Magnemite seems OP so far during my B/W2 adventures. Every Pokemon so far has tried to destroy me only to get not very effective on most attacks, and Sonicboom blows them all up in return. He’s a pretty cool dude.
On the other hand Azurill doesn’t do shit, even against fire types his water attacks aren’t doing effective damage. Need to figure out how to friendly level her into Merrill and see if it helps.
One thing which might help if I remember right is fusing Alice, she has good growth in magic to help defend against it, she reflects gun attacks and is strong against physical attacks.
To be honest I can’t remember what attacks Zelenin used but I’m pretty sure my party consisted of;
MC with frost gun (can’t remember the armour or sword)
Pixie with Luster Candy and Debilitate
Alice with the Dynes and Grand Tack
Lorelei with resist fire, ice, lightning and wind, invitation and mediarahan
Basically MC and Alice hammered away with wind shot and garudyne whilst Pixie kept the party at +3 and Zelenin at -whatever I had the mp left for and Lorelei was just chucking out heals and reviving whenever needed.
She uses Megido Blast which is a multi-target, very heavy, lightning attack. Her physical attacks are multi too and pack quite the punch. She also has that dreadful multi-target instant death spell.
My fighters can actually handle her kinda sorta, but my main (and only) healer, Fairy Titania can’t stand up against her.
I’m going to try my luck with a leveled up Snake Ouroboros and Jirae Gogmagog. My strategy is just to pummel her and have a stout enough healer to just keep healing at every turn.
Huh! Whaddya know? Apparently, I managed to get Marakarn (reflect magic attacks) on two of my fighters. Whenever I use that, she only uses Sinner’s Song which is a light all party charm attack. Maybe I can beat her?
AYO?! Azurill is also Normal-type versus being a Water-type like its evolved forms, so that’s why your water attacks are doing shit damage. It will get better, especially if you have Huge Power as your ability.
Magnemite is almost too stronk… that thing will carry you all the way through the game. Oh yeah, grab a Heracross as soon as you can; Fuck a Lucario… thing is ass without egg moves and takes too long to learn his best attacks.
Wow he has a new evolution? Looks kind of cool actually. The last time I took Pokemon seriously was Silver/Gold, but I did play Emerald and Pearl as well. New game is all kinds of confusing, don’t remember running into Ice types before and what counters what anymore. I’ll check that link out sir.
Yeah despite the fact that it found a spot as my fighting type on many of my fourth gen teams(Toxicroak/Heracross got the other spots), I feel that Lucario is vastly overrated. Especially so considering all the awesome Fighters that are available in B2/W2(Scrafty, Conkeldurr, and Mienshao say hi, honorable mentions to Sawk and Throh)
IDK, I’d rather roll with Heracross… The fighting beetle is just too damn awesome to ignore.
Likewise, also I dislike Lucario so skipped over the Riolu or whatever in the starting area. Was hoping for Machop/Mechamp and stuff but doubt they are in here. I miss my original 150.
Was trying to capture a Grimer but I always accidentally killed him, may try some more but Koffing is fulfilling a good role currently. Kind of in that early slow leveling period, disparency in trainer battle levels and random fights. Just beat Burche or Burke, the bug dude, Koffing and Growlithe to OP there.
They really need to fix Bug and Grass types, they got a lot of weaknesses and get bodied pretty easily. Shame since I love Grass so much and always pick a Grass starter.
649, not counting alternate forms. The 6th gen games (X & Y) are coming out this October and will add even more.
I took a break from Pokemon after the first gen and didn’t get back into it until just before gen 3 came out, but I’ve stuck with it since. There’s just something about the whole training/team building process I’ve always liked. Gen 2’s probably my favorite overall since it feels the most like the original games but added a bunch of bug fixes/balance changes and added some of my new favorite 'mons without going crazy overboard with the formula.
They need to re-evaluate the type chart in general. It hasn’t been changed since gen 2 (12+ years ago) and its still out of whack. So many 'mons get shafted just because of their typing.
