NEW Hori Fighting Stick VX (360) & V3 (PS3) Thread

Picked one up recently for pretty cheap, thanks to this thread modding this stick won’t be too difficult.

Does the Hori Fighstick V3 fit a Eurojoystick2 from Industrias Lorenzo? How tall is this stick?

Thank you.

no
not enough depth to the case

How deep is the box of V3?

Thank you.

Don’t have an exact number, but you can probably do the math: If I remember correctly, if you mount a JLF at the proper height, you barely have clearance for it all, and it’s even best to grind down the inside of the casing under the JLF shaft just a little bit to avoid any issues.

and magnetic Joystick Industrias Lorenzo?

Don’t expect to put American style parts in a shell almost too shallow for sanwa

Recently got a weird (rare?) variant of this - the N3-SA - 8 button noir. I say weird I mean awesome, it’s a stock Sanwa Noir travel stick!

Possible plans -

*Brook UFB - the turbo switches and maybe the stick selector will just be for looks, but this seems like an unambigiously beneficial upgrade.

*Touchpad button. Will require a case mod. Not sure what switch to use, will be doing plenty of dry runs on some sticks I’ve lost interest in.

  • SANWA OBSF-30RG? Maybe? I have a bag of blue screw ins so I can test for height and maybe use flagged QDs. If this is the bust I think it will be I’ll go the other route and use the fancy hayabusa buttons I pulled out of my PS4 fighting edge to do a 30-RG mod on that

*Neutrik. Anyone given this a try on this case?

*For the fuck of it I miiiight see if I can fit a hayabusa in… but I might just swap the switches I have from a junked hayabusa in the JLF.

*This seems absolutely perfect for a link!

Plenty of space in this case for a ton of PCBs.

Yup. I’ve fit one in the upper left corner (assuming you’re looking at the stick as if you were playing).

Might be tight if you want it mounted at the right height.
If you want a JLF/Hayabusa mounted at the correct height, you’ll have to mount it without the mounting plate, and fit them over the internal mounting posts.

It is a great stick casing to install a Link on.

Regarding these cases - how do they disassemble? I’ve seen some of your mods on your case - looks like there’s a metal plate for the buttons but I’ve also seen the top panel with the function keys is missing? In theory could I grab a VX and hybridise it to get extra function buttons? And is there an art template I could modify?

If I remember correctly, the case is 4 parts:

  • The bottom half of the casing (plastic)
  • The top half of the casing (plastic)
  • The main control panel (metal)
  • The sub-buttons (home/start/select/switches etc) (plastic)

In theory, you could probably replace the sub-button portion with a custom one so that you can get more buttons? I guess that would work.

There’s a couple of links a little further up in this thread that were shared for the art template; one of them was from blklightning21’s template that (for some reason) I was the only one who kept a copy of.

So I think my plan is this:

  • Strip electrics with a view to archiving them

  • Grab a V3 for spares and the daughterboard

  • Daughterboard goes in the N3-SA for full start/select/home/touch/turbo

  • Retain the original USB until it breaks, but work out a velcro cable management solution

I really hope flagged QDs let me fit 30RGs in this, would be so sick

Oh interesting - modular daughterboard, innards have minimal solder! Cool stick, no idea why info in English is so hard to find

That’s… kind of interesting.
I had my original FS VX modded with custom 8-button top-panel myself; I totally forgot that they ended up doing that themselves as well.

I’ll be honest, every time this thread is bumped, I get a little sad that I sold off my super-modded FS VX years ago; but I wasn’t using it much then because I had moved onto using full customs.

I’ve no idea how rare these are but honestly I’m pretty exstatic about it! All it needs is one more button. If you look for one I hope you find it!

First stage done! Love how the semitsu neon ball top pops. I think I can fit 30rgs as long as I use flagged disconnects too. It identifies as “STICK B”

Unless the shorter throw gives me any issues I’m leaving it like this tbh - not feeling any scraping, it’s possible they revised the case for this variant. Mounting the JLF without a plate requires modification, right?

I think I sold you this, on eBay UK couple weeks ago?

I think there is a tt2 version for ps3 and Wii u but with hori parts

And a blazblue version with vlx layout

Haha! I thought the name was familiar. You always have sick sticks for sale. I’ll take good care of it

Hey, so I’m going all in on this as a travel portable. As I understand it the outer mounting holes on a JLF body have to be widened and the protruding tabs sawn off. I do have a couple of questions:

  1. What screws to use?

  2. What’s the drilling process? I have a small concern about possibly either drilling too far or drilling unevenly. One thing I thought might work is to just drill each hole all the way through and then use metal washers to height-adjust.

Pretty excited. Not sure what to do for custom art yet, might have to look into laminated stickers. I couldn’t find a valid link for the template either, are you able to kindly re-upload and I’ll work around it?
