Paradise Arcade does recommend an Actuator replacement and maybe a spring swap.
But otherwise its the exact same switches as the official silent JLF.
are there any differences in the gate itself? besides being one solid mold, does it have noticable differences in gate size?
Has the actuator been compared the the older silent or normal JLF?
@hibachifinal don’t have access to precision measurement tools but the gate size appears to be identical to the regular JLF gate.
Edit: I just used a measuring tape though so grain of salt plz.
its all good, if you can’t eyeball any difference then its probably the same.
looks cooler as a transluscent blue though, might look super nice with clear blue dust/shaft covers and balltop ;v
This is really interesting. I just checked the JLF in my Mad Catz Silent Edition V.S. and it has the regular 5 pin connector. Was this perhaps the prototype leading up to this model? Hmmmm…
I’d go the Paradise Arcade Zippy mod with a Kowal actuator. You’re looking at around $20 to upgrade to a almost silent stick.
anybody know if a Kowal actuator and a PAS 2 lb jlf spring will work on this?
Has the actuator been compared the the older silent or normal JLF?
With the official silents, no.
What was tested with the standalone D2RV-G switches that the stock JLF actuator is slightly undersized and a 0.5 oversize actuator is recommended.
With the new Silent JLF, they have micro switched model number D2RV-G-SD2 which appears to be a custom version. This was determined by reading the D2RV Datasheet
Searching Mouser all they got was the standard D2RV-G, other versions like the D2RV-L11 (levered version) are not stocked.
Anyways forget the JLF,
I want this
A silent JLW with an Aluminum gate.
How does this compete with a Hayabusa? I like the one in my Fighting Edge but it’s getting a little loose and the new JLF is twice the price of a replacement Hayabusa.
Put the silent in a FE and played for 2 hours… It’s really, really soft. I takes almost 0 effort to activate a direction. There’s also very little tactile feedback but it doesn’t seem to affect my normal special inputs. I’m, however, struggling with fast motions involving neutrals like 35236523 (mist step cancel to EWGF). The silent feels like it springs back even slower than regular JLF so had to be more careful.
I like the smooth feel of the stick though. Barely feels like I’m playing on square gate. Gonna keep using it for a bit and maybe put one of my PAS 1.5 or 2lb springs in it.

If Fighting Edge is too loose for you, JLF (silent or regular) will not solve that problem. JLF and Hstick are very, very similar in feel and use. I’d suggest putting a stronger spring (like I mentioned above) from Paradise Arcade Shop in the Hayabusa because it’s the better stick IMHO.
The new switch model numbers is probably just for the PCB terminals soldered into a single assembly. The older silent JLF was .187 terminals right? So you needed a .187 harness, correct? If so than that’s the only difference.
How does it compare to a Hayabusa? Probably an unnoticeable amount of extra pivot action, .5 mm less throw, maybe less tension on the switches, but other than that, not much a difference other than being silent. The new gate is simply a single piece. Nothing special about it.

I don’t own this new model but the previous one worked with these no problem. This is actually my current setup
Thanks. @TRIFELIFESURVIVES
It doesn’t look like the stick went through drastic changes other than the pcb on it. I dunno if I should wait for the pcb to be sold at FA / PAS or just order from Arcade Shock. Hmmmm!
Do you want a silent JLF right now? Then just get the .187 switch kit from PAS. Otherwise, wait and buy the stick new, there aren’t going to be a lot of silent PCB’s to be sold, tis a brand new stick after all.
@Moonchilde I’ve actually got that silent JLF kit being shipped to me right now from PAS. =]
Cool I really hope you enjoy it! I hope you got some springs for it, too. The JLF feels nice with a 2 lb or 2.5 lb spring.
I have to agree with @Moonchilde . I don’t use anything lower than 2lb on any jlf
3 lb would probably feel good, too. I just got done testing out a 4 lb and it was definitely playable. Take off the gate and you kinda get that old HAPP feel. Kind of.
