Ay…bought a new game that I will play for more than 2 days. This Motorstorm Apocalypse is too sick. Been out for a few months but don’t know how it slipped under my radar. And I’m not even a racing fan at all, but this is probably the best I’ve ever played. Not for simulation reasons, if you want that then go get Gran Turismo and do chores. But in that the graphics, music, gameplay, presentation, amount of vehicle types, environments, characters, story(lol), customization, and insanity is too on point. And if any of you played Speed Devils for DC, then this is like the psychotic spiritual successor in art style, environmental hazards, and emphasis on betting.
I haven’t played online yet, which I heard is the meat of the game, but there’s a perk system lol. Every game has to have that nowadays I guess.
But yea, EXTREMELY glad I picked this up. Just wish I had sooner. Cuz I was wondering why there’s like $300 worth of DLC for it on PSN. I don’t even make time to play games anymore, but I can see myself on this awhile. Plus, I’m going to be pretty much forced to wreck shit and play online because like 90% of the games content has to be unlocked through online.
Oh yea btw, it’s a PS3 exclusive. Just found out all the Motorstorm games are. And Gran Turismo 5 is too(but nobody actually “plays” that game. They just buy it to have it in their homes and feel good about themselves). Wow, it’s like, all they will give you motherfuckers are aliens to kill. No lie though, I almost copped a 360 for GeOW3 in this dry spell. That’s the only reason you 360 boys can look me in my eye. Gears of Wars series, MoTW on XBL, and plinks coming out good or whatever. That’s it. Otherwise it’s black George Foreman grill until the death of me.
How would you say it matches up with Split/Second and GRID? Those are my 2 fav racing games ever …
Strangely enough I have almost zero interest in GoW. I’ve been playing the shit out of Space Marine though. I’ve logged a ton of hours in the multiplayer, and I haven’t even touched the campaign yet. I’m looking forward to settling in and playing the story mode though, mainly because of shit like this: The ending is especially badass.

Better imo if you’re not wanting a sim. I played Split/Second and the gimmick wears off afterawhile. Never played GRID, but heard good things.
Thing is, Apocalypse is meant for competitive play. So many different vehicle classes, all on the track at the same time, but with different attributes to the vehicle and reaction to various terrain in environments. It does an honest effort to keep stuff balanced. Plus the perk system which allows you custom loadouts but doesn’t get too crazy I heard. Everything that’s anything to unlock, is done throughout online. But there’s even 4p splitscreen locally and 2p splitscreen for online, both of which are very rare for games nowadays.
Morseo than anything, the company is supporting the game. Sure there’s a fuckton of DLC, but they’ve been patching stuff for months by listening to the community. Some dude on the leaderboard who was known for wrecking people died. The studio released a commemorative dirt bike(I think the guy preferred dirt bikes) in honor of the guy. 2 other people who were his online pals collaborated with the company to help design it. May not be much to many people, but I think that’s pretty damn cool and considerate. Shows dedication to fans and appreciation to player base.
I only mostly prefer extreme arcade style or trick racers, but Apocalypse gives this intense feeling and adrenaline rush I haven’t felt since…hell, like Burnout 3 or something. I went to the store just to buy 2 Red Bulls to down while I play this shit. I don’t know man. I’m actually at home during the day playing a game for once. With the volume on blast and using profane language. Maybe you should try it?
Abe, I was on SM for about a week. Faithfully. Got rid of it though because they didn’t fix the PS3 servers before I got tired of waiting in a lobby for 40mins. No seriously, all bs aside. 40mins-an hour. Had to actually log back on GFaqs to meet guys so we could set up private matches and invite people. They’ve fixed the servers now and prob released that free horde mode too, but I don’t have the game anymore. Shame, because it was fucking good. Made me want to learn about Warhammer universe. And the single player gets way better around the second act too. I think I was Level 16 on multiplayer before I got rid of it. I think it was really balanced, just got to watch out for the guys with the steroid perks and any good Assault class with hammer and “Killing Blow” equipped. Real talk, a few dudes learned how to triangle jump with Assault class and it became a warzone.

Yea I know, that’s why I said I kinda wish I still had the game. But as I think about it, I don’t even know if I wanna buy it back now though.I get overwhelmed if I’m playing or trying to make time for more than 1 or 2 titles nowadays. And next month is when everything drops. I bought the Apocalypse just to keep my hands tied interest wise, as well as competitively, until the onslaught of titles roll in. Also I supposed to join that Ratchet All 4 One beta before 9/27. Plus with my current backlog, there prob won’t be anytime for Space Marine even if Heather found it for $10 lol. Maybe if I had it on 360 and were playing with you, but…sigh.

Sigh…this made Ultimate Comics dead to me. Peter Parker is Spider-Man just like nobody else can really be Captain America because Steve Rogers IS Captain America. They embody the character, it’s not just about who’s wearing the suit. The costume is cool though, one of the better Spidey variants.
If I had a choice in who would have taken Parker’s place it would have been Ultimate Miguel O’Hara and with the color scheme of that costume I really thought it was gonna be him. Then they went and put in a character that’s never even existed. This shit probably was a Quesada move and Bendis had no say. Dude is always fuckin with the Spidey legacy.
