what im about to ask here is not about the game directly but evolves around it. my roommate lend me his xbox and i bought the cronus device adapter, that adapter is supposed to run on both systems and let you use ps3 controller on xbox and viceversa, but apparently it wont let me use it on xbox, apparently when it sync the xbox, says there’s an error and i tried 3 different xbox controllers and no luck… any ideas before i return it???
It has to be an original wired xbox controller. It can’t be aftermarket. Nothing by like Madcatz or anything like that. Go to Best Buy and get an original wired pad and it will work np.
that’s what i don’t understand, all of them all originals and they don’t work, maybe the cable???
Dude. Ask that in the Teck Talk section. They’d have likely given you a solution by now. People there are pretty smart.
Hey guys a couple quick questions.
-
What do you guys use as a quick punish (like whiffed lp dp) when you are outside the range of being able to cancel cl.HP into EX Palm?
-
What do you do on wakeup with incoming pressure other than block, backdash, ex tatsu, or the occasional HK/EX demon flip?
Almost always sweep…hard knock mix to follow, dash in cl st hk…
Whiffed lp dp means shoto, and all shotos lest i recall incorrectly whiffing lp srk would be susceptable to dash in>cl mp x2>sweep for max punish hard knock for that, spacing dependent.
Wake presh depends on specifics…some times empty jump towards, dj mp, dj hk…lots of weird shit. I guess, cr lk vs some…theres alot bro
Thanks, after the sweep punish do you mean doing cl st HK as a meaty?
As for wakeup I guess I need to mess around with jumping on wakeup more. I almost never do that with any character.
One last question. Do you ever use lp. palm outside of blockstrings or as a poke?
As a poke. Use it at max range. Doing it preemptively makes you formidable because that can stuff low pokes and it breaks armor so they’re going to second guess using focus. On top of which, the pushback leaves you at a safe distance.
mostly certain corner combos and empty safe jumps in cr.lk x lp palm as meaty low mix up, particularly when having super or u2 in the corner… as a formidable poke it has to less range considering a 9fr start up, imo.
1.Sweep
2.Kongo, focus, cr.tech with mk, take a throw instead of a bad guess and a huge combo…
lp.palm catches people pressing buttons after whiffed/blocked unsafe shit, but only if they are pressing heavy buttons. I also use it to build meter…lol.
Jumping on wake only works against throws. There’s some delay tactics that you can do in the corner but 99% of the time it only works against throws… Frame traps will blow you up for trying to jump out… Back dash instead if you need to get away.
Most of the time just blocking is the best option.
The tip of lp palm can beat a lot of attacks but a good use is against weak wake ups without ex. Bison, Sakura, Ibuki, Abel, Gouken… etc. etc. if you meaty lp palm them and they have no ex they must block or backdash… Both safe for Gouken.
Three questions:
-
Besides the forward throw > mk flip safejump, what other universal safe jumps do we have?
-
Am I right in thinking that EX.Tatsu, st.MK, cr.MK, st.HK and sometimes cr.HP are our main anti-airs?
-
What are some solid blockstrings to get down? The main ones I use are clst.MP, cr.HP or cl.st.MP, st.MP, cr.LK. Are there any other important ones?
Anyway, thanks in advance.
1)You can dash in >command dk and make it safe, you can get crossup mk to be safe on certain character…IAM or Dek09 are better for that info
- St.hp is a fearsome anti-air but you must know the ranges and the speed. Believe it or not, and this is weird, but I’ve used forward + mp as an anti air. It trades with a lot but it rarely gets stuffed so if they’re jumping in and you need that one last hit to win…food for thought
3)Actually, neither of those are “solid” blockstrings. They’re more like frame traps. If they blocked cl.st.mp, you have 4 frames of advantage. Cr.hp has 6 frame startup and far.mp has 5 frame startup. If they block cl.st.mp, the only thing that is truly safe is (cr or st) lp,lp, lk(cr.lk) string out. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do those strings you mentioned. You absolutely should because it catches a lot of shit. However, if Ryu is mashing srk, you will eat it. If he likes that and comes back fto feed you more, you are block and punish ready…right?
- You can safe jump after every hard knock down except gf grab. This can be done with command dive kick, normal jump ins, or gf dive kick.
While although not a cure-all once in a blue moon things like crossup meaties (char specific, situational, spacing dependent probably in some cases…)on our wakeup let us squueze past with dj towards hp.
Hes soooo oddd…
On a sakura wakeup lp srk i jumped in with a somewhat normal hp frontside and she went thru me lol…
Its that arthritis…its lolz
Corner only
[566] Gouken [charged LP Gohadoken, cl.HK, cr.mp xx Forbidden Shoryuken].
Number was acquired through math and frame data alone, there’s a chance I have miscalculated scaling or one of the hits on Super doesn’t hit at all as I don’t recall it being this much in the training room.
I discovered this corner combo on my own some time ago, but I forget if the damage is really that high. I’d confirm it, but my PS3’s been without an available TV for 2 weeks and will likely continue to be so for another 2 more.
Nope thats it…damage is true
When do I know that I should use cl. HK as AA?
This is something that comes through instinct. Luckily it’s something you can train yourself to respond to correctly. cl.HK only comes out when they’re close to you, but that obviously wouldn’t be useful if they’re already on their way down with their leg extended.
If you can immediately visualize their jump trajectory and you notice that the arc is relatively close to you (i.e above your head or anywhere in that vicinity), that’s your cue to use cl.HK. In other words, if they try to jump over you, use it. If they got some move that lets them come straight down (like Guy’s elbow drop) or they do some neutral jump shenanigans, use it.
Otherwise, cr.MK, cr.HP, st. HP and LK/EX Tatsu got every range in front of you covered.
