Prett much this. MB has remained at very low level sprite resolution for years, and French Bread / Ecole admitted themselves that the graphics is ‘outdated’. In the end, it’s in Ecole’s domain if they want to make a HD Melty Blood - but nobody really knows if they would be capable of doing that other than Ecole themselves.

I presume French Bread just wanted to make a fresh start with Under Night / In-Birth.

Crazy coincidence. Ka and I just started getting our asses back into shape ([media=youtube]89aKFrTtAxA[/media]) I’ll def be making it a priority to make it there. I’ll provide a PS2 and my Melty Disc like I did before, if that’s okay. I’m going to aim for 1st place this time!

I think I’ll stick to C-Ries the whole time this tourney. The match against Whiskey’s Wara was annoying though because he sorta took away my poking and range. I felt Red Arc was a crutch.

Unless my eyes have completely failed me in my old age, Dark Awake/Chaos Breaker runs in 320x240, the same resolution as Melty’s sprites. Seems to me that Sony doesn’t have a problem with low-res as long as there’s a filter option – and as long as it’s a downloadable title.

So what it won’t come out smooth when stretched ?_? Not being offensive or rude here, but I’m just asking.
Also, What’s the res. on Arcana Heart 3?

Wouldn’t an HD version require them to redraw everything though?
Mind you KoF 94 and some other early 90s Neo Geo games were released to PSN, am I to assume that those would have the same res as Melty Blood?

Never seen Chaos Breaker in person. So actually I have no idea. The sprites look either higher res or they’re bigger in scale to me.

And no pixelated games don’t come out smooth when you stretch them. In fact they tend to look ugly as sin because they’re designed to look good at their resolution. So most games that do this use filters that try keep the sprites in their full blocky glory.

Arcana is roughly about the same size as GG sprites. But like both games have clean lines and artwork that look pretty decent when stretched with your average image filter.

That’s pretty much what I was getting at. They would need to redraw the sprites in much higher resolution than they are now, and if French Bread and Ecole (since taking over the IP several years back) never took the initiative to do that up to now, it’s most likely that they will just keep running MB the way it is.

MB looks very blocky in upscaled resolution, way more so than older games like 3S and CVS2 so I don’t think buffer rendering would help much. A MB game in HD would pretty much require almost everything to be made from scratch, which brought up my question: Will Ecole be capable of making a game in HD graphics on its own?

Ecole never had much credibility when it came to programming, and has never made any games in HD or any titles for current generation consoles. I think the technical challenges are the biggest hurdles for them than anything.

melty is theorically 240, but the sprites are a little tiny compared to ther games at the same res, plus the art is not that sharp so that makes the game more blocky on bigger screens, but it doesnt look that bad at 480p
im not sure about chaos breaker, they seem to be a little bigger than 240, i know that the game runs on a weird screen ratio

i dont understand why this game does not have a next gen release yet

DESPERATELY NEED HELP HERE!

uh, i’m desperately in need of help here from you guys that have mastered the air combos in this game.

ok, so i know that some characters are harder to pull off airiel combos than others, and some are really easy to pull of air combos with, like Sion half moon for example.

but, what what i want to know is this:

is it impossible to commit a complete 7 hit airiel combo for some character due to the moon you’ve picked for them? does a particular moon make it impossible for them to string one together, without having to resort to reverse beating the air combo???

for example:
using Sion Tatari(HALF MOON),
its simply 3C>JC>A>B>C>JC>A>B>C

but with Aozaki Aoko(CRESCENT MOON)
when i try to do the same A>B>C button input, C always wiffs because her C is a diagonal kick that is always below the opponent’s body. So i can’t do the second JC that follows it to continue the combo into 7hit completion.
which makes me believe that the only way to reach a complete 7 hit air combo with her and her moon is resorting to reverse beat the air combo.
am i right or totally wrong about this?

i know that the full moon forces you to HAVE to go A>B>C…
but does crescent and half moon sometimes, depending on the character assigned along with it, FORCE you to reverse beat the air combo simply because there is no way to go with the A>B>C format cause the character’s moveset doesn’t allow it?

i can do airiel combos just fine in GG and MvC2…but this game’s air combos really confound the hell out of me.

someone who’s mastered the game and their air combos, help me out here, cuz i’m stumped.

does every moon allow you to go (launcher)>JC>A>B>C>JC>A>B>C
OR
do some character’s crescent or half moons FORCE you to reverse beat a long string air combo because its impossible to do a A>B>C air combo with a particular combination of character and moon?

I misread. Yeah, what Effenhoog said. Aoko has an extra jump and and extra dash for movement and combos. You need them since she doesn’t do a lot of damage, especially in the PS2 version.

Since C-Aoko has a triple jump try doing something like j.B j.C JC j.A j.B j.C JC j.A j.B j.C airthrow

did not know she had a 3rd jump/dash.

for a second, i thought that the combo might be 3C>A>A>B>C>JC>A>B>C…cuz doing two straight A’s causes Aoko to “catch up” with the opponent and her C finally is able to land…
but i think doing 2 A’s in a row pushes the opponent too far away to catch them with an attack after the second jump cancel…
but your air combo makes more sense + its 1000x more functional.

3c 5aab>aerial has a reverse beat and then bad scaling for putting extra 5as in your combo.

Even if you could land it 100% of the time, the damage would be lower, so you should not practice learn or think about it.

Gatling with other normals into 2c5c before you tack on 3c and the aircombo, or perhaps just omit the 3c altogether and do your aircombo after 2c5c.

running around trying to tag people with 3c->aircombo is just going to get you hit in the face

Ciel is far from OP :/. And besides. They’re just keeping up with using the same character and varying them up. I soon hope for a 2nd wara, kouma, aoko, ries, satsuki and whoever i missed.

could somebody please explain: what is this about a free MBAACC update this spring? i’m talking about the new title of this thread.

for the love of god please release on ps3
