I just realized I havent given shout outs to everybody from last weekend yet. To everybody in the Memphis crew, thanks for showing us a good time and being all around strong players, Squab gets a major thanks for letting us crash at his place. You guys are very lucky to have such a tight knit community, and your play reflects that. To my Nashville peeps, its always fun chilling with you guys and I honestly havent laughed as hard as I did this weekend in a long while.
Id also like to give a shoutout to my shitty play all weekend lol. I missed so much easy stuff, I dont know if it was my nerves or whatever but man, I’m really disappointed in myself, but it is what it is I guess. Just gotta keep playing.

But the thing with the restaurant, at risk of making one last essay post, is you guys can’t jump in on the ass-end of me and Rell’s arguments. It’s oftentimes a huge wtf if you weren’t there for the beginning or have no background in crazy occurrences. We have these at least once every other day and the one in discussion was years old. It tickled him for me to look like a confused jackass in front of you all, so he didn’t bother explaining what he and a few others already know about me. Which is, first, that I’m phasing out of the whole gaming stuff. I come around when I’m bored, and I felt obligated to come to tourney to support and obviously kick it with peeps. The fact that I obviously care as much about this shit nowadays as a “squirrel with ADD” (courtesy of Squab lmao) should’ve ended the whole discussion.
Second thing is what Rell, Bishop, Marcus, Mel, and other peeps been knowing is that in the immediate vicinity of people I usually play with, or will be playing with the most for particular game, I opt to NOT use characters that others use, or at least main them. This started back in GG days when the whole group of us who played were mad serious, and there were already like 4 or 5 “top players” in the group. In order to consistently make noise in the scene and place well, there had to be knowledge of ALL characters. Obviously this could be better achieved if each of us used a diff character and you also had guys able to use multiple characters at high level. Needless to say, this carried over for me as I get bored with these games after a while. Not having mirrors all day obviously adds variety right?
My original comment that started the bs was, “Man…if I played the charas that I really wanted to in games, it’d prob be different.” Then all hell broke lose and confusion. So just for clarification, in SF4, i always “liked” Honda. Hell, I started using him in SF2 because all my friends used shotos and the urge for variety started then. I said I LIKED Guy. Then dudes were like, “Yew shuld use Guy. Yew maykin excuses. Shaddup and learn Guy. Shaddup just learn him.” My thing was, why would I learn Guy when, first of all, I don’t even want to play this game AT ALL. Plus the fact that he wasn’t in Vanilla, which is when I built my basis for the game and the shit that I STILL do. Everyone knows I stopped caring about the game during Vanilla, so if Guy was brought back in Super, and I still didn’t care, why should I “learn him, main him, etc”? I’m not even a Honda player. i don’t play SF4. I USE Honda whenever I randomly play the game because, of course, he’s most comfortable to me. I’m not gonna put time into learning Guy adequately when I don’t even put time into stuff I halfway like. It doesn’t make any sense. Plus the fact that when Super dropped and I random picked Guy, I was STILL winning matches against cats. And I didn’t like how Guy played in this, i thought he was particularly weak for my style of play. Plus Bishop started maining him and Ibuki from jump. This is who I played the most Super with. Wasn’t about to be any lame Guy mirrors everyday, with me fishing for 4-piece FF combo because it’s the only thing I could do with him. Fuck that.
But anyway, I do/WILL play charas I truly like. It’s just that most times we get our hands on games, we either call dibs on charas before or I take what’s left. Bishop violates, but that’s cool. Abe said that when FS drops he’s using Taka. Well, I been confirmed deep down in the bottom of my heart that if they brought back Taka after VF3, that I was gonna play him. So if I play VF5FS, I’m playing Taka. Even if me and Abe were to be the only ones playing, I’d still be using Taka. But I also play Jeff. And I’d prob learn another chara or two. Tekken, I like AK yea. I use him. But I’m not maining AK. Clark plays him(“shaddup dats ah stoopid reesun”), but I think AK is so dry in T6. So fuck that. In GG, I started out liking Jam. Played her like a fucking female version of Liu Kang. Like a jackass. We had like, 3 Jam players here already. No Johnnys after Big Jio quit. So fuck, Johnny’s cool enough already, and better fit my personal style of play. I like I-No too. But there’s certain “requirements” you need when trying to use her seriously. I already don’t have the best execution, and everyone knows I’m lazy, so it wasn’t any of that “play who you like” shit. I could have fantasies about her every night. People here still knew better than to tell me to play her. And without stick no less? Half-assed pad I-No? That shit was outta my jurisdiction.
So long story short, all of you have characters that you like, and don’t play. Yea not playing charas cuz others play them is dumb, but if I like someone enough, then that breaks that rule. Plus, all of you like some charas that you might not want to put the time into or whatever. Never have put the time into. I’m lazy as fuck. I didn’t even learn jab->hands with Honda back when I played the game. You dudes think I’m gonna put this shit into my PS3 to learn fucking…Guy? And the arcs of his elbow drop and other technical shit on top of the execution that he needs to win? When I can just use a tank like Honda and do silly mixups and try to guess right? Charge character? Gimmicks? Hits hard? Can take a beating? I CAN’T EVEN DO MOTIONS ON STICK. If I played this fat motherfucker the same way I have been for all the iterations of this game and patches to come, I’d still be ok and if I had more patience then who knows? But we’ll never find out. 
P.S. The most hilarious thing was Cylus being the ultimate tier-whore telling people to play who their heart tells them lololol. And Sev’s ass, trying to preach dreams to people since he mains Gen and I HEARD(keyword heard) that his is kind of funky. When he was proudly maining Abel’s top tier ass in Super, he was chill as hell with the buffs they gave that chicken headed fucker. Now he’s put in work with Gen and grew curly hair on his chest, feeling good, he’s gonna chastise me. Lmao. Fuck it. I like Viper. I’m gonna use Viper and burn kick spam since the input is only a partial motion. No feints, jump cancels, or hammers(that shit is an srk!). I’m just gonna burn kick the skin off bitches on my way to sponsorship and hold fast to that dream. Yes.

Anyway, REAL TALK incoming - I never understood the whole “well if you think that character is so good/busted/broken, then why don’t you use them?” mentality. To me, that defeats the whole purpose of a fighting game. Why create such a broad and diverse character roster, offering opportunities for a myriad of playstyles, if everyone is going to be encouraged to play the same character?
Case in point - the whole Yun AE fiasco. We all know about Ono going on record saying that they intentionally made him so stupid to “promote a competitive spirit.” Good shit Ono-san. Either make everyone hate the game, or make everyone want to play the same character.
Sure, I could pick up Yun. Put some solid hours into him, then start doing pretty well, but to me, that’s horseshit. While he is good, there is no guarantee that a player would gel well with Yun, and maybe I am defeating my own argument with that statement, but conversely, the same thing could be said about any character.
I could also just be an idiot…but I doubt it.

I know a lot of people in Memphis had the Asus monitors and I know a few people in Nashville have them, where did you guys order them? Does anyone have the LED version vs. the LCD version? Is the lag (lack thereof) the same?
And as far as characters, for me its pretty random what character I’ll use.
Guilty Gear it was Ky, mostly because all my friends at the time used Sol, and his sword was cool as hell. Tried to play Jin in BB but yeahhhh… no.
Alpha 3 was Akuma because thats when I first found out about the shun goku satsu lol. But then, I switched to Dan because I thought he was awesome and actually good.
Vs. Series was kind of random, mostly Cyclops and Chun-Li through the early games, tried to learn some top tiers in MvC2 just 'cause,
Tekken 3 was Jin, then I went on a ninja kick for a while, played Raven in Tekken 5, Taki in whatever SC game was out at the time. The ninja kid in Garou, ummm some others I cant think of.
Gado/his daughter in the Bloody Roar series. Roy in Rival Schools. Old Link in Smash. Most other games I never played enough to actually stick with a character.
Now I suppose I pick characters based on their ability to have very decisive wins and hit hard. Urien is a good example as is when a Viper is really on fire.
