Update: Looks like all of the new items are counted as overheads when tossed with Anki Hou :h: Flower pots and stars are still counted as mid. Keep this in mind!
That’s nice to here. With the addition of stagger items, it should make it easier for Hsien-Ko to follow up after Anki Hou H.
Good news! Yeah, how long does the Servbot snowman freeze for? Enough time for you to follow up?
The freeze is really more of an abnormally long hitstun, so not really.
Just found out that Trish’s Low Voltage will reflect properly now - or at least will reflect one of the shots when multiple are being fired.
Also, hilariously, if Nova’s :h: Gravimetric Pulse makes contact with one of Hsien-Ko’s gongs, it becomes hers and will inflict damage / nullify any attacks that make contact with it. Might be worth tossing a gong out here and there against Nova just for that.
So i finally got the game and had the chance to play an all day Hsien-ko, Strange, Nemesis team.
First thing i noticed is the Hyper viper tenrai Ha with 5 bars is much easier to do than in vanilla, probably the recovery frames on tenrai ha were reduced. 2nd, she feels better(?) in movement and recovery overall, her speed was augmented somehow. And finally, her jump cancels and the anki hou new status effects really improve her zone game. The lack of a cancellable sempu bu is still noticeable but overall she feels much better.
Now (probably this belongs in the team making thread but still), speaking of my team, the synergy of the golden sempu bu with Nemesis is AMAZING. The assist keep the opponent at mid screen distance and the Nemesis player can use a j.down+H deadly reach to add pressure, a j.rocket launch, or go with wavedash and achieve a reset with the tentacle slam, staying 100% safe in every situation. I’m a Hsien-ko+Thor player, and overall it feels easier and safer to achieve a reset with the T.S. rather than with the mighty hurricane which always put Thor in some danger regardless of the assist.
And the synergy with Strange, while not amazing, is still pretty superb. Instant teleports+golden sempu bu equals instant crossups. The bolts of Balthakk is the assist to go for Dr.Strange. It adds a massive fullscreen pressure that combined with a gong (for personal protection), can lead to a 4 hits combo of two anki hou plus the two hits of the bolts for +200K damage. It also gives her a reset game similar to what LL.ND uses with Amaterasu Cold Star.
EDIT: Hsien-ko have a win quote over Iron Fist, so she was not totally screwed in the interaction with the new characters.
Aww man, that is great to hear. Everything sounds like I wanted it to. After watching some tourney and online streams, I was getting a little worried they wouldn’t be solid enough together. Now the wait is going to hurt.
And I thought she’d have a little dialogue with Fist and his Kung Fu theme. Do you remember what it was?
Hey, she still doesn’t have a quote against Wesker. That’s one of the most obvious pairings. Something like, “Your creations give a bad name to undead-kind everywhere. You deserved that beating.” which is the idea I thought she’d say to Nemesis, except with an added “Also, you’re ugly.” Against Frank, she could’ve had something like, “Stop taking pictures! I’m not an exhibit! And I’m not a zombie, either!” Come on Capcom!
Of course, a simple, “Fuck you man, you’re a dick.” would’ve sufficed for Wesker too.
^ It was something senjutsu related, a very long quote by the way, but i was not able to read it 100% since i pressed the instant A on the pad for another match and my friend just went to the option of changing characters.
I love the synergy between Nemesis and Hsien-Ko too (especially since they have similar DHC synergy as Hulk/Hsien using Rimoukon), I just wish he could get better corner pressure from the gold pendulum. Not that he needs it; like you said that mid-screen game with deadly reach pressure and command grab mixups backed up by Hsien-Ko is really scary. Still trying to find one of the new characters who can lock down in the corner really well with the assist.
Firebrand also gets great mid-screen mixups with Hsien-Ko using his command flight L and M, both of which are pretty easy to combo out of after the pendulum hits.
edit: And here’s a cool setup I came up with for Firebrand and Hsien-
End any combo with Firebrand using Bon Voyage, reset the opponent with s.L and call Hsien. Then Firebrand can safely go for the air throw or slide under with his c.H for a mixup. Even if they throw tech, they’ll be forced to block the pendulum.
Pretty sure Wesker players hear that enough as it is.
More Henkyo Ki updates - Storm’s Whirlwind will still win out from full screen versus a :h: Henkyo Ki, but this time Henkyo Ki will actually nullify most of the move. Only one hit will get through, and because of the nullification, you can safely block that last hit.
Looks like they actually did make an effort to try and get the gong properties to work properly…
Finally got it down, thanks a lot!
Hey, glad I could help.
I think I ran into a glitch today, but I’m not sure; and since there’s no replay feature I can’t really show you guys. But, I was playing Hsien against my friend’s Wesker. She was gold, and we both went for a throw. But as the “Breakaway!” sound and text came up, Hsien-Ko’s full grab animation came out and Wesker just stood there, not teching or geting thrown. The hell was that? I can’t recreate it in training mode either.
Yeah, I get the feeling that they did look at her a bit here and there. She ain’t perfect, but I’m not as disappointed as I expected to be.
Strange…
Curse it all, I won’t be getting Mahvel for a while yet and I wanna play the new Hsien Ko. Oh well, Dash will help me keep my chin up.
Hsien Ko to Nemesis (op): Whoa, your face is scary.
Strange to Hsien (end): Hmm, I may be able to help your situation… (but you already did in vanilla kind sir)
I was like: yesss, new game, no more Hsien Ko shenanigans for me!.. then I learned how much Iron Fist needs Hsien Ko and I ended up using her again lol. Anyone notice how the c.H f.H gong loop is easier? And is it just me or is the hyper ball loop muuuuch easier now? I rarely got all 5 in vanilla, but I get it all of the time now XF3 Hsien is decent… unless against Wesker or Magneto
I feel the same for her corner combo. On vanilla, I always avoided the 3rd gong loop, and now, I can somehow do the combo consistently on online with noticeable lag. Funny enough, I’m somehow struggling on my Tenraiha loops. It might be the mashing on hypers thing messing up my timing. Speaking of Iron Fist, his wave dash is incredibly fast that I have enough time for Hsien-Ko to do Chireitou, hard tag to Iron Fist, then dash up close and do his Volcanic Roar hyper and have it hit.
Same here. I feel lazy for asking all of these questions and making suggestions while not playing myself lol.
And I want to see that ending. It’s, like, Cactus fanservice with Thor and Lei Lei facing off against Jedah and Loki leading the Red Earth bosses.
But that ending is her writing a fancomic and Lin Lin being a dick.
The untechable time on :f::h: was increased, meaning the opponent can’t escape as quickly as before. So that’s what you’re feeling.
lin lin is the best
I’m in love with jump cancel Edoga, it really pulled hsien-ko together as a character. Right now I’m trying to work on a mixup with strange’s bolts after a edoga jump cancel. The first bolt will hit after the edoga without any normals from Hsien-Ko, but I’m having a hard time teleporting/airdashing to the other side before the next bolt hits, but hsien-ko moves so slow still…
Depending on the distance you need to close, you might try plink dashing. It might not fully apply to your situation or you may already know of it. Although I just want to make sure you know it’s an option to help your mobility.
