I think they overlay those images over 3-D models, and go from there. Because the models in the trailer are definitely the drawings.

The guy with the question marks above his head is Thanos.Look at the shape of his head and he’s also holding up the infinity gauntlet.
Don’t be dumb people. There were only 16 characters shown today, and the ??? guy is the same as the flame headed guy in the poster, but the image has been edited so you can’t see it. Now this means that the ??? person has to be a Marvel character and not a Capcom one, and this is strengthened by the fact that he was actually shown in the initial trailer with his hand raised just like in that picture there. Now given how he is actually the flameheaded guy, I’m going to say that it isn’t Thanos, and instead say its Dormammu.
As you can see, that one particular shadow almost has to be Dormammu, and given how that person with their hand raised should be the same character, its Dormammu as well.
