Dang it, I need to catch up on my 3DS library. The last game I bought was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Pretty much just been playing that and Fire Emblem: Awakening; clocking in at about 300 hours on Fire Emblem trying to unlock every possible support conversation.
What games do you guys recommend? My current collection:
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Mario Kart 7
New Super Mario Brothers 2
Star Fox 64 3D
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Tekken 3D: Prime Edition
Titles I’ve been interested in:
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
Paper Mario: Stick Star
Project X Zone
Also been interested in getting the rest of the FE DLC maps. Days of Future Past was awesome.
Glad youI’m surprised you don’t have Super Mario 3D Land I assumed that’s the one game all 3DS owners have. It’s the opposite of the “new” series of Mario games AKA it’s fun and innovative. SM3DL is basically Super Mario Galaxy meets Super Mario Brothers 3 (my favorite one),
Also get Mario Kart 7, it’s the only racing franchise will play besides Burnout.
If you’re having trouble soloing a G rank P. Rath then super event monsters will be absolutely impossible solo. Even really good players struggle to beat them before the time runs out. Even scarier is the fact that they have a LOT of flinch resistance and breaking parts is multiple times harder to break than usual.
Super event I. Lagi did a good potion’s worth of damage by WALKING TOWARDS ME. I have maxed out G rank armor, NOT A GUNNER. Damage is insane.
Also Gun lance is cool, though I’d never fuck with a Brachy with Gunlance/Lance. The dude has ambigious crossups and countering him is a is a risk that may end up in death if he crosses you up or baits you.
Oh right, also helps if you play multiple weapons in monster hunter. Changes the pace and matchups.
Monster hunter doesn’t feel like a grind alone when the fights are sooo soo good and you have 4+ weapon classes at your disposal.
Etrian Odyssey 4 if you want a hard but fair RPG with plenty of build variety/freedom.
SMT IV is great too.
I’d kinda recommend getting Project X Zone at a discount if possible. Hold off on it until then.
Zero Escape: Virtues last reward is solid. They patched out the save bug IIRC
Donkey Kong Country returns is so far legit. Very much like the old school DKC games.
Resident Evil Revelations is surprisingly good. It’s like 4 + old school RE exploration.
Tales of the Abyss if you’re interested in Tales games and haven’t played this. Pretty ok - good if you haven’t played Tales games.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Up to you. It’s a game revolving around boss fights and REALLY good ones at that. Hit your shit, dodge their shit gameplay. Good weapon variety and playstyles. A LOT of content. I’m 300 hours in with bosses I haven’t played against yet. Downside is no online Co-op. It’s a amazing game regardless solo if you put time into it. Even more so with buddies that have the game too. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to wait for Monster Hunter 4 which will have online, it’ll be somewhat of a different game though. If you played MH3 on Wii then yeah can hold off, they doubled the amount of monsters but you probably poured a shit load of hours into the wii version if thats the case.
Still need to get to Shinobi, Luigi’s mansion, Dream team.
Zelda, Sonic, and Smash Bros…my wallet is going to need a lot of lube and therapy this year.
I just remembered Ninja Gaiden and Contra got canceled…damn I really would have loved to see what they would be like on 3DS especially since NG:DS and Contra 4 are among the best games on DS. I also hope we get a sequel to Canvas Curse on 3DS…wishful thinking I know, but while I’m at it where the fuck is my Metroid 3DS exclusive?
The knowledge that 3 (hopefully) amazing games are coming out this year soften the blow, but man I remember how much fun I had with Contra 4 and then wonder…why can’t I have more games like this? It’s as much if not more crushing than Capcom and Nintendo’s disregard for Mega man and Metroid. Besides being one of my favorite franchises, what makes it’s cancellation especially sad is that unlike most other franchises Contra benefits from sticking to it’s tried and true 2D formula rather than innovating, the grappling hook in 4 was enough lol so it’s not as if design or budget are issues for Konami.
At this point, I’d be perfectly happy with Contra: Rebirth being ported to 3DS. By the way to anyone who played it how is it?
Uh, WTF at the news. We already have a 2DS–just turn off the 3D.
EDIT: After reading the article, the 2DS is meant to target the younger set (the ones who aren’t meant to be viewing 3D). I wonder what they’re gonna do to protect the screen though. That was one of the advantages of a clamshell design.
I really don’t understand the point of the 2DS. If you don’t want the younger audience playing in 3D, just make an update adding it as an option on the 3DS for parents to permanently turn off.
Also, incoming confusion for parents or buyers not into gaming.
