I just tried Real Bout 2 yesterday fast with someone in america and it played flawlessy, and I was looking forward to run the same test with 3S.
It works quite well, played with a guy and eventhough we pinged over 200, the input delay seemed pretty reasonable (I had more last time I tried to play overseas [I’m in france]).
I just noticed I don’t have the port forwarding warning anymore, so your fix must be working.
The only thing was that when the host left, it took me a while to gain back control over my cpu, I was still considered "fighting"eventhough in the room, but it settled by itself with some patience.
Thanks for the work Damdai !
Does anyone aside me think that warzard may be a nice adition… it never got any netplay and I don’t know what to think of it except its nice…
In my case, a window appeared asking me if i wanted to unlock 2DFF connection to internet (or somehting close to that). I answer to unlock but it didn’t solve problem: i had to manually create a rule in XP firewall about the UDP 27886…
How long were you stuck in “Fighting” status before it returned to “Available”?
I’ll check out warzard tonite.
The window that appears asking if you want to allow 2DF is for the client’s outgoing connection to the FreePlay server. The rule you had to create in the XP firewall is for incoming connections to the emulator. Other people who have forwarded port 27886 in their router but still can’t challenge may have to do the same thing.
I have to say that I’m impressed with this. People are saying it is like Kai P2P, but it is definitely better. I just played RBFF2 with a guy in the UK (I’m in USA) with little lag. A quick skip happened a few times, but that was it. I would have considered it playable with someone in the US, but for overseas…it was amazing.
a good solid minute, I think.
tried again, overseas again, (canada this time) and it was very playable, the exit bug didnt happen, and the only thing noticeable was a slight lag input, but with such a distance it’s amazing.
ha yep, but the thing is, at first the chat window reappeared with wy desktop on the back, but the icons on it had not loaded yet, so I thought I was exiting fine, so I tried to click something like chat maybe, and then realized it was more or less frozen in a load state, I tried to move the window, got it moving a bit with 10-15 secs delay, then tried to hit the cross upright to close the mess, and then noticed the “Force Quit Emulator” button, so I clicked it, and still got no response from anything, just my cpu obviously flooded with info, so, I decided to wait a bit, and the window showed my status as “available” again and everything was back where it was (icons on the desktop, etc).
I don’t know if you should spend time investigating that bug, unless others report it, maybe the problem came from my cpu or something… it was the second time I ran this server and anyway, a bit of patience just settled things back.
Was really sleepy when I posted before. I typo-ed the port I was spending all night trying to forward.
But I got the correct port forwarded through the router firewall and finally got 2DF launched.
I was worried I’d be stuck in the “1 usage of each socket” error loop infinitely.
Thanks for the work. I’m finally getting play in the Real Bouts after a few years of only Vs. CPU play.

CPS3 games don’t use the same net algorithm as other games, so there will be a delay unless you have a good ping to your opponent (< 50). I’ll work on trying to improve this.
Anyway, I have one little nitpick with how the client detects roms - for games that take their roms from more than one romset, it demands the romsets be in separate zips. I like to keep my roms merged when possible so this is a little annoying.
Like for instance, Super Turbo uses roms from ssf2.zip and ssf2t.zip. I have everything in ssf2.zip and emulators have no problem reading it this way, but the client won’t let me enter the room unless both ssf2.zip and ssf2t.zip are present in the directory.
