New fighting game releases vs tournament game selection

Dude what? GG players don’t have to like BB as it is a different game. They would rather have GG over ANYTHING else.
And if some people see MVC3 as a popular fun distraction, flavor of the month, it does not mean they think it’s amazing as a tournament game and that they will keep giving a damn about it once you give them better options.
Let me tell you a secret: The GG community just passes the time with whatever until a chance for GG’s revival. Whether it be a new title or a GGACOE or some shit.

Flawless-no. The best the genre has to offer at the moment-yes.
(note that games like ST and HF are now poverty status as well)

Which people? Which games? For what reasons? Don’t just parrot stuff you heard somewhere on the internet…
The only thing I see are people not thinking highly about Capcom games yet still playing them just because they are popular.

No, it means most of the community now cares more about brand name and characters than mechanics, which is something we already know. It also means that the herd effect is still going strong in the western scene. People let the casual potmonsters around them decide for them what to play.

Thank you for the link! I had no idea they actually put the list up on their website now.

This is what everyone in the thread looks like right now^

I wouldn’t trust those Arcadia popularity lists. Reno @ VersusCity once posted why they are inaccurate. There are sites (I forget) which have slightly different top 10s. A better reflection would probably be something like the average of all the lists.

People post what they have access to. If you have more sources by all means post them as well.

I’m not saying don’t post them, I’m saying don’t trust them. They only poll participating arcades. If an arcade doesn’t have a particular game, then obviously it can’t get points from that arcade. The problem is that you don’t know which arcades participate in the survey.

Amusement Journal’s top 5:

4 day Evo is coming.

Nesica could be so many different games this does not help at all…

They already revealed it as a 3 day event. What is your source?

Help with what? Finding stuff to argue about? There’s more than enough material on SRK for that.

These charts just give you a basic idea of what the popular fighting games are. If it’s on the list, it’s probably a popular game. The problem is you don’t know what their methodology is and which arcades particated. Do they calculate how much money a game makes in total? Number of plays? Are popular games that are only represented by few cabs (fewer plays cos people have to wait) rated similarly to games which are not as popular but have more cabs (more plays because more cabs are available)?

There’s even less point in arguing about the positions of the games in the lists themselves…

My source is one day in the future.

People taking my post seriously is making me sad.

Funniest quote so far
They should put this up on scrubquotes

if we all jump in my time machine now we can go back to 2005 and just play cvs2/mvc2/ggac and live happily ever after

but ggac was released on december 26, 2006 (arcades)

While we’re at it, we can make sure Ono suffers a “tragic accident”.

I’d like to hear your educated criticism about the game. Especially the latest version CSE. Ready, set, go.

its an animu game, so it sucks, lolololol

with that kind of logic, it’s like saying you dislike mk9 because it’s a “white man’s fighting game.”

I’ve seen both types of comments on this forum.

didnt you see the amount of people who said that mk sucks because only japan can do fighting games (and for some japan = capcom espcificaly)

i have seen worst, belive me when i say that people here on srk can come up with weird stuff to justify their hate on many games (even when many of them have not played them)
like boohoo, the game only has 3 attack buttons, OMG IT SUCKS
