NEW Hori Fighting Stick VX (360) & V3 (PS3) Thread

Yes. feel free to be more specific of course as to where you live.

Well I live in Iowa around two biggish city’s. I can’t really think of any electronics stores other than Gamestop and Bestbuy?

I’m trying to switch the stock stick from my Hori V3 with a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT. I just want to know, can I connect the wires from the Sanwa’s harness to the board without soldering. Can I just connect the wires from the harness and from the board strip them and use black tape to connect them together, if its possible? If it is does anyone have a diagram or instructions on how too? I have everything good to go except, I just want to avoid soldering the wires for my Sanwa joystick to the board.

what buttons should I use to add the 2 side buttons beside the stock ones? I am happy with the stock buttons but I need the 2 extra ones for full button mapping.

This question is more than a month old, so you probably solved your problem already. But for anyone with the same question: I don’t know if you can use black tape instead of soldering, but since you have to solder to change buttons anyway, just do the wire harness too.
Anyway, if my notes are correct the wires coming from the board should correspond with these wires from the wire harness(from board>wire harness):
Red>Red(down), Blue>Yellow(left), Yellow>Orange(up), White>Green(right).

Do you mean buttons that feel like the stock buttons? I heard Seimatsu buttons are quite similar.

I just realized a huge problem.

it seems there isn’t enough space beside the R1 R2 buttons to drill 2 more holes and put them there unless I cut away the board to increase the space, but it might affect the structural integrity of the case

I know the stick has 30mm buttons, but if 24mm buttons can fit there, I suppose I could do that.
also, the select start L1 L2 are soldered using ribbon cables, I cannot tell which button went to where. can you tell me what cables to solder for L1 and L2?

any one successfully added 2 more buttons beside the 6 buttons? mind showing me a picture of what you did?

Just dremel away at any plastic that’s in the way for the 2 last buttons. The case will be fine.

For the L1/L2, you’ll have to follow the wire/trace from the ribbon cable coming from the control-panel.

there is an unfinished diagram on page 2 that might tell you.

FINALLY in a state to post pictures of my Fighting Stick VX.

I’ve had this stick since March this year; was waiting for replacement panel from blklightning21.
The first one I got from him had one hole misaligned, so he got me a replacement that I only received yesterday.

Anyhow. The bulk of the work is done; just need to get some artwork printed out and buy some vinyl dye to turn the casing black.

Beat me to the punch. Nice and clean wiring man.

where did u order that Sanwa Battop Joystick?

Focus Attack or Canadian Joysticks, one of the two. Don’t remember which; I got it long ago.
Funny, of all things you pull from my post, THAT’s what you ask?..

well I didn’t have the need to compliment about how slick your wiring is cause it’s obvious lol. Thanks for the info

I can’t find the 360 version of the VX anywhere online. =/

I just checked Amazon. There’s like two left.

So save one for me.

Well, no more of these on Amazon. Can’t seem to find them anywhere else. Hori still make 'em?

Doesn’t seem like their making them considering how hard they are to get, even no their own webstore. I know of 2 for sale locally in Toronto though.

Should have bought it when you had the chance

Looks like it’s still in stock here:

Thanks for saving my birthday!

Hey, Newbie from blighty here! Modding my VX and just need to purchase the ground daisy chain and wires for splicing my JLF and OBSF 30’s to the PCB. Went to buy on Focusattack.com before seeing the 21-90 day waiting time and realised there was probably a site closer to home that had what I needed :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, found the wires on UltraCabs but they are 4.8mm which equates to .180" opposed to the .110" wires. Are these fine? Am I being a Pleb? xXx
