Princess Peach talking to Paper Peach about wanting to change their looks and all of their suggestions are either a nod towards the sports/karts games or other Mario Princesses (along with Paula)

Sorry to keep bumping this thread about Paper Jam. Lol

I’m starting to like it a lot more now. The story is slowly developing through things that come off as very miniscule but will likely end up to something really fun in the long run.

The enemies are a lot better now too. The indicators under your characters basically don’t matter anymore. The enemies have a lot of not so subtle tells now and even then they mix up those tells. The past few bosses have been an absolutely blast to play. The more common enemies have become more annoying with their tells and patterns as well.

The bonuses for reaching new rank are so hard to pick from though. They’re all so good.
