wait what? how can he get up for free? usually when that scenario happens Akuma is in the corner and sagat at Mid range which makes it a good thing for Sagat since that is where he is the most dangerous for akuma. Close enough to FB where is Akuma jumps or teles at him he eats a dP/combo and otherwise is shut down because if he Shaka’s that equals free jump in->combo. Seriously I’d say Akuma v Sagat is Akuma’s favor but by soo little it doesn’t matter since there are no 2 players of equal skill so the better player overtime will win.
In that scenario you wouldn’t even need to kara anything to punish a tele.

Yea I think that is one thing that gives Akuma an edge is just the fact he gets some sick combos against Sagat that he doesn’t have against the majority of the other cast.

his tigershots will lose to goukis red fb and so one big advantage is taken from sagat

For real though, Akuma is that dude, but he takes mad skill compared to Sag/Balrog/Rufus/Ryu/etc. I put him at number 3 just because Ryu has more health and versatility with his super and ultra.

Edit: More skill or more effort? I think Akuma takes alot of Skill since he is lacking in health and you can’t fuck up. But once you have him down he takes less effort due to his amazing tools compared to say Rufus or Rog who have legitimately bad match-ups that are hard to overcome.
Especially Rufus. I could definitely argue that Rufus takes more skill and effort. He has less tools then Akuma and gets zoned to hell.
Rog and Rufus are easy mode characters. They will never take more skill to use than Akuma, even if they have bad matchups. It may be more frustrating at times to use Rufus than Akuma in his bad matchup, and in some cases you may need more effort, (don’t confuse effort and skill as being the same) but it certainly doesn’t require more skill.
Yeah, they are different.
Effort is just the amount of energy and concentration you need. The amount of will you need.
Skill is the amount of time and dedication needed to attain mastery of the character.
But damn…Rufus is easy mode? Really. Seems tough to use to me. Then again I’m looking at it from a Sagat’s perspective where Rufus has to pure his soul into the match to get the win.
Easy mode from the perspective that he can really just flow chart dudes for wins. Plus every fucking thing he does leads into ultra lol.

Akuma is probably one of the harder characters to play well consistently. Rufus along Balrog are the two easiest characters in the game to use effectively, bar none.
