I don’t even use Gmail…I never had a reason to use Gmail for some reason…and I have never used Picasa, Voice, or Reader…I use Skype sometimes (used to more in California) but nothing of that works for me at all unfortunately in correlation to Google+
Facebook is smart for seeing some good points in Google+ and copying it…why not? Everyone copied Friendster… but again, Facebook won the battle…
G+ sounds like the only kind of social networking I would be even remotely interested in. I never got the appeal of having a million random people you aren’t really close with and having them as friends. Also all the other nonsense that goes along with it is just beyond stupid to me poking, lists ect.
Ugh… I’m still feeling dizzy from a bad headache I had last night. >_O
On that note, another nice thing about G+ is that if someone adds you, you don’t have to add them back. And those you do add you have control over what updates you see from them, and when.
I see how G+ has its ups compared to fb but in the end fb will most likely always hold the larger market share. It’s kind of like Mac and PC. Yeah you say your version looks snazzy and all that but my system works just fine and there are more of us so imma chill ova here.
Actually, this is quite fundamentally untrue. Facebook is the largest and most valuable social network. But, I think you’ll be surprised at what Google’s cloud application infrastructure is like in 5 years. Google+ in a way is in competition with Facebook. However, it’s also quite different in ways that will become more clear in time.
Think about this. Google seems to be creating applications that replace an individual’s need to purchase software or even store data on their own computer. Google will be providing a “dumb” interface directly to their cloud ‘desktop’ system. Low-cost hardware will provide incredible connectivity and functionality. In some contexts desktop applications will be coming to an end. You see the same thing happening with OnLive. OnLive actually works and it works quite well. They’re basically waiting for the next massive infrastructure update before they become a REALLY big deal. They may get bought out by another company and the product may launch under another name. But, the technology will be the same. Cloud based computing will absolutely be the primary reality for a vast majority of users.
You are right in that Google+ is more useful for the cutting-edge tech demographic that is aware of and explores opportunities provided by continuously updated technology.
In the end Facebook may have more active users. But, without the infrastructure change that their organization simply cannot support they will never be able to compare with (and it’d be against their best interest to try) the Google cloud application infrastructure. I need to find a new way of expressing that idea. “Google cloud application infrastructure.”
Facebook is too big to change their trajectory. And they could never hope to catch up to the plan that Google hatched half a decade or more ago. They need to just… well… i don’t really know what they can do. They’ll have to find something. I wouldn’t be sad if the whole thing just died But, it won’t. Google+ doesn’t seem to try to pair you up with jerks that you use to know.
Kinda surprised to find that Kuroda has been playing AE. And he’s using Ryu of all people… I read somewhere that Air confirmed that he has joined Totalheads along with PoongKO and MOV. It kinda figured that he would follow MOV wherever he went since they always team up and train together in 3s. Apparently he tried to qualify for AE at SBO and used Yun but failed miserably, but did beat Eita though.
After reading the earlier post, I can definitely see why someone would choose G+ over FB. At the same time, yall talkin like you HAVE to add everyone that sends you a request on FB. Since we’re on the topic of social networking. What are you guys thoughts on Twitter?
I’m not saying you have to. I’m just saying that you probably did.
I only use Twitter for business related posting. I have a following that specifically doesn’t care about my lunch. I could lose followers and thus lose traffic if I started posting about non-development topics. I personally don’t understand what personal Twitter accounts have to offer.
I dont get twitter either unless its somehow work related. Why should anyone care what you just ate, or what picture you just took or where you were ect.
That being said I am not fond of forced work social networking either whether it be something like Linked-In or there own proprietary system.
