they matter to a point but why go for a flashy combo when i can do sj.lk sj.lk xx LA xx LS and into HSF over doing a fifteen hitter air combo into LA xx LS with crap scaled damage thats roughly the same as the first combo which is twenty one or so hits before scaling? im not a flashy player i just use what i can work with.
i think that one could be debated couldnt it row? ive seen cables utterly rape runaway storms but on the flip ive seen cables fall to storms rush tactics. ive also seen storm beat cable with runaway by staying high in the screen to build meter or dash in, bait, dash out and call commando and cable eats assist and hailstorm. also her staying in the and doing vertical typhoon into LS. but like i said ive seen both but rushing storm had a more favorable matchup compared to runaway storm. im always up to hear bout it though.:lovin:

LS XX HSF ignores scaling, lol. Nah not really, but yeah even a lengthy air combo into HSF will still do really nice damage. I go for the basic stuff too, though.
Like I said, Storm controls that match. She has an answer for just about anything. It’s pretty much up to the Storm to fuck it up if she’s running away. Storm doesn’t even have to rush Cable down since all she’ll probably need to kill him is that one sj. short and then DHC to Sent if he’s on the team. I guess the same can be said if Cable gets low enough to connect multiple AHVBs.
I’ve seen Cables like Smooth Viper’s who can correctly predict when to AHVB to hit a tri-jumping Storm, so those tactics have counters as well. I didn’t say rushing Storm was inferior to runaway Storm in my previous post, but I do agree that rushing Storm can destroy Cable.
If the Storm is patient and can block well, Cable can’t do a whole lot. Can she be beat? Sure, but I’m just saying it’s not in Cable’s favor to win. That’s one reason why some people don’t even consider Cable to be top 4 and would rather use IM or something, because forcing mistakes when using Cable is pretty difficult at times.
Watching a Storm like Yipes’ is just scary and I think seeing someone take Storm to that level is what made me think that Storm is really that damn good.
I don’t think runaway Storm rapes Cable all the time but I do think she beats him. There’s many different circumstances (such as who has the lead and stuff), but generally I think runaway Storm beats Cable. I’ve seen so many matches where Storm was just floating around in la la land and she got her sj. short to hit, connected everything, GGPO Cable.
yeah thats what i meant by combos. but yeah i guess i should have said that too. like if cable starts off controlling her air space then its much harder for her runaway game, but it is storm so while cable is busy spamming crap storm has a whole lot of space beneath cable to close in on. i threw in runaway and rush storms just as a comparison since shes versatile like that can really switch whenever she wants. when i think of cable i figure he has to get the advantage first to win. not a fact, but thats how i look at it. i see he has much harder times, like your example, dealing if he cant reach them to pin them down. sent is a big target so i figure its hella hard for him to just wavedash over to cable while he is in the air spamming as compared to storm or magz. of course im talking solo character right now.
Well, I still like playing Cable. He’s fun to play and he’s got some neat combos with certain assists. A flashy Cable is pretty fun to watch because sometimes they show what he’s really capable of.
yeah but i guess thats the thing about it though. how probable is it to land a flashy combo in a match successfully? like cables one hundred percent kill on assist without using AHVB. yeah he can do it and it looks tight as fuck but how often will you actually pull that off in a match with the chance of messing up as compared to AHVB to death. sure it waste meter on the assist when you could rather guard break but its a sure fire kill.
It’s not that hard to be flashy in a match with Cable unless your definition of flashy is just absurd. People do it, it’s not as hard as you make it out to be.
well do you consider flash with him? j.hk, land and dash in, c.lp, c.lp, s.hk xx AHVB? guard break? sentinel infinite? trap with storm on y assist? i havent seen anything flashy with cable yet unless you know stuff about it i dont know.
well seeing as im not much of a cable player i didnt look at it like so but after i picked up playing him a little i was blown back. but i watch a lot of combo videos too so yeah flashy is steep for me lol.
