… what other characters even HAVE TK-able throws? I mean, in order for a move to be TK-able, it has to have a motion. Just jumping and pressing a button right away doesn’t give you a “TK j.C”
Ill have to bear that in mind! I’m guessing they’re not really combo-able after unless you’re in the corner though??
I think it depends on the character - I know that Tsubaki can get her choice of like 3k (more or less depending on how good your comboes are), heavy corner carry, or Astral off an air throw midscreen. Hazama can get like 4k off a midscreen air throw. Noel and Makoto both get big rewards off them as well, IIRC, but on the other hand, I think Lambda needs to be able to RC her air throw animation to follow up. I don’t know offhand what Ragna can do off one though.
I played some more games today, some ranked and then some with a guy that i played against online the first time i tried online play. He was getting 4k Combos with ragna without heat (Maybe a RC here and there though) But he has so much better execution, he did convert a low ish air grab into a combo i believe too, something along the lines of : Air Throw, Air Gauntlet Hades, High jump, j.c, j.d, JC, j.c, Belial Edge etc. etc. .
Managed that corner combo air grab on a few people, does a lot of damage! Been RCing Hell’s Fang into 6C more, managed a corner carry with the 5D and 5C then got into a corner belial edge combo, ending in just an ax kick, though I STILL need to practice j.c, j.d, JC, j.c, j.d, “D” ID, upper, ax kick as i always seem to miss the ID because of bad execution i think.
Did pretty well pressure wise, caught someone with the 6C (1) Dash, Backwards throw trick, still need to practice my backward throw combos though, getting used to the first dash after the throw however.
Getting there slowly!
Still need to work on my execution of B.Throw/6C > Dash > 5D > Dash. > 5C as well as the air combo with the “D” Inferno divider ending.

Found a few new combos from backwards throw and 6C, im managing to do hjc cancels of 5C now which is good because the midscreen 6C > (5C) > 5D > Dash > 5C > HJC, j.c, j.d, JC. j.c, BE, 5D, Dead Spike, D inferno divider, upper, Ax kick is quite a strong combo! Also started adding hits into my regular corner combo so its like. 5B, 6A, JC, j.c, j.d, JC, j.c, BE, 5c, 5d, dead spike, 5c, D infero divider, upper, ax kick. Puts it up to just over 3000 damage which is good.
Cant do the dash 5d, dead spike, dash c, hjc, combo from 6C or B.Throw but i can do it with just a 5d at least! Found an easier option from a backwards throw just to go b.throw, 5b, 5d, dash, 5b, 5d, “D” inferno divider, upper, ax (or straight if near corner, then 5d, dead spike, ID, upper, ax) doesnt do as much but its handy to push them into the corner.
Still not sure how people manage to do 5c, 5d (1), DS, 2c, 5d, d “id” in the corner after a Belial edge, the cpu always aerial rolls after the 2c.
Played some arcade today, and some legion just for fun. finished ragna’s story mode to 100% and then played some online. im about 22 PSR at the moment and it was putting me against people who were 70 PSR and above so I didn’t do too well, got a win here and there though. Currently at 29% win rate.
Don’t sweat it. I consider myself a pretty good player and my win rate’s about 45%.
Got a bit better since I last posted in this thread, adapted to Extend pretty well I’d say. Played a 700ish PSR Hakumen the other day, managed to get one win in a fair few games, I think it was just because he’d stopped throwing counters out on wakeup because I tended to dash at him and go for a grab. Or if he jumped to avoid the grab, get a 6A/Inferno Divider in there.
What I tend to do is wait for Hakumen’s signature air dash and either block his j.2c + punish or use Inferno Divider. ID is a pretty good anti-air with invincibility frames but with a tricky timing.
Played 18 ranked matches and won all 18 because 11 of those 17 different players were Ragna players. I played one guy twice then everyone else once.
Every Ragna I’ve played so far does the exact same shit. They pick Ragna for extend because he is high tier and they all do the exact same combo and use the exact same tactics. They use 5B as a crutch, grab a lot and mash ID during block strings.
On wakeup I press 5A twice to bait the ID and something that easy actually god damn works. Free 6K punish.

Yeah I was trying to do that, I found that whenever I jumped in I’d just get clobbered by his… j.C I assume it is. So I tried to just stay back to fish for an airdash with and then catch it with 6A or ID. There were a few times in my matches where I’d do an ID or 6A too late but I caught him a few times at least. With his counter I tried to do mostly grabs/lows as he was waking up, then when he started to jump I’d catch the jump with a 6A or ID, but in the match I won he just kinda… stopped countering on wakeup. The matches are on my youtube, just in case you’re curious… or just bord.

I’ve not seen any Ragna’s so far mashing ID during blockstrings, I didn’t think that worked in BB, but yeah, I see a lot of wakeup IDs, I try my best to stay away from that ‘tactic’ unless someone’s very clearly just running at me ready to throw something out.
Only bad Hakumen players lean heavily on his airdash now - he has excellent range on his normals and Kishu is stupid good now. He’s an incredible footsies character, so he doesn’t really need to use his airdash unless he’s either facing a zoning character, or his player is impatient (in which case, really, he shouldn’t be playing Hakumen.)
I’ll have to remember to bait me some Inferno Dividers, but that means I have to beat Ragna at footsies first. -_-

Yup. Found it for a reasonable price used on Amazon. And to my surprise, it was the “Special Edition” with all the other bits.
Hooked the Xbox up to the old CRT TV, so I’m actually playing the game lag free, and holy crap, it makes a huge difference. =/ But it looks so ugly. So sad.

Haha yeah, the last time I had played BB back in CS2 I still didn’t know much about lag and such, I was playing on a CRT since I have a super old HDTV, but I was playing through my capture card’s recording program which adds like 4-6 frames. Got myself a nice HDMI splitter and a VH226H and things are a lot better now, I’m not 100% on it but I’m landing Ragna’s ID > dash under combo enders for the first time ever.
Exactly. =( In all seriousness, my biggest problem fighting Ragna is that I literally CAN’T get near him. His normals are absurd, and sooner or later I -will- fail to block something, and then it’s “welcome to the corner, we hope you enjoy your Dead Spike pressure.”
All the more reason to not have to lean on his Air Dash.
I play Bang, I’ve played around 20,000 games and I honestly have thought Ragna has been strong in each version, When did he ever get any huge nerfs? Everyone has had a ride of the nerf train aside from him. Bad times.
Now I am slightly salty. CS1 Bang > CS2 was a sad, sad day.
I don’t think he got huge nerfs so much as other people got buffs when he didn’t, that and from CT > CS1 > CS2 they didn’t nerf him so much as change a ton of his stuff, while he wasn’t necessarily ‘weaker’, outside of B > C > Hell’s Fang blahbbity-blah you pretty much had to relearn the entire damn character at every iteration.
From CS2 > CSX You needed to replace 5D air hits with 6B. That’s more or less it.
Feel sorry for Litchi players + Jin players. They genuinely have new characters more or less. (Not taking this out on you, by the way, sorry if I come across as an ass)
Yeah CS2 > CSE was totally different, they added stuff but they didn’t really remove anything. You can more or less do everything the way you did in CS2 with some 6B spliced in like you said and replacing dash 3C with dash 6A.
I agree, but this is because I play Tsubaki, and Ragna has always been one of her worst matchups just due to how the character WORKS.
