NEW Hori Fighting Stick VX (360) & V3 (PS3) Thread

If you feel that the buttons are a bit too stiff you can mod the buttons, but it is up to you.
If you like the feel of the stock buttons then forget using other buttons, don’t change buttons just because other people are doing it.

So while I wait for my harness to arrive, I saw in this thread that you only need to connect one ground wire from the Hori wires and ignore the rest. Which of those four in particular should I splice to the Sanwa harness?

also got this as my first stick, the power goes off and on if i move too much :stuck_out_tongue:
I want to mod it with some concave buttons and possibly add some custom art and also rewire the taunt button for deadpool combos. No experience with any sticks yet, so how difficult would this be for me?

I recently got that problem with the power turning on and off after dual-modding mine, I just shake the whole stick and then it turns back on.
I don’t know if my problem is the same as yours, but I would like to impart some caveman wisdom on to those in troubling times.

Ah, nevermind. I already figured out which of the ground wires was really necessary. Here’s pics of the final mod! Everything works perfectly, and despite keeping the mounting plate, I surprisingly have absolutely no grinding issues!

I’m so glad that my first mod is a success.

Where did you order your buttons and stick from?

I got them from FocusAttack.com. The new wires and QD’s I got from Radioshack, though Focus Attack does provide those, too.

Also, NOW I’m getting the grinding; I just couldn’t feel it because I didn’t screw the back on entirely. Well, now I guess I’ll remove the mounting plate and drill the gate.

So, I nabbed an SS plate for a 58 from the fine gentleman at Focus Attack, and unfortunately, it definitely does not line up with the VX case’s mounting holes, so, uh, that’s a huge bummer. (It’s also definitely different from the 32/40’s SS plate. Nice and confusing!)

As far as I can tell, my options at this point are basically:
[]Give up and live with the stock stick - It’s actually pretty good! I’m really curious about the 58+octo gate, but I could always put it in something else…
[
]Give up and put in a JLF - Ditto!
[]Put in the 58, and live with the grinding - =(
[
]Go ahead and dremel out some of the case - I am clumsy and also an idiot, so this worries me greatly.
[]Try and file a few mm off of the mounting miscellany inside the case - I worry about destroying the inside of the case, and then having no fallback when I inevitably file down everything unevenly.
[
]Something else that I haven’t thought of?
I’m thinking about just putting the 58 in, seeing how bad it is, and probably dremeling from there.

I’m very interested in switching out my buttons after seeing yours. I’m on the focus attack website. Can you tell me what i need to buy to get this done? Including wires? I’m fine with my stick right now but I want to change out the buttons. Thanks in advance!

Got my second Fighting Stick, this time instead of a V3, I got a VX and already went and did the bare minimum of adding a 5 pin harness and QD into it along with a custom graphic~

FIGHTING STICK VX - DA HOOTCHxMONSTER HUNTER Doujinshi Stick

I’m usually a Seimitsu fan(LS-56 and PS-14-KN in my VLX and Custom HRAP V3 box) but this time, I went with a JLF since I don’t want to develop a spoiled taste when I don’t have my personal sticks around(this and my TE Ibuki stick). The only problem with this stick is that unless I get it dual modded, it will be in permanent TYPE-C button config for SFIV.

I managed to get my gate drilled through, so now the JLF is fully functional and mounted without grinding problems! Given that I rather like the simplistic look of the default art, I think it’s safe to say my first mod is done.

Has anyone tried to mount their JLF into their Fighting Stick VX/V3 the way Laugh mounted one in his Paewang Revolution casing?

Where instead of drilling through the restrictor plate and having the long screw go through the restrictor plate, switches and housing; you’d just slice off a small section off of the black JLF housing, mount it using shorter screws, and pop in the switches-PCB and the restrictor plate as you would normally?

The standard JLF Install in a HORI Fighting Stick is almost like that.
There is an extra step.

Enlarge the four holes of the JLF Base so that the Screw Pegs of the Case can fit in JLF Base.
That way the JLF will sit more close to the Case.

Yeah like jdm mentioned, the holes have to be englarged so it will sit closer to the standard stick height. I trimmed the two notches off just because I had nothing to do to but didn’t bother to enlarge the mounting areas but yeah, without the top mounting plate, the JLF stick fits fine with no grinding.

The only difference is that I reused the screws that came with the FSVX and you can see that they’re screwed in between the microswitches and restrictor/gate.

Like this, huh?

I did that to fit a JLF into the stupidly tiny Intec Combat Stick.
Though this had the JLF mounted too high; I’m assuming if you don’t get the mounting posts all the way into the holes in the JLF top, it might be better height-wise.

When you install a JLF into this stick, Do you use the Hori shaft or the Sanwa?

Correct, it’s not really a big difference in height but apparently 24mm from surface of the case to the bottom of the ball top is standard.

Everything is all JLF, just remove the top mounting plate.

Hope this isn’t a silly question but would a Myoungshin Fanta stick fit in a Hori V3?

i can pretty much say for certain that they will not. people have a hard time just getting seimitsu sticks to fit without scraping the bottom. If by some miracle it did fit it would not even be close to mounted at the correct height.

Well, I don’t mind doing all the dremel work but what tool would I need to widen those holes?
