Hmm, apparently it’s being done by a new team (NetherRealm Studios) but with Boon’s guiding hand. Deep story and co-op modes confirmed. Do hope that these don’t take away development time from the gameplay (and that Boon digs deep and pulls from the best of the past games, and doesn’t go all gimmicky like he has as of late).

So we have SF4, and now 2D MK…could this be the 90s all over again?

Looks like MK is following SF4’s lead. Hopefully it will be as disturbing and fantastic as the first 2 games were.

P.S. All of the 3d MK games were terrible.

It’s looking like it’s 2D, which by default means it will be better than the last 5 MK games. Gameplay looks decent, looks like there will be a 2v2 mode. And possibly the impale feature is back?

Looks like MK is following SF’s lead and getting back to its roots. Unlike SF, MK hasn’t had a good game since it’s second installment, so I am glad they are basically just starting with that engine from the looks of this trailer. I’m down…but cautious. Hopefully this game is as disturbing as MK1 and as fantastic as MK2.

MK was the game that truly drew me into the fighting game scene back in the early 90’s, so on one level I’m hyped about this. On another level, I have no faith in any modern MK having accessible gameplay. The last few games have been beyond unplayable, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s got decent gameplay, but not hopeful…

However, if it plays like the old MK games with good juggles and responsive controls mixed with great fatalities (I know, superficial shit), I’m hyped for it.

Reptile in MK9 = auto-buy for me. That’s all it took.

So far, from what they show, the game looks sick. And 2D. I’m surprised at this.

Of all the fighting games that are critically bad that I’ve wanted to be good…it’s definitely Mortal Kombat.

So far, it looks…decent. I won’t hold my breath, as MK’s disappointed me before. However, this has promise. Great promise.

P.S: Those punks had better put Baraka in. My favorite MK character by FAR. I mean…Mileena is in it, so how could Baraka NOT be in?!
