I am actually really happy with it centering on CHun Li she was always my favorite character and The one I always picked as my street fighter of choice. I was never a Ryu or Ken fan at all. (Despite really enjoying the current series being centered on Ryu and all)
so I am thrilled to see it based on CHUN LI, But ya I hope they dont do a DOA , I mean the fights were cool and all but it just felt cheap
I actually really like the first Mortal Kombat movie so I hope they go that route
the first mortal kombat movie was good but after that it just all went a bit pair shaped the live action tv series was pretty good but had very little to do with the games
but even mk the movie was a bit to afraid to use all the effects they could have at the time in fear of putting of the general movie going public when we all know its only going to be gamers going to see these movies anyway

No way Kelly Hu would be a better Chun Li then Zhang Ziyi. I didn’t evn know who she was, which forced me look her up. In my opinion Zhang Ziyi has the Star power to make this movie a hit. She is an already proven, and respected actress and action star. I have seen a couple of Kelly Hu’s movie, and don’t think she can carry this movie to success. Kelly Hu’s fighting scenes don’t even compare to Zhang Ziyi’s. Oh yeah, Lucy Lui would be an awesome Ibuki.

Kelly Hu isnt fit to be chunli cause of the fact that she cant fight worth crap. Zhang Ziyi is the babe to go, but like thats going to happen? And with chunli as the leading character, things dont look too bright for this new SF movie. They might as will give bison his own movie too. Hey why not Sakura too and while we’re at it, how about ingrid too. the horror the HORROR

I wouldn’t go as far as saying a Karate black belt can’t fight. But I would say from what I have seen in past Kelly Hu movies, I would say Kelly has a fights more like a Cammy than she does a Chun-Li. As for Ziyi she to me fights more like a Chun-Li. One actress who I would like to see as Chun-Li would be Michelle Yeoh. I don’t know the odds of that happening since Michelle may be a bit too old for the producer to consider her.

And as for the matter of the actress “fighting” like Chun Li, thats just not gonna happen. Its not gonna be like the Udon comic where they copy kicks and punches from the game. The fighting will be the same no matter who the actress is.
I know its impossible for either actress to fight exactly like Chun-Li. What I’m trying to say is that when I see Ziyi in a fight scene I think Chun-Li. So sue me. I think Kelly could do Chun-Li but I would rather seel Ziyi do so. I know she looks a little younger than she actually is but C’mon! Twelve?!?!
As for speaking perfect English. WTH? Chun-Li ain’t American anyway. All the actress would need to do is rehearse the lines a few times to get them good.

Anywho, lets get down to reality, I think for a fight scene if I was really into that I’d get Ziyi, but take into account Ziyi probably costs a lot of money to afford, so…you can always go for the underclassmen, Kelly Hu. Kelly Hu looks sort of like a Chun Li, and tall like one also, and she’s not completely all asianese like that 1994 movie. But, Chun Li has brown hair…
Well, in terms of anime, I can tell ya this…how many anime have been successful in a box office along with being released on a national level and not select cities. At least one, and that was Howl’s Moving Castle, and well the other movie made by the same director. But we should take a game series into consideration that has been known worldwide, Final Fantasy Spirits Within…well, that caused the downfall of SquareSoft, so live action = money making.

Chun Li’s past childhood, growing up to be an interpol agent and fighting against people, okay bison, blah.
The main reason I would like Zhang Ziyi as Chun Li is that she will bring some respectability to the film. I believe if she was on board that others will follow, such as a good fight choreographer and director. Kelly Hu just does not have that star power. She is a hottie, but she to is getting up there in age, 38 I believe. I am already cynical about this movie becuase I already do not like the film company that is doing it. They have made no movies of great interest to me. Oh, and who says live action sucks, and that they wont be able to do their special moves. Have u seen 300 trailer? It was made by Legendary film company, and is the same company that will be doing the world of warcraft movie. Just wish they were also doing the SF movie. It’s all about the support and film direction they want to take.
