Probably the same reason you’re pretending to be OG.
There’s only like, eight people in the country who play CvS2 anymore though.
Hyper Fighting is a shit game.
What exactly is the appeal of TvC? I’m surprised Capcom hasn’t tried to DMC2 it.

Ok, maybe I’m nitpicking, but it bugs me that you had to make a point that, even if you don’t like the game, you have to admit, the people who do like the game are enjoying the biggest, most successful community for it in recent SF history, but in the end that still isn’t very compelling to anyone who isn’t interested in the game.
Thanks for painting the picture of the small group of trolls on SRK, which I’ll concede, would appear to be the only group of people who don’t play SF4 if SRK is your only barometer for who plays what game, but they aren’t.
Apparently, more people on SRK should RUN TOURNAMENTS, however small, and MAKE FIGHTING GAMES, however shitty.
Capcom and the other developers, and Evo, are running businesses. That’s the bottom line. Nobody at Capcom is a contender at SSF4 at Evo, that’s not their MO. The guy who coded Juri’s standing medium kick doesn’t play SSF4 competitively either.
If you want to grow the scene in the direction you want, it might be time to stop theorizing and actually do something. Otherwise, you’re just an observer and what you want has no real weight.
EVO will become the tourney for mainstream FG’s. It will grow even bigger next year. Some of the players will obviously be disgruntled by the new corporate driven rules (eg. no unlicensed hardware), but they’ll continue to support it because it’s EVO. The final straw though will be when they change the layout and venue (Dubai, because it’s shinier). 30% of their supporters will desert them and migrate to smaller tourneys like Seasons Beatings. At that point, Kevin Rose will resign as CEO.
Wait… wtf are we talking about again?
i hope evo becomes the cpl 2.0 lol
Won’t VF:FS get an evo spot? I thought not due to SEGA being gay and not releasing it properly in the west… their stupidity has made me give up on VF… y stay loyal to a game that is treating it’s fans like shit?
some good games will be main games
some good games will be side games
haters will hate
Weren’t the evo games announced back in February? Tvc:USA was still new and people still thought they wanted to play it then. It at least clung to life until final round.
Btw, what were the entees for all the games? If tvc was not the lowest by a good margin, your point, even though I agree with you, is irrelevant.
It also does not hurt that the guy who posts 90% of the stuff on the front page of this site is a big tvc nut. Not that this is THE reason, but it didn’t hurt.
some good games… will be mind games
thats mind games is the O. Sagat of SRK trolls, IMO.
I’m also almost 100% sure that he’s polarity. >_>
You know i couldn’t find this information anywhere maybe i’m not looking hard enough but you’d figure it would be easy enough to find.
I stopped trying to understand TVC a long time ago and have just settled on the fact that it has some real life version of plot armor that won’t allow it to die no matter how outclassed it is.
James Chen’s Evo writeup on the first page seems somewhat relevant to this, although there still to me seem to be some logistic problems in the idea.

I love how registering at a single website is considered the be all end all definition of value. Are you tetched in the head?
We’re sitting right in the middle of a resurgence of the genre after an entire generation of budget shit like SvC and CFE and all you can do is whine like a bitch. Boo hoo.
But as for the topic, the only thing that matters for any tournament is what games get played. If there’s support for it it’ll be featured. If it’s not supported enough it won’t be. Simple as that.
herein lies the problem(hint: its you, try rethinking this statement)
cfj kinda owns idk what tigerman up there is going on about
I’m not just talking about how good the game is. I’m mostly talking about how it was pretty much dead on arrival. What does it matter if a game is good if nobody plays it? At least now we’ve got at least 10 games that have viable scenes to pick from. That sounds a hell of a lot better than a decade of TS and MvC2 with a handful of other games nobody gives a shit about. Fresh blood is coming into the scene. That’s not a bad thing.
what does it matter if a bunch of people play a game but the game is real shitty?
“Real shitty” on what scale? SFIV may not be the best entry in the series but it’s no Mortal Kombat: Deception, if that’s what you’re getting at. Games that are genuinely “real shitty” never ever get play. Obviously I agree that it’s not a good thing if the entire community is focused on a single game, regardless of what it is.
It’s not good if SFIV is the game but it’s equally not good if MvC2 is the game. Anything other than real variety means stagnation. And I mean that in terms of both individual games and publishers. It’s not good if every game is from Capcom. That drives people away as they just get bored. I’d play the odds that out of 10 games with scenes at least one of them will be attractive to me even if the other 9 are “real shitty.”
so anyway would you rather play a good game with a small scene or a shitty one with a big one please explain your answer
A good game that no one plays probably wouldn’t get a sequel, While a bad game that alot of people play probably would. Besides sequel there are other things to consider like sponsorships for events, or tournaments with 10,000 pots for one game.
Thats part of the purpose of this whole thread, even if all of these new games turn out to be hands down better than SF4, without any of them drawing the following of SF4 it may be a loss for the community as a whole. The actual quality of the game is definitely not the primary issue here.
