New to Devil Trigger. Tips?

Xuses is an alright player, but he’s had the same tech since month one of ultimate marvel, every time I watch his videos I see nothing new, and his Vergil/Dante combos are pretty stale in comparison to what we have been figuring out in the past few months, and he makes everyone else look free because most of the players he fights aren’t even that good.

O ok. I guess he is one of those “Stick with what works” guys. I can respect that, but it is cool to see new tech. Someone needs to go ahead and start a “flying ve” thread so people can post what they do while they are doing it. I really want to see someone using it effectively, because the only thing I’ve used it for is trolling my friends and trapping them in the corner in player matches. Reminds me of the stand jab pressure from SFxT lol.

Well jeez, look what happens when someone asks a question about Dante. Those unoptimized combos are probably the only thing the poor guy could find out.

Dante has a lot of cool stuff in Devil Trigger, it recieves the most boosts of any power-up special in the game(i could be wrong, but don’t think so), you could abuse Vortex, or if you want you could use 2 or 3 Million Catarats at the start of a combo, with a right assist you could use 4 or maybe even 5 in the same combo so the damage goes high, also your resets options become a lot better, you could end a combo in devil trigger bait them to rushdown you use a jump backdash and then a forward dash into j.h, well that is the basic devil trigger stuff we all know, there are a lot more of tricks but i think this cover the main ones.

Thanks for your post. I see your alternate team is Dante and morrigan with the same assists I use. Is there anything special you do with them two that we might not know about? I never see Dante and morrigan, so I just wanted to ask.

Well maybe a lot of the people here know about most of dante/morrigan stuff, but i will post the most relevant anyways, first the safe dhc’s both of them get(morrigan illusion hyper is not ‘‘safe’’ but helps again whiffed Million Dollars or just if you want to get out Dante) , the pair itself are some of the most safest characters in this game, dante can BC all his normals making them completely safe, and morrigan in fly mode can unfly everything(maybe not phoenix wright lvl 3, but he should be dead if you use morrigan spam about the time he gets in turnabout) to be safe, i think the stuff i love doing more with morrigan is stealing meter with morrigan with the help of dante, if you use dante’ jam session in a morrigan combo you have enough time to do a fireball stealing meter(forgot the name) , i think also maybe alpha shoryuken assist maybe good for this duo, with this assist if you THC after a hard knowckdown in a morrigan combo you use the Shadow servant hyper with Dante’s Million Dollars, because Dante’s hyper is so long, you can sue the fireball stealing meter 2 times, so you can steal about 1 bar of the opponent in one combo, also Jam Session Makes Morrigan zoning much better, the reason why i use y-assist is because i start with Dante and a lot of times i don’t do THC, also alpha assist can let you combo of an airgrab with dante in a corner, and lets you use another acid rain in a combo, but i think the assist is dependant on the player playstyle, because i use vergil on anchor i prefer sometimes dark harmonizer, so he comes with like 4 bars and can abuse spiral swords, and lets you abuse Dante’s devil trigger a lot more, well that is some stuff , vergil and doom are the best anchors IMO if you play this duo, vergil enjoys so much the meter and doom optimizes zoning and keepayay game like no else, hope it helps you dude.

PD:sorry if i went off-topic with some things.

I wish meter was more plentiful in this game, like 3.0. I used to use Devil Trigger more than like everyone. Now I only use it like once or twice every few matches. All I do with Dante is run away, block, and spam Air Play though, so Devil Trigger just adds to that.

There’s also other applications though, such as using it to wear out an opponent’s XF time. Just doing Vortex across the screen, jumping to readjust yourself, then Vortex’ing back again (repeat until you’ve used all your extra jumps) eats up a good bit of time. I mean sure, eventually you have to come down, but no one smart is going to hang out beneath Dante. Suicide. I’ll sometimes spend 2 bars just flying around in Devil Trigger spamming lightning and Vortex so I don’t have to deal with derp anchors. Paying 2 bars is way better than paying 2 characters.

Or you can superjump, activate flight, and then fly around shooting lightning (I think you get 5 in flight mode as opposed to the normal 3, probably more like 4 though). Or just airdash around. Either way it frustrates them.

Generally speaking, if your Dante is on the aggressive side, then DT isn’t the best thing for you. You should be spending your bars to kill characters, mostly. If you have like 4 bars handy? Sure, consider burning one for DT. I play a much more defensive Dante, however, and because Viper and Dante are both such good batteries, I have meter lying around that needs to be used. I’ll kill most anyone with two bars anyway, and as long as Strider has 1-2 bars coming in with XF3, he’s good to go. So for my team, DT is a pretty viable option, but that’s just because of how I choose to play the game. In my opinion, DT is more like Dante’s ultimate defensive tool than anything else.

@Husteen: Since you’re running Bolts, I’m thinking you like to go in more, and since Dante is your point character, whereas he’s my second, I’m not totally sure that DT is something you should spend a lot of time on. Just be careful how and when you use that meter, since Dante is the primary battery on your team. Devil Trigger doesn’t make landing hits any easier though, so it’s a tough call as to whether or not you can open someone up in the time that it’s available and get that extra damage. Using it defensively is a way better option, but I’m not sure if that’s how you’d want to approach Dante anyway.

@[Chrono]: i actually came up with a corner morrigan combo with dante’s jam session that allows for a soul drain. it’s probably not optimized, and it’s kind of pointless because the rest of the combo gives the opponent back their meter >.> when my morrigan’s on point, i like to call jam session right as the opponent is coming in, jump back with morrigan, use soul drain, fly, and they usually get hit because the jam session is so fast. i just haven’t found a way to combo off of it yet.

@Cosmic_Castaway: hmm, your post really got me to thinking. i hear ya on the meter nerf. in ultimate, i get to the end of my dante combo, and he almost gets to three/four meter but not quite. i dislike that.

some players suggest running away with DT, but i think running away is kind of rude lol. however, i’ll obviously play more on the defensive side against characters like hulk. i especially don’t consider spending the one bar for DT worth it just to run away for a few seconds. reason being is dante’s million dollars allows morrigan do DHC into either her finishing shower OR level 3 from full screen! i’ve done things like dante combo>million dollars, DHC morrigan’s level 3, shadow servant to kill the high health character. so if dante has 4 or 5 meters with morrigan behind him, the opposing character is dead.

wow, i have gotten 5 thunderbolts with fly! it scales a lot, but it might be better for chip damage.

my dante is definitely on the aggressive side. i just think rushdown is fun. dante’s a bully characters, so there ya go. i just figured devil trigger aided dante’s rushdown with the pushblocking nullifying moves, damage boost, etc. i used to think he got a speed boost, but that’s wrong. most of all, he can’t build meter during it. those all lead me to believe it’s more of an offensive tool. i’ve been toying around with million carats/hysteric>devil trigger, but it’s not working out too well. the bar goes to waste if i don’t get a hit. it’s even more important for me to get a hit while in DT because i can call morrigan’s meter assist while doing a combo, a.k.a. building meter during DT! one thing that’s really useful, that someone already mentioned, was using million carats> devil trigger at the end of combos if the opponent’s about to die instead of using million dollars, waiting a year for it to finish, and losing his acid rain incoming mixup.

to me, devil trigger is worth it if i can at least get as much damage as a hyper (both cost one bar) would have done. thunderblot+bolts of balthakk is pretty good in that case. i find that bolts is really good for dante btw: it makes his teleport even more tricky. outside of replacing million dollars for devil trigger against characters that are about to die, do you think there’s any reason for me to use DT? why do people say use it against characters like zero? if you activate devil trigger and tag dante out, will his red life heal even faster than normal?

Well technically your opponent build a bar when you are doing the combo and you steal away it, also if you wanna abuse devil trigger you need all the meter you can, i use DT like once or twice in a match, also is better to do a devil trigger combo instead of a DHC because morrigan DHC’s don’t do much damage, here is my DT combo it does 925k :

Hammer>Million Catarats>DT>Million Catarats>s.S(delay the launcher the most you can)>j.M>j.H>Killer Bee>back dash into s.S~s.H(shots)>Stinger>BC Teleport>Hammer>Volcano~Beehive>Million Dollars.

If you use sentinel drones or some other assists(or maybe gun shot loops) in the combo you reach the 1,000,000 damage, so well i think devil trigger combos are better sometimes because morrigan DHC aren’t that good and doing another one will change your team order, most of the times i go for a reset because in devil trigger you get more mobility and reset options.

IMO even if the only thing Devil Trigger gave you was access to Vortex and Thunderbolt, it would still be worth the meter

I love how dante has the best special moves in the game, also you have the fly with the most active frames, triple jump, two airdashes, yeah devil trigger is godlike.

What’s the most damaging combo off of an air :s: while already in devil trigger?
