I wish Nintendo would just go for the cash-in in regards to the Virtual Console. I’m looking at my copy of DKC in my Retro Duo thinking, “Why can’t I play you on my 3DS?”
I plan on receiving a DSTWO for my birthday, but I’d glady pay for the games I mean to emulate.
…Except for Mario 64. Just patch that shit to support analog, God damn.
if youre implying only super damage is high in ST then no. Damage is semi random but supers across the board do between 50-60% except chun’s which does 80% after upkicks. Throws do about 20% or so if not teched (chun’s throw does about 33% same as geif n hawk’s command grabs lol) and 2 roundhouse or fierce hits will do at least 30%. Add to that a semi random dizzy system in which it’s very easy to get dizzied and it’s no wonder most ST rounds even at the high levels don’t last a full minute. It’s really stupid to say a high damage system somehow makes a fighting game less competitive, in fact many like myself believe high damage makes fighting games more competitive and more fun. It means you can’t fuckup and still pull a win out of your ass, high damage makes both players think more carefully resulting in a more strategic and intense match. I’ll gladly take that over doing a million hit combo for 9% damage.
Sorry for the rant but I can’t resist the urge to respond when ST is involved, anyways back on topic I’ve been trying to get all the collectibles in Shinobi it’s still hard as cold tits. I’m shocked people claim to love “retro” games and jizz all over games like Super Meat Boy or Cave Story (both incredible as well) and yet this gem which not only has flawless combat, level design, and a unique art atyle, but an in game achievement system and tons of unlockable and collectible content as well and has gone almost completely ignored by the masses.
Shinobi is simply 2D gaming at it’s finest IMO, it would be one of the first games I point to if i had to give examples of why 2D is superior to 3D. Playing it recently makes me realize it shares the same philosophies of the Souls games. In Demon’s and Dark Souls like Shonobi you have to pay attention and keep your guard up at all times because every enemy can kill you easily, but at the same time you have all the tools you need to beat them it’s up to the player to learn from his/her deaths.
Edit: It’s nice 3 people in this thread at least gave it a shot though even if they aren’t fanatics for it like me lol.
LOL. It has blatantly cheap level design and enemy placement, like until you have each level memorized you’ll die a lot. It’s the beat’emup version of Contra 4 which is probably my favorite DS game.
Speaking of which it was a colossal mistake when Konami announced they were developng Contra 3DS since WayForward proved themselves more worthy of the franchise than anyone else. However, it was a new Contra so I wasn’t complaining too much…the real fuckup is not seeing a Contra for 3DS at all.
Edit: I’ll be in Spain for 2 weeks in June. On the plane and when I get there the train is where 3DS will be valuable, might cop Kid Icarus or DKCR not sure which. Call me a cheap ass but with Steam deals being so low I have a hard time paying $30 for a 3DS game lol.
I got that shell/screen protector combo off Amazon for like $1.88 Kinda messed up putting on one of the latter, but it’s a great deal. And it’ll keep my Batman sticker safe. Fuck a Pikachu.
…No, I didn’t mean that. I love Pikachu, but the thought of bringing that model out in public was a deal breaker.
Been playing that SMT: Strange Journey. I was making my way through a dungeon, being OP like a boss, until a low level monster uses Stone Breath on me and I died.
