Anti Phoenix tech! Skip to minute 5.24 to check it out. Anyone think that this is a viable tactic?

any hit can lead into maximum spider, either DHCing into it or comboing into it with spiderman.

The way maximum spider works, phoenix will not transform into DP until the last hit, where she is slightly above the ground. From there, Xfactor into ultimate web throw is a guaranteed kill on DP. There’s nothing the phoenix player, good or not, can do to avoid the setup once maximum spider is in effect.

It’s less situational than I originally thought it’d be since it can be DHC into, and it doesn’t seem to matter if maximum spider overkills since it’s a cinematic hyper.

I can see some players trying Spidey in the second slot just to counter Phoenix, with this method, you wouldn’t need to spend meter on snap-ins since there’s no longer the necessity of having to kill Phoenix before 5 meters. This helps to ensure that you have more meter to spend on other ventures, such as the 2-3 meter needed for the DP kill setup.

the only downside to this strategy is two-fold:

you have to know how to play spiderman which is no simple task
in a decent sized set, the phoenix player can get wise to this strat and simply tag phoenix in with 5 bars. You will still kill DP, but you wasted your xfactor and they still have 1-2 characters with xfactor.

^that’s way too situational though in my opinion. Probably only works on random phoenix scrubs online or who use her as a 1 shot win button and have all the other people on their team only useable for their hyper meter. I mean you have to count on all 3 or all 2 of your characters being alive and all the other 2 characters on the opposing team being dead

I don’t really play this game, but that looked like a combo that sets up into inescapable chip. I assume that would work on anyone unless you can think of a way to get out of that.

They had a whole long ass tutorial on that on EventHubs weeks ago, that’s probably where he got it from.
