New Sticky Rules - Effective 8/2/09

OK it’s definitely a fact that the stickies are getting really over crowded and its kinda of a pain to notice anything. Now I propose a few solutions even better than these new rules that I think would make everyone a lot happier. Rules can stay I personly think they are fine.

Solution 1) Make 2 new sections one for majors and one for locals
Solution 2) Make the tournament section like the regional match making section where there are 9 regions and you can just post it in your correct region. You could also make a separate Majors section for just majors that way only locals go in the regional section.

I think solution 2 would be everyones dream come true. It would be super neat and easy for everyone to find what they are looking for. Since I’m from CT and we don’t have that many tournaments I’ve actually missed some due to the fact that I didn’t see it in middle of the 100 other stickies.

Hope this constructive criticism helps, because the rules will help clean up THAT thread but it will definitely make it harder for everyone else. Especially people looking for tournies to play in. Is this possible?

You really need to read the earlier posts sir.

haha so sorry about that. I did skim the entire thread and was like damn no one’s asked for this yet. Now after I posted I see there was a post similar. I know you say its all about getting out of towners and having it in one place gets the most exposure, but does anyone really go from one region to the other unless its a major tournament? Region are already pretty big as is and find it very unrealistic someone from west coast would comes to a local on the east. Even maybe just making 3 or 4 sections like (west, east, central, majors) would really organize it a lot more. I don’t think any promoters would argue about exposure with this method since it still covers a really large area and its only 4 sections.

Another handy thing to organize up the section could be to make a standard for the topic. For example

[name of event] [State] [prizes][games]
Annoying kid Trny, New York, $1K+ (SF4,kof,bb,etc)

This way us users could just search for “New York” if we’re looking for a particular event there because the NY, CA, TN abreviations = worthless in forum search when I’ve tried to look for a particular event in the abyss hehe.

Trust the site admin’s guys, they know what they are doing!

VALLE!!!

Good luck at SBO buddy and remember the power of Peruvians!

I noticed a lot of tournaments were stickied again. With these new rules in effect, why were these stickied?:

Aerial Rave Ranbat 1.4 - St. Louis MO - August 22, 2009

Naptown: Crossroad of Fists ***Indianapolis, IN Aug.29th 2009

CVC’s Street Fighter IV 2vs2 - SAN DIEGO, CA - 08/23/09: PRE-WEST COAST WARZONE HYPE!

Northwest Majors '09 - Landmark Convention Center (Tacoma, WA)- Saturday, August 22nd

Something clever I missed? “Major” in the title?

I’m not trying to be a dick, but these new rules may affect scenes like ours, in which basically we’ll no longer get a sticky due to not having the resources for pot bonuses and the like. It seems a few tournaments are pushed to the forefront (for whatever reason; maybe I missed something) when it doesn’t look like they’re in line with the “rules,” yet our most recent tournament thread has more posts/views than those above (other than Naptown). I didn’t notice anything overtly clever/unique or any sort of pot bonuses, and one of them is a ranbat.

I’m down for pushing the smaller events to top with the others (like ours, these), but if tournaments are going to be randomly stickied (random in the sense that I don’t understand why based on the guidelines), why not just go back to the one-week sticky for smaller events? This isn’t really that big of an issue, but when considering some of us rolled with the other rules as opposed to spamming the past thread asking for stickies, shit doesn’t look right at the moment. Maybe I’m missing something.

Yeah, I found the fact that that ranbat was stickied a little odd myself, especially when there’s a much larger midwest event going on the very next week.

I agree on the thread standard, as people have mentioned. I noticed that for about a month everyone fell into a groove of doing [Date] - Venue - Area - Games. Just going with [Date] is awesome because you can very easily see when it is, obviously. Other forums have scripts that allow you to literally set up an event posting so everything is uniform and easily searchable through different filters.

CVC’s 2v2 San Diego Prize was pot+free entry to WC Warzone + MadCatz SE sticks
Northwest Majors had over 100 people for SF4
Naptown has potential increase in their area for attendees.
Aerial Rave Ranbat - didn’t know this was stickied tbh

Hey Guys. I know you guys might not care about Canada or the Toronto players…

But on June 20th we had NINETY TWO (92) PLayers…for a LOCAL Tournament.

Labour day weekend is a long weekend both sides of the border. I’d really like to see some Americans make it out to this same event.

I think one of the Criteria for a sticky is that it get 100 players.

I would love it if you guys could sticky this thread so other people can see it.

Us same players were on the front of the SRK page after our April SFIV Singles which drew 54 PLAYERS in a tight space, including 6+ from Buffalo.

Please and Thank You

Thank you so much for the sticky last month. I put up about 300 dollars of my own money to promote it. Even though it is smaller than most events it was one of the biggest turnouts I’ve seen at a tournament in my area.

Hey Javi,
Please have this event stickied up because this will be the 1st event in NYC to have a Tekken 6 Tourney and we will be giving away a PS3 and a copy of Tekken 6.
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=210882

taken from the thread:
*If over 50 players entry the Tekken 6 tournament then a PS3 and a PS3 copy of Tekken 6 will be added to the 1st place prize.

That does not qualify for a sticky-
If the prize(console + game) was gauranteed, then so be it.

glad you mentioned this cause im actually throwing another tourney the same way but with more prizes and with a twist. its online only and its only for the north east.

2 plane tickets round trip to final round 13
1 new dell latitude d630 laptop

  • pot prizes

so that passes for over a grand right?

happens on jan 9 2010 a one day event

Yes that qualifies good sir

ok so what do i have to do? can you sticky it?

2 month rule

So in Nov.9th remind me =)

Our event is in less than 2 weeks and has not been stickied.

There is going to be a good turnout, our event is in the midwest, collectively there will be 1000 dollars or more walking in and out of the doors.

on a side note in refference to this thread and others.
This trend of srk changing its viewpoints and rules to fit its own agenda within the past 6 months or so is disgusting and very disrespectful to the fighting game community.

hey javi, can i get my tournament stickied? it’s considered one of the majors in atl. not as big as final round but getting there. Impact Clash V is the tournament and it’s about a month away
here’s the link for it: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=188625

there should be an option when starting a New Thread in this section to automatically pick the date in the calendar with a link to the thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/calendar.php

can u pls sticky? its in the 2 month window

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=208905
