New Gundam Vs. title countdown

Yeah, no, it doesn’t work that way. You’re the one who acted all butthurt over how I posted things. You could’ve just posted whatever you wanted like a decent human being instead of acting like a twat.

…no. You have issues man. I just wanted people to have something resembling a source when “what /m/ says” no longer leads to a link, because god knows, /m/ can say a lot of things. I think some of them might still be waiting for the PS3 port of Next.

I got issues because I’m not pmsing over some link a dude posted? I’m not following…

There’s still a difference, though. Or at least, there’s different circumstances to consider.

For better or worse, the PS2 was already on “borrowed time”, years ago. Bamco saw the writing on the wall, and so in 2007, gave Rengou vs. Zaft II a PSP port, to see if the market was there. Obviously, they were pleased with the results. After all, the PSP can effectively run PS2-level tech, and the PSP was much more relevant to Japanese interests in the wake of Monster Hunter. Match made in heaven, they didn’t have to worry about marketing to the PS2 any longer and Bamco took advantage of that fact for the last two updates.

With a game that’s going to be using the System 357 now, though, things have changed again. If 2ch and the like are anything to go by, there’s just a strong a force in Japan that would like the games to return to consoles, as well. If nothing else, for better looking graphics than what the PSP can render, and being able to use at least the DS3 controller, which is certainly preferable to the PSP’s controller scheme.

If these guys are loud enough, of course Bamco will have to listen. Or again, at the least, guarantee PSP and PS3 ports to satisfy both audiences.

New report that sheds a bit more light.

Well, no hope of 0G combat for us. Ah well… 8D

On the other hand, if they’re really making that much of a fuss over the fact that they’ve got so much more horsepower to play with, I wouldn’t be surprise if that would effectively close the book on a PSP port altogether (or at least, certainly anything close to “looks like a DVD!” looks, much less arcade perfection). But we’ll see…

Great stuff. Things like the Zudah (1000 Cost huge mobility but loses health as you successively boost more? HOT) make me so happy about the series’ evolution. Here’s to hoping they keep most of GvGN’s cast (but get rid of the stupid suits plzkthx).

I’m curious as to what a “ground based combat” “extreme evolution” of Gundam Vs. would look like, given that the series as a whole has had a heavy emphasis on air movement.

I can only guess that this would imply possibly more interesting ground techniques to be employed. Next Dash was what really did the most to change aerial combat a lot last time, perhaps its high time the ground game get some love too.

what does a gvg cab/control panel look like?

I’m still confused at how people are getting wet over a “PS3 port” over nothing.
Damn, are people this stupid?

Anyways, more info on the game, less dreaming, please!

Honestly, I hope Lovegety can afford the board.

Quoted for emphasis.

You’re reading it wrong. Ground-based combat as in combat with a set floor and set directions for up down, etc. Zero G would mean the game is more akin to a flight sim, fighting in 360 degrees and flying in any direction is what they are talking about, more or less. At least, I think that’s what they’re talking about.

What… the… hell…?

Anyways, it really does seem interesting how they are going to be more “ground base” seeing as how the current game is really mostly about punishing “landing” and what not.

Given that no Gundam Vs. game involves zero-G/space combat of that type, and that every one of them take place with a set floor and such, I don’t know why they would even mention something like that if it was just keeping it the exact same way.

Feds vs. Zeon, AEUG vs. Titans, and by default, being a compilation of the two, Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam all had Zero-G stages, actually. FvsZ had a full underwater stage that was neat as well, along with a number of other significantly underwater ones-AvsT only had one with any.

A lot of people didn’t like them and they were never seriously used for vs. play, but it was funny watching the replay cameras have the MS upside down. Pressing the jump button while holding down (or normally back) caused the MS to turn over and start going downwards, and when you stopped the camera would flip, and you would circle around locked on targets when jumping. I didn’t mind it, but it was harder to control exactly where you were going.

Anyways

Same setups as Tekken 6, obviously. Graphics don’t really look up to the hardware to my eyes though, but I guess we’ll see. There’s some form of NEXT dash in there, and they now have a universal command for EX modes like Trans Am, God Hyper Mode, and probably Unicorn Destroy Mode, F91 Hyper Mode, Crossbone Overheat, etc.

So the chances of a PS3 port coming to NA/EUR is like slim to none huh.

I heard from several arcade operators in Japan that Extreme VS’ price is RIDICULOUS. They’re saying it’s somewhere in the $100,000 range…

I imagine Border Break is super pricey as well, although I don’t know if anything but Sega arcades would have it. A PS3 board 4 player game was never going to be cheap, let alone with the Gundam name and the success of the Vs. series behind it. That’s still fucking monstrous compared to Tekken 6 (~$36,000 for 2x2 setup) though.

To think I was hoping that local arcades might rebuild to where they’d pick it up since there was apparently AvsZ2 hidden away where I was woefully unaware. Although without being on the ole’ 255/256 maybe Extreme Vs. was always going to be hopeless in North America.

Hopefully ~100k is for the 8 cabinets, in which case , well, after inflation and licensing it’s not too humongous compared to Tekken.

Would not surprise me. Bandai really has a cash-maker in the series what with GvG and Next doing so well. Good thing that in the urban areas, the game will make that money back pretty quickly. It’s the smaller areas that will be the problem.
