I had blklighting21 make me a custom 8-button panel for my FS VX, received months ago (in April).
I decided not to showcase it yet since there was an issue with the panel (still just barely useable in a nutshell), and I’m waiting for him to ship out my replacement one before I take pictures to show it off.
To answer the bunch of questions:
Yes, 8 buttons is possible, but you’ll have to dremel out part of the casing to accomodate the buttons
The ribbon cable is plenty long enough to reach the stock PCB, even with the additional buttons.
No issues on dual-modding; scroll back a couple of pages and you’ll see plenty of examples (including mine).
There are VERY few sticks with L3/R3 buttons, and the FS VX is no exception.
And while I actually only use 6 buttons when I play, I like having the additional buttons on the face for menus and whatnot. I primarily like the shape and formfactor of the FS VX casing.
I hoped someone had one. Do you know how he cuts through the panel? I don’t know what to use. Someone said forstner bits but I heard drill bits work for metal. The plastic parts pretty simple though, Also what four cables are L1/L2? The diagram on page 5 is for the SA I think. I’m planning of using on of the two pushbuttons like the Turbo in a TE for a dualmod.
I believe he gets his metal panels laser-cut, but someone correct me if I’m wrong on that. I had him replace my entire top-panel, not cut holes in the existing stock panel.
I’m not sure on the wires for L1/L2; you’ll have to follow the traces/wires/pins yourself. I haven’t played with the FS V3; I have the FS VX.
I understand a lot of people are reluctant to deal with blklightning21 at the moment: he’s been MIA very often and for long periods of time.
However, I do already own 3 panels cut by him, so I can attest to the quality of his work. Waiting a bit longer for a replacement doesn’t bother me in the least.
But thanks for the heads up.
Okay I have v3 and i have new sanwa buttons yellow 30mm i already de soldered i dont plan on doing quick disconnects, my problem is since the plugs on the buttons are bigger then the stock hori ones is there a way to make them fit in the board and also sand down and solder the buttons in since the horis are closer together and smaller
First post, and just a question on dimensions. I read through the entire thread hoping to find a side by side comparison or specific dimensions but no luck there so I thought I’d just create an account and ask you people about it since the thread appears to still be active.
Can anyone tell me the exact or somewhat exact(within 1~2cm give or take) dimensions of the VX(360) fight stick? I’ve tried going to Hori’s page on it but it gives it’s dimensions as 16.1" x 9.4" x 5.3" and a weight of approximately 2.6lbs. That doesn’t seem right since my MadCatz TE is somewhat similar if not less thick than the VX. And there doesn’t appear to be reliable dimensions any where on the world wide web, at least not that I can find.
Then what’s the depth/height of it? I appreciate the reply, but as I said, I am hoping for an exact or perhaps a side-by-side picture of it next to a MadCatz TE fight stick(preferably) or a similar “full-sized” fight stick.
I keep hearing people say it’s smaller than a “full-sized” stick, and that it’s more compact and lighter. I’m interested in it if only for that, since it translates to portability while I’m overseas, but so far all the dimensions are misleading.
I’m new to the forum. I recently purchased a Hori FS V3 that is going to be modded with a Sanwa JLF and Seimitsu PS-14-KN. All I need now is to find a store online to do the custom artwork for my joystick. Does anyone have a good recommendation on where, I can get this job done. No places in my area are confident that they can do the job. So, any information will help
