The Posting Spree was done in different Threads, and through different Forums.
It was clear that he was spamming for Fifty when I saw so many Posts in a row in Tech Talk.
Then I come to Trading Outlet and see Posts in Thread of other Sellers.
And to also be bumping Thread from 2008 with nothing relevant?
Then BAM! I see a Thread of his as his Fifty First Post.
I agree, seems his intention was to clearly spam his 50 in. Though he might say otherwise, he’s gonna have to show more than 3 words every other post.
UPDATED:
I’ve talked with him and he seems to regret what he did. He figured he wouldn’t get followed up on his posting manner and wished to prove by all means that he is not a bot. Since he responded to PMs in a timely manner and apologized for his actions I will allow his thread/business to continue. However, I advised him that in the future he follow up his posting style with more input on the matter at hand.
Whats the deal, for buying? do i need six months for that as well, just wondering because i pm’d someone about a custom stick (of course i’d be willing to pay upfront seeing as I haven’t been around for a while). Just wondering what the procedure is here thanks.
The six month 50 post rule is for selling or trading only. Anybody can buy. This was implemented because during the TE launch too many new users where making new accounts and scamming for TE sticks.
If you care enough to be here for 6 months and make 50 posts, it weeds out a few scammers that must scam now.
Sure that works too. But this forum is a great market place for us honest hobbyist stick builders to craft something and then perhaps maybe break even for our craft, or for people to get rid of some sanwa parts that they are not going to use or replaced with a different color.
This is probably impossible, but is there a way to get my post count back? I don’t know how it was lost but I know I had at least 500ish, I even sold a PS3 TE stick here last year on May 4th to member Tra`. It’s not a huge deal since I’m at 32 posts, just wanna sell this extra hori stick I have sitting here.
So, he’s buying something from somebody else but will immediately sell it to you? If he bought it legit, the item in question is legally his. Personally though, you should wait a few days until he gets the shipping. Selling something that’s not in your possession spells trouble in most cases.
Sales transaction are about to be done.
And everyone involved sure knows about the rules.
networkingyuppy already took care the first time, but no one this time.
That entire thread has been deleted, if they feel inclined to continue we will be infractioning the perpetrators
Also, somebody claimed that we cannot stop deals if we just close the thread. It’s buyers remorse if somebody gets scammed from a person who just joined the site.
I’ll be going through this user post history and check the spam, I always want to first understand the need to abuse the system in order to get something sold/traded.
Can one of the mods clarify something for me with regards to the trading outlet?
Are new members allowed to buy from the Trading Outlet?
The reason I ask is that a few days ago, I was interested in buying a TE fightstick from another member via the Trading Outlet. The seller informed me that one of the mods PM’d him to say that he isn’t allowed to sell to me since I’m a new member and his Trading Outlet thread was closed. The seller is a long time member and meets the requirements to sell (long tenure and over 900 posts).
I read up on the Trading Outlet Rules thread (this thread), plus the 2011 Member FAQ thread and found the following:
Updated April 4, 2009
22. To use the trading outlet (sell or trade) you have to be with the site for at least 6 months, and have 50 posts. Failure to meet the requirement will result in a infraction or ban.
Updated on 3/17/09.

These seem to suggest that I (a relatively new member - joined 1 month ago and less than 50 posts so far) am allowed to buy from other members via the Outlet. I understand I cannot sell or trade and I have not tried to sell or trade. Can a mod clarify if I can use the Trading Outlet to buy items and/or explain why my recent attempt to buy a stick was shot down?
I’m not upset. If it turns out that I cannot buy via the Trading Outlet, that’s OK. I’ll just wait until I’m eligible. I just don’t want to be under the impression that I can buy from the instructions and then incur an infraction or ban due to misinterpreting the rules.
You can buy anything on what’s available. We do not discriminate to users who wish to purchase goods from the TO, those rules are provided in the situation of somebody wanting to sell or trade. In your case, you can buy from any person here that fulfills the selling/trading rules of 6 months/50 post. If the seller/trader has not fulfilled these requirements, then he shouldn’t be using the Trading Outlet.
Thanks for clarifying. That was my impression also. I was just curious why my attempt to buy a few days ago was shut down by a mod (at least according to the seller). I feel better about browsing the trade board now.
Is there a mechanism for reporting transactions and people who SHOULD NOT be allowed to sell things because they don’t meet the minimum membership length requirement AND the minimum posts?
I’m asking because this happens enough… many of these people are NOT listening to what the older members are telling them and DO NOT read any of the FAQs…
I wouldn’t go crazy on someone who’s been warned a few hours ago – give them a half or full day least before taking action(!) – but like I said this seems to happen more and more.
Clearly, this guy was told about the rules and he’s more than old enough by his profile (if it’s legit) to know that he has to wait and have 50 posts – unless he never bothered to read any FAQs or Forum rules.
