I bought three silent kits from PAS to install into existing JLFs, and I really didn’t like them (even with larger actuators and heavier springs). I gave one to my friend and he loves it. Still have to post the other two up for sale here one day. Might find it hard to part with the blue gates though…

I also tried a Gamerfinger optical kit and gave it the boot. I think it’s a design fork based on the Spark, but non adjustable. It was very nice indeed, but just not my thing.

I get the whole silent thing for tourney play and night sessions at home (I’ve got a 15 month old who’s a light sleeper) but there’s just something about the tacticle and auditory cues presented while actuating standard microswitches on joysticks that I crave. It sets a rhythm in my play style that I can’t replicate with an optical sensor or super-quiet reed switches.

Now silencing buttons is something that I can get behind. I highly recommend Little Kahuna pads from PAS for Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons. Great stuff.

I actually own this JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK stick with a 2lb spring and Phreakmods Quick-link which I prefer compared to the stock Sanwa on my TES+. It just feels tighter. It all comes down to personal preference, so it is what it is. Yea the blue gate seems to be the novelty part of the whole stick :). I was curious how the PAS and the optical switch feels like. I also have a set of the silent 30mm buttons that were just replaced for modded Sanwa clear buttons with the foam pads. I agree they make a big difference. Didn’t know about the Little Kahuna pads, i’m assuming they are similar to the foam pads that Focus Attack sells that are on my modded clears.
