No, its all personal preference, most prefer to switch to disconnects to make future button swaps easier
Seems like Iām the first one here to get a defective VX. Mine came in Friday and I had nothing but problems with the stick. I was missing a screw when I unboxed it, then the X button was sticking and the Y and RT buttons simply donāt work. I opened up the case and found that the Y and RT buttons seemed burned out on the PCB. It was pretty annoying booting up the Xbox 360 with the controller attached and having it restart over and over because it was resetting the graphic settings. Should I return it or buy new parts and repair it? Iām tempted to just return it but waiting another 22 days seems like a pain in the ass. I wish people just refunded you and still let you keep the defective product.
return it.
Iām packing it up and I contacted the seller that I wish to return it. Hopefully the other stick he sends isnāt part of a defective batch.
yeah whoād u get it from? doesnāt sound like a reputable company if they sent you that (obviously preowned hardware), sorry to hear regardless but really ur only option is to send it back =\
I bought it from Amazon, it was a subseller named SethCo.
yeah that sucks, well in the last page or so there have been recent posts made that show other places u can get this stick from if u need to
Iām still tempted to swap out parts throw out the PCB and keep the stick. XD
so you wanna basically buy another stick?
Oh no, I was already planning on swapping out the parts for sanwa. Iām just upset that I got a defective product. Iām planning to return it just because.
yea, i generally will do the same.
i feel that if i pay x amount of money for this product, it should work out of the box.
even if i do have special plans for destroying it later on >.>
Exactly. Besides I could use those extra parts to make another stick. XD
i mean if the main pcb is good then no need to replace that unless that was ur initial intention, otherwise the fact that the buttons and the button pcb is screwed that wonāt mean anything if ur gonna just swap those parts out
pls do!
Is there a video on how to do quick disconnects? Iām thinking about modding this stick.
itās pretty simple, all youāre doing is extending the wires slightly and attaching the QD ends to them, if u need to learn how to solder there are plenty of youtube vids and also a FAQ stickied in Tech Talk. the only part that maybe confusing is what to do with the common ground (assuming youāre modding an VX), but the diagram posted in this thread shows the concept
it would be awesome to make a vid tutorial for VX and V3 with QDās for future modding⦠also discuss on what we need to do with the more confusing stuff like what original2k commented about common ground etc⦠pls help us 1st time modders out?
i used the reply function to show you guys what i was talking aboutā¦look closely at the second image, how the black wires going to the buttons are all connected to the same main wire (aka common ground), essentially your taking a long wire, splicing it into small sections and attaching QDās on the splitsā¦the reason itās a ācommonā ground is because the are all essentially a part of a relay starting from the same wireā¦the first diagram outlines the concept, just pretend the black lines are the ground wireā¦from there itās all technique in attaching the QDāsā¦i know for a first timer it could be confusing, iāve never modded an arcade stick but iāve wired car stereos in the past, itās the same concept
edit: iāve been waiting for my parts from lizardlick for about 2 weeks now, they told me that they should ship this week though, i wonāt be able to post a vid but i can try to take some decent pix as i do this mod
original2k, thanks a million
I have the V3. Is it the same thing or different. I have never modded before but i do know how to solder. QDs seems easier to do though if im going to be replacing parts.
