Yeah but what kind of longevity would a game have if everyone used the same moves or same char? Balance is very important but you need some kind of variety as well. I mean dont get me wrong I would prolly play a game like this just to try it out though so if a developer does it well they will get my monies.
The game isn’t Marvel, so you can afford to make a mistake or 2. You’ll have to play in a manner that allows you to get a read on your opponent. If command grabs and DPs are strong then more then likely they will be common. If you take the time to learn how to deal with everything then you’ll just have to figure out what your opponent has. Even if you don’t know all of your opponent’s moves, so what? He more than likely doesn’t know yours either. So use that to your advantage. It’s like 2 people playing with new characters for the 1st time.
Isn’t this what high lvl play boils down to anyway? Everyone eventually starts using the same stuff whether it’s some sort of tactic or a particular character. Balance, variety, and longevity? Marvel 2? 10yrs??? I’m beginning to wonder what it is you( and everyone else ) really wants in a fighting game. No offence. If the game is really “balanced” then it would mean that everyone is similar because otherwise, true “balance” cannot exist. As long as you have variety there will always be good matchups and bad matchups. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Tekken 6 are 2 of the most proclaimed “balanced” fighting games to ever exist but both of those games have VERY relevant tier list. Meaning some matchups are virtually impossible on paper.
However, due to the game’s system it is very possible to win even the worst matchups. Although it may be extremely hard, at the end of the day it IS possible to win. You just got to play your cards right. No matter how few you may have. lol
Point values was my first thought too, or, limit the combination of certain moves or aspects. Each move could have a disclaimer in its description, like “Cannot be set if a dp is present.”
I didn’t say it was a perfect idea, and matchup knowledge would be an issue. The pre-match screen could detail the characters’ attributes and moveset. With this in mind, you could get a general idea of your opponent’s gameplan (keepaway with projectiles, hard-hitter, grappler, fast rushdown, etc.).
Answered above. It would be unlike any other fighter, and since people hate change, it would have to be done near-perfectly to draw in the crowd.
3S and MvC2 would like a word. lol
In this sense, if the game was well-balanced, it would also bolster variety as well.
lol, nice… I was going to get Soundgarden’s last compilation album version that came with a Vinyl… but it would have just collected dust for the same reason.
My bad, should have been more specific.
As for SFxT I’m more interested in the online co-op. Not really sure how gem mode will play out but the more ways i can play a fighting game the better.
Just had the weirdest thing happen to me in Dark Souls, I killed a Black Knight on top of this tower and was going to take a pot shot at the dragon, but the dragon wasn’t there, I went around thinking “Hey, dragon is gone, I can get the bonfire under him for free”. The bonfire was there, but I couldn’t light it, so I went onward. parts of the level weren’t loading, like, the floor was missing but I could still walk on it. So I kept going and it got ridiculous, I fell through the level geometry into an area I wasn’t supposed to be in yet, killed some enemy that wouldn’t fight back, and then couldn’t get out of where I was. Had to dashboard it, anyone else experience any problems like this?
Gem mode is not meant for competitive play and Ono has said it’s meant to play around with, not bet money on
No offense taken at all. To me the goal should be to get balance/diversity rolled into one package. Easy definitely not but that should be what developers strive to make and what players want and are willing to pay for. And there is no reason to think they cannot do better on this then they have. Super SFIV was pretty close to this IMO balance was good, diversity was pretty good and it was fun (subjective I know). However it could could have been improved upon but instead of doing that they threw balance out the window it seems and got AE but we dont need to get into that.
Also I am fine with “hard matchups” 5.5-4.5, 6-4, 6.5-3.5 (barely) but anything worse than that should be not acceptable. 7/3, 8/2, 9/1 is crazy. Because your getting to the point where your char doesnt win its up to the other player to just loose.
Marvel 2 lasting 10 years has much more to do with the fact that it was pre internet/youtube days. Had Marvel 2 come out this year it would have been figured out in 2 years tops. There is no way around this as now too many people are searching for the high level stuff and sharing info much more quickly that they were in 2000. Thats not taking anything away from it no game is gonna last 10 years again times have changed. Its still one of the most fun games to watch being played.
It probably sounds like I hate current gen fighters or something and thats not it. I like SFIV overall, I like Tekken 6. I really wanted to like Marvel 3 but it just didn’t work for me. I will try again in UmvC though and see how it goes. I really like Iron Fist so lets hope he is decent lol.
You must have been playing the Battlefield 3 Beta.
Lmao.
Also, someone get at Sev’s Gambino Ticket. It’s a free ticket to a show that’s sure to be amazing.
Avatar Fighter Online lets you do just that.
You pick 2 special moves and a super move from a list of like 30 moves. All the special move input commands are Street Fighter style charge ups, quarter circles, half circles, dragon punches, dive kicks, etc.
There are like 8 or 9 stances to pick for your fighter, all of which give you different normal attacks.
I believe Mortal Kombat: Armageddon also had a setup like this.

Ah yes, the ranting ghetto man. He will change the world. If only people up top would listen to this stuff, but real talk, those idiots would see he was black and say “nope.”
He does have some good points.
Much less gimmicky and more in-depth though.
This just reminds me of Flymike’s famous “just put the ball in the hole” rant.
Does he not remind you dudes of Flymike? I swear Flymike is like the video game version of this dude! lol But yea, I’ve been on Felonious for awhile. He comes off as ghetto and aggressive but you can tell the dude is highly intelligent and has very valid points on the things he discusses.
Thank you. Granted if you lived up here I bet you would be on this in a second
EA is a greedy ass mother fucker man.
I can understand suing them over the logo, that makes sense… But demanding ALL profits from “damages” that for a company like EA would be negligible? Fuck yo sheetz man.
You bitches suck with no takers on this ticket. I hope I get taken back stage and shit so I can gloat to you fuckers.
Nobody wants to see his garbage ass skippin’ and twirlin’ on stage.
I thought ya’ll were from the South?

Yellllllaaaaaa
Hot damn, Miss Fortune looks awesome… shame I lack the execution to play characters like her, but I love her design and moveset. Can’t wait to try her out next week!
Also, if you haven’t had a chance to see Skullgirls running at 60fps yet, this is a good chance to do so. The game looks SO damn pretty…
