There’s still plenty chance the game will suck, especially since Boon’s understanding of “depth” seems to amount to “combos!”

Sheeva was introduced to make Goro fans happy. No way are they going to make the same mistake twice. If he stays dead then replace him with Kintaro.

She came in after Mk3 which is why I count her as new. Her relationship to Jade and Kitana makes the overall story more interesting.
Cyrax (non cyborg)
Unlikely in my mind but it feels like rehashing all the cyborgs isn’t neccessary.
Sub Zero (Cyborg)
Ultimate mind screw by Ed Boon. This change would make the Lin Kuei storyline a little more interesting and refreshing. This is mostly why I think Smoke should be cut.
Motaro
Unlikely but I think he might become available as the downloadable character.

Please, after 10 years of getting nothing from MK I’m entitled to poke fun at them. I know the game looks tight.

I hope the boss characters like Goro, Kintaro, Motaro, and Shao Kahn aren’t playable. Have them remain big dudes who piss you off in the 1-player modes. Nothing more.

Well perhaps if they played more like actual characters and less like the Incredible Hulk. I mean Shao Kahn is a mystical and uber warlord, why not actually explore him as a real fighter rather than keep representing him as “HULK SMASH!” Raiden is an elder god and so was Shinnok, but that didn’t prevent them from actually playing like actual characters. They could keep the angry monster mentality for the sub-bosses but that would be a waste of programming efforts, when even a sub-boss like Goro could be remade like an actual character and still be menacing.

That’s what characters like Sheeva are for. To get your 4-armed glory while keeping the boss characters Hulk Smashers. If I play 1-player modes, I want it to remain different and unique than two player modes. Boss characters do that. Over the top guys with size and power advantages. I want Shao Kahn to be 3 feet taller than everyone else and cheap. Not a regular character. Same for the other sub-bosses. Maybe that’s just me.

No playable bosses. ever.

If the boss characters were ever playable, the playable versions should be the absolutely lowest in terms of tiers, just to fuck with people.

They really need to fix reptiles invisibility, cos it’s looking worthless. The start-up for the “EX” forceball is looks hella slow, but if it turns out to work well then so be it.

Edit: I made a comment about what looked like maximum damage but nevermind, I didn’t catch where the guy said you could potentially get like 70% damage combos from x-ray attacks.

Make Goro a playable grappler.

Had some fun casuals tonight with 9.95 AC1984 and DarkRob at my house streaming from the laptop. Had 23 people watching according to DreemerNJ at one point. Good stuff for a random gathering and no warning. Next we’ll try to give people a head’s up.

As for Rep’s MK9 invis, instead of being “cool” or “stylish” and programming it to work like Predator, they should have made it like Shang’s morphs in the 2D games and given him a good 10 or 12 seconds fully invis before being forced back. That’s balance, that’s logic. Don’t make the move useless, like this dev apparently is. Maybe they wanted to make the moves like them. Rep’s forecballs look terrible too. Maybe the super FB is good. Who knows. Gross.

i had the stream on in the bg catching some stuff, good shit.

also i wouldnt jump to conclusions yet about that kind of stuff. his forceballs do look slow, but this game also doesnt have run and its widescreen so you can get way further apart. a similar thing happened with past sf’s to sf4. certain fireball patterns in old games where you’d jump over one and be in range where you could take two more steps and attack turned into situations where you still wouldnt be anywhere close to the opponent. widescreen alone helps zoning and shit
