New Hampshire: The Sessions...Return of Salt Mines Starts 1/15/13

PS3 Stick shit the bed, anyone have one for sale that works?

I have plans the 18th for my 23rd bday, but since I’m going to Winter Brawl for my actual birthday, I wouldn’t mind getting some crack sessions in on MvC3 on the 19th/20th if I can find a way out to wherever it ends up being. Been way too long since I last saw the NH crowd.

Daaaaaaaamn, long time. Details comin Monday so make sure to check back. I posted some ideas for the days a few posts ago so chime in if you have any ideas or opinions.

I have a ps3 stick that I could sell to you. It’s the “S” TE that I’ve tried selling multiple times… It hasn’t been used very much.

100 bucks

Souper Bowl Tournament Feb 20th, $5 dollar MVC3 tournament to start since it’s new!

I do like the ideas for $1 tourneys/ranbats, and even the 2v2 idea, but I feel that this early on in a game’s release cycle, a lot of it will come down to who randoms out who with x tactic or y setup or z combo that was discovered mid match, etc. I think if we held off until Sunday for those, and got even more time in actual practice(not straight casuals, get srs) before that, we might each have something more competitively viable by that point. Another thing is that co-op training mode is always a godsend early on in a game’s life cycle, it was something the NH BB/GG community did the week of release, and it really helped our game, keep 2-4 setups for casuals/practice, and have 1-2 for training mode only, and then you can test setups, work on combos, get and give feedback, and that’s important to the evolution of the game. You might not notice it but when you’re trying to come up with a new combo/guard break/etc, with a training partner, they can be like “That 2C doesn’t combo, but it looks like 6C will” or “Starting that with j.A would give you more damage because you don’t need to ABC chain on the ground, the hit stun is longer, and it prorates less” in the case of Amaterasu’s C 2C loop or “That’s really unsafe on block, but if you call this assist, or change this normal for that one, you get a high low mixup, and it’s safer” because some of those things you won’t always notice on your own, and that could also be used to try and find counters to teams that we discover are dominant early on, and help build team dynamics if we were to do a 2v2.

Just my 2 cents.

by nh bb scene you mean, me and kraig. being we are pretty much the only two good bb players in nh.

Back when CT started up, it was Nazgul, me, Nuclear Cheese, Genstov came down from VT, and a few others. Then we were like “Fuck this, I’d rather play GG.”

I agree with most of what you said and especially like the Training mode only setups for an “endless” battle to figure things out. A couple of issues with holding a $1 tournament on Sunday would be time constraints since checkout IS Sunday (only paid for 48 hrs of time). Souper Bowl Tournament is also being held in Lowell that day so we gotta show AsianTom and crew some love.

As for “randoming” out, it’s honestly of little concern to me within a vs game given the options available (super jump, assists, counters, x factor etc.). While not a pro of MvC2 my skill far belies my knowledge of that game and can’t recall a dominating cheap tactic that dominated the scene. What I do recall is dominating “teams” and strats surrounding those teams. I am sure the same will go for MvC3 but after taking close to ten years to find Clockwork Strider-Doom or M.S.P, I am not worried about any of us finding the next big thing less than a week into release.

Random is is for SF4 where you can play a solid, skilled match and still lose to a mashing shoto, and any el fuerte, blanka, ehonda, and down-back guile. Still a fun game for some reason though.

X-23, Ama, Lei-Lei FTW…Rest In Pieces:china:

[insert dante phote]-bitch, i’ma getcha

that being said, does anyone feel like hitting up pwa today with me, being today is friday even if it is 4am

Oh my lawtown i had a nerdgasm, thats how excited I am

I liek everything including the aritnary (spelling) sounds like lots of fun. You can mark me down for a setup and two sticks as well.

As for BB i woudl learn it if it was in an arcade and was what was hype for sure.

I digress Im am super stoked hope everyone else shares my excitment !

Holy shit, when setting the date for Souperbowl I seriously forgot about the MVC3 room.

I’ll still be showing up! But I do feel like an asshole… unless your check out is at 11am then I feel like less of an asshole.

Either way, I’m pretty hype.

Amaterasu!

If you can AA and Block then the match is 100% guarenteed win against mashers or scrubs :stuck_out_tongue:

Dammit that’s what I am still missing in my game lol. No worries AT, “Marvel Room” is really only for people to come grind the game out and learn, which makes makes Souper Bowl Sunday a perfect means of showing what we learned. The $1 tournaments are really to add a less casual feel to the matches for the weekend and in no way an official tournament or even close to anything you would run at Souper Bowl.

Check out is usually around 11am-12pm so everything will be cool, I think maybe 5-6 people will be staying over the whole weekend. Since it won’t be in Boston anymore there will be less of a need to stay there the entire weekend, but people are more than welcome space providing…

On another note Tom I remember extending an invite to you, and cp at PWA a few weeks ago and to let the brothers stevens, and lucky D know as well. Hopefully they have gotten the message since I have no way of getting in contact with them lol. Trying to keep randoms from straying in since the room won’t be huge.:china:

if i am opening or have tuesday off, then i will host game night weather permitting again.

god damn kof13 looks amazing. I think i would severly enjoy playing as raiden, terry, and maxima. but yeah, that beast probably won’t drop until summer, easy. for mvc3 i will probably start testing with arthur and modok and complete my team with like… haggar, storm, magneto, or spencer when it drops. it would be nice if we sort of knew who people were looking at playing to see how much of the cast we can have being experimented with. Also, I have some stuff I’ll bring as prizes to sweeten the pot for our $1 singles and 2v2 tournies (lolz).

lastly, i’m back in lowell starting monday. might go to pwa in the later part of the evening monday night, like 8:30 or so.

tuesday is go for all who want to venture to epping

I’ll probably be down for that… unless, you know, 1) the tuesday storm is stupid or 2) the BB cab hits the floor of PWA by then…

Ok Gents, a little earlier than expected but details have been wrapped up and “Mahvel Room” is now officially a go for Feb. 18-20!!!:woot:

Residence Inn Boston Tewksbury/Andover
1775 Andover Street
Tewksbury, Massachusetts 01876

We have a 2 Bedroom Suite, almost 600 Sq ft, and it’s sound proof! Has a full kitchen, 3 tv’s (largest being a 37 in) one in each bedroom and one in common area I assume so we have a good foundation to work from in terms of space for setups.

Tomorrow instead I will be posting up the format for letting me know who is officially coming (needs to be organized), Setups (additional tv’s, sticks, consoles, games), and stocking that refrigerator we have in the suite. Enoy the Super Bowl!!:woot:

it’s supposed to snow tuesday? man i’m sick of snow, it seems like it’s just out to ruin my plans every tuesday.

as for marvel room, i’m already there.

Too good. Community Leader.
