sadly i can’t make it today. i’ll go next friday.
Lol dammit I shoulda gotten on this thread before I visited Next Level yesterday night. I didn’t know you play there, Snaaaake! I was there from like 8-9pm playing 3s by myself lol.
When’re we gonna get dat BASE going?? XD
shoulda have posted…I was gonna go I wasnt doing anything!!
I will psn you when I make base rooms
does Next Level have hitbox sticks available to rent?
bring your own
If I had one I wouldn’t be asking if they have one for rent…
clapmaster always doing this to random noobs lol
quick question for someone who might be stopping by: is there 3s at Next level regularly?
wasn’t sure where to put this, but i just saw this post on gothamist and i wanted to see if henry cen or anyone else knew what was up (i don’t exactly trust gothamist as a credible source)
Naaah yo, this is a dream. Its a fucking dream it can’t be true. Naaaah, NAAAAAH YO.
Can NLA and CTF coexist?
I dont know how this lonnie plan on breaking even and paying the rent. as much as I love to see CTF come back to life, I dont see how its gonna work. lets hope for the best!!
That’s the sad thing. It’s not going to work for that long.
They’re two different things.
NLA is just a console place while CTF is an arcade.
I’m gonna be coming down to TNL possibly this Friday. Hopefully I’ll be able to find some people to play as it’s only once in a blue moon I can go since I live in CT and go to school…
I got a question: Will they be able to dual mod my SFxT stick there? I dunno if it’s gonna be as feasible as modding other sticks since you can’t just simply take the top off…
can someone please help me out? Im going to be in nyc this weekend and im heading up to next level. is there a taxi or train that’ll get me from brooklyn back to manhattan? im taking the train there but i heard that they stop running past midnight. Im pretty sure im going to be there past midnight so i probably need to take a taxi back. also how much does cab fare run from brooklyn to manhattan?
You can always take the train back with the people who decide to stay after midnight. There’s quite a few people who take the train back to Manhattan/Queens/Bronx after midnight.
pretty sure trains never stop running. its just delayed after midnnight or something. the D train is like 2 blocks from there. you can just walk there. area is safe I wouldnt worry. otherwise call a local car service. you cant just find a random yellow cab middle there.
Ok thanks for the help. Do they have ST there?
I don’t believe that they have a Hitbox to rent.
I’ve usually found at least one person to play it with on a Friday, but it’s not as regular as I had hoped after 3SOE came out. My strategy is usually to walk around loudly asking people if they want to play 3S, or just to start it up on a station that no one is using (if there is one) and hope someone sits down to play, which usually happens eventually. Figuring out the regulars who actually dig 3S helps, and you could also find people through SRK or 3SOE or whatever who will meet you there for the purpose of playing 3S.
You should get in touch with Ben Fong. He does most (all?) of the stick work that I know of. My guess is capable of doing it, but I don’t know if he could do it at any given time while you wait.
What the above guys said is mostly true, but what you must be referring to (the train not running after midnight) was also true at one time, but only due to construction (there are always construction projects in the NYC subway system that can affect train routes, usually on the weekends, and it’s usually no biggie in Manhattan where you can walk another few blocks to a different line or station, but things are a lot more spread out in Brooklyn). For a while, the D wasn’t running starting at midnight on Friday from the stop by Next Level, but you could still take a train back from the next stop, which you can probably get a ride to, and you can walk although it’s not the most inviting walk at 2:00 AM. And yeah, there aren’t cabs around, but you can call one, which people do. I’m sure it isn’t cheap, but you can find people to tag along and split the cost. I think that construction is over, and you or anyone else curious can go to mta.info to look at scheduled service changes if you ever want to make sure a certain train is running the way you expect it to.
Not an arcade cabinet, or if they do it’s (awesome) news to me. You can play HDR, but it’s not one of the more popular games unless there’s a tournament for it.
And finally, the best topic and only reason I checked this thread… with all due respect to Next Level, which I adore, I do hope CF comes back. It is a different animal than NL. And it is also an animal that is a easier to get to for many people haha NL has a lot of positives and in some ways is a lot better than CF, which is why I am hopeful they could coexist (NL is far far better for tourneys, and of course it has console-only games, tons of set-ups so that you can pretty much play as much as you want on casuals nights, etc.). I am not getting my hopes up, personally… I do think that that the right people with the right business model could make it work, but I don’t know what that model is or if that is what is happening. Maybe there naive, ignorant of certain facts, or blinded by all of the memories I’ve made in arcades in recent years and as a youngin’, but I just don’t see how a public place where awesome video games can be played is a business that is doomed to fail. Maybe they need to host Halo or Madden tournaments, maybe they need to serve alcohol or expensive French cuisine, maybe they need to have strippers there every night, but surely there is something that can lead just one arcade in the entire city of NYC to success.
Im soo glad I finally learned stick SO IM PREPARED FOR CTF YAAAAAAA
