New mortal kombat is coming

This is 100% false. It was Ed’s decision to follow Soul Caliber and Tekken and trying to make MK in that vein, which brought MK down to the ground. Him choosing gore and gimmicks over great gameplay and substance has damn near killed the franchise.

He, as in Ed himself said he wasnt interesting in making a fighter that could be taken seriously.

You really should do a little more research before you start spouting out that shit you just did…twice.

I hope they call this new game Mortal Kombat 5. Since there hasn’t been a numbered MK game since MK4, and this is the first proper 2D MK game since UMK3 and thus a return to order of sorts for the series, I think it’s appropriate to use the MK5 title. Even if there’s no continuity with Mortal Kombat 4, I think gamers would respond well to it having that name.

I don’t think this should be given a number. I see it more as a reinvigoration of the whole series rather than another step in the evolution (or deevolution) of the series. MK 4 broke away from standard 2d fighting the same as MK3 included a run function. The only difference is MK4 didn’t improve anything. It just appealed to the kids of the generation who only thought 3D games were good (big joke).

It should just be called “Mortal Kombat” and be left at that. It’s not like anybody will think you’re talking about the first Mortal Kombat opposed to the new Mortal Kombat.

And sidenote: Just because the SF community has some stupid players, doesn’t mean SF is a bad game. Both franchises have skeletons in the closet.
