We are now changing the rules on what events and tournaments qualify for a sticky. In addition, Calipower is now modding this forum and make sure the riff raff stays out.
For the purpose of clarification, an Event is a group of tournaments at the same location, a Tournament is a single tournament by itself or within an Event.
Q: Why have the rules changed?
A: Due to the resurgence of the tournament scene on SRK and the sheer amount of stickies that exist from week to week, there has been a growing need to change the way the Tournaments & Events forum handles stickies.
Q: So now what qualifies for a sticky?
A: There are three types of events that we will consider for a sticky. Majors, events that have more than $1000 in cash prizes in a single tournament, and unique tournaments/events.
Q: What the hell is a unique tournament/event?
A: The way we qualify unique tournaments/events is a tournament/event that has an extra incentive. Incentives include non-monetary prizes such as televisions, game systems, plane tickets, etc. These incentives would be heaped on top of the total cash prize.
Q: Who determines what the major tournaments are?
A: All Evo events are considered majors. Part of the criteria include, but are not limited to, are the seniority of the Event (events with the most years behind it), the area in which the Event is located and date. Any other tournaments under consideration will be decided by myself and Calipower and if needed, the rest of SRK staff.
Q: I have an Event that will pay out over $1k in total prizes. Will my tournament be under consideration for a sticky?
A: Not necessarily. Keep in mind that a single tournament (e.g. the SF4 tournament) needs to dish out $1000 in total prizes in order to be stickied.
Q: I have an Event that has a lot of people. But I can’t guarantee that $1000 will be paid out!
A: Send a PM to Calipower or myself stating your case.
Q: I have an Event that will include goodies like an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3 as part of the prizes. Will my Event get a sticky?
A: We will suggest sending a PM to Calipower or myself stating your incentives and we will decide.
Q: With these new rules, my small tournament no longer gets exposure!
A: That’s not necessarily true. When you make a post advertising your event, you are exposing it to everyone who is interested in an Event. It is ultimately up to the tournament organizers to plan such an Event so people will clamor for more. We want the scene to grow more than anyone (because in the end it helps EVO numbers :lovin:) so we want to encourage Event Organizers to be a bit creative in order to bring people to tournaments.
Q: What are the sticky times?
A: Major - 2 months. Rest is TBD.
