Gouken was doing ex palm, dash, j.mp, cls.mk reset into flip.
Is that character specific? I can’t seem to get it to work on other characters besides yun.

Yeah, its character specific. I dont know who else it works on but I dont think it works on about 85-90% of the cast.
This is indeed a character-specific demon flip setup for characters that have unorthodox SRKs. And by unorthodox, I mean SRKs that can’t be punished, avoided, or stuffed by Gouken’s more popular demon flip dive kick setups that work against true SRKs. It’s guaranteed based on the timing and distance.
Try the normal forward throw demon flip setup on Yun and you’ll see it doesn’t work. You get punished. Whereas with this setup, he whiffs or gets punished.
Try this on other characters where demon flip dive kick setups don’t work as well. One character I can think of off the top of my head is Gen. His ex SRK is too invincible and starts up too slow. I believe this Yun setup works on him as well.

EX.Palm - Dash - j.MP - cl.MK works on Ibuki, Gen, Yun, Dhalsim, Abel, and Yang.
I use LK.DF Throw in the movie, but you can give Yun anti DP and ambiguous DF.Kick using MK.DF.Kick.
I’ve been trying some of the safe jump set ups in the lab and I find that it stuffs a lot of the slower srk type moves (4 or 5 frame reversals). I’m not sure if I’m doing them right but when I try reversal ultra, I get hit by it. Am I doing it wrong?
Which set ups?
The ones that start with a sweep. Followed up by LK or MK flip kick.
May not work vs many ultras due to extended invincibility/faster startup. Are you hitting buttons after the kick? Sometimes I get hit during my follow up to the dive kick if I did the safe jump too early and it was just an empty divekick (in other words, I accidentally OS myself into damage). You might stuff a few ultras on some characters. I don’t have the info nearby but I know you can safe jump Claw’s U2…
Nope, I’m blocking all the way. I recorded it and tested on Yun with U1. The Ultra hit consistently. I’ll try and get some video of this up later. I think it gets hit by Seth’s U1 as well. I think you are right about the invincibility frames though.
IIRC, the ultra hits during the recovery frames of the dive kick. Funnily enough, that means that some supers are stuffed. I’ll have to check again later though.
I find that Gouken’s safe jumps are kind of strict. A few frames late and it’s an srk in my face. Would that be an accurate description of safe jumps in general though? I don’t know.
Just check the frame data, and know if the character wakes up early or late.
There aren’t a lot of 1-3 frame ultras on the game so you should be able to safe most of them.
The other part of the game is, try safe jumping them with j. Mk. to see if your dive kick timing is off.
Off top… Chun, Ryu, Gouken… Have 1-3 frame supers you can’t safe jump, hakans U2 which ever one that he lies on the floor, Tiger Cannon is strict, … I might be missing some more but there’s not too many more.
It’s been a minute since i tested Yun, but frame data should tell you.
I’ll test as soon as I can. I’m itching to find out if its my timing that’s been wrong all this time. Hahaha.

It sounds like your timing is off. Like IAM siad, theres not too many Ultras that have a 3 frame startup which is the only way you would be getting hit. I believe the only ones to watch out for is Hakans U2, Guys U2 (2 frames of startup and cannot be safe jumped), Rogs U2 (but is only 1 frame invincible so you may be able to kick him still) and the obvious ones in the counter Ultras ie Cammy and Fei’s U’2’s. If you’re going to practice I would practice on Blanka’s U1. Its a 4 framer so if you’re doing your dive kicks correctly you wont get hit (block low first). If you’re off by just 1 frame you’re getting electrocuted and that shit HURTS lol. They really need to nerf the damage on that thing.
Tried it against Blanka U1. I blocked in time. Using the same recording I got blown up by Yun’s U1. I think it has to do with invincibility frames and when the ultra actually hits.
What I mean is that when the ultra flash happens the other character is invincible sort of. And then those few frames later when the ultra is active, Gouken is in recovery. I’ll post a vid soon.

Hmmmmmm, this is very very very strange. Able to safe jump his 4 frame up kicks but get hit by a 9 frame Ultra? Wiki says 9 frames startup with frames 1-11 invincible. But Ryu’s U2 is 8 frames startup with 1-10 invincible and we can safe dive kick that shit to death. I do it everyday in training. Anyone wanna chime in with why this is so? I honestly have no explanation lol. It just doesnt make sense.
Did you keep input blocking after landing?
Dummy’s recording goes ahead even in the blackout of UC, so the Dummy might get reversals if you input block in short time.
Would you like to test record “Sweep - LK/MK.DF.Kick(4F safe jump) - keep guard in 3~4seconds” and use this recording against Yun?
If Dummy is still got reversal using this recording…we would need to talking about that…
