I’m not as hardcore as my friend and fellow SRK member Ibow2no1 who has all systems and an impressive library of games, but I’m a different sort of gamer. I get excited over Mega Man for NES as much people who get excited for the new Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto. I play games that people have never heard of or don’t give two shits about. It kind of pisses me off that a lot of people have forgotten their gaming roots.
Oh and FUCK YES you’re desperate. Personal Experience? You bet. I’ve done my fair share of it, but I’m getting a little better I suppose. I just finished my project in Journalism 311 about female characters in games. I did up a web site for it so check it out at your leisure:
I had my presentation today but I couldn’t get the web site up and running because the stupid net’ wasn’t hooked up in the classroom where we were. My prof is going to look at it later though.
Not too much going on right now. Just finishing up the semester and getting all of my projects done. My semester is through in about 3 days, and I only have 3 finals so hopefully it won’t be too stressful.
I played Metroid Prime for the first time on Friday, and I cried. That game is enough to make me trade in every other game I have (besides Super Metroid) and get a GC. I knew I was going to get one at some point but now I’m pretty sure I’m getting in January. I’m trading in the wretched mess that is MvC2, the PS version of MvC (since I have the superior DC version) and CvS. I don’t play any of them and all total, I’m looking to get $32+ in store credit.
MP is like heaven on a system. I automatically could use the controller, and I didn’t get motion sickness like I usually do from FPS. Being a humongous Metroid/Samus fan, I was skeptical at first about Metroid making the jump but I doubt Retro Studios no more.
Anyone else doing anything??

Our arcade is getting rid of MVC2 now:(. I don’t know what the fuck to say. I mean, all of those fucking ravers and Japanese car buffs get to have their sweet and precious DDR:wtf:. Btw, I’m not stereotyping with that comment. Pretty much all of the ravers/car buffs are Asian, white, hispanic, etc. Our arcade has no knowledge on how to run an arcade. Marvel gets them plenty of money especially from us regulars. All I know is that some dude bought it. Not a business or anything. Just some dude.
Damn, seems like someone is having a case of “I hate DDR-itis.” I’m not into the game seriously, but I at least can enjoy it in an arcade. I can’t say that I would be all that broken up about our Stankies (Frankies Fun Park) getting rid of MvC2 if it meant a DDR machine. Hell I had to fix it myself the other day, and I know next to nothing about switches in a machine.
Satomi, you have to face facts: MvC2 is 3 years old in February. The game is dying a slow death, but it’s dying nonetheless. Even if your arcade is suck ass, which I don’t doubt you on, it’s still got half a clue about what makes money. Now, since you say Marvel still makes them money, I would say I wouldn’t get rid of it; just put it somewhere less prominent but move the DDR games up front. It makes money and you can feasibly charge more for it since people aren’t going to pay $1.00 for MvC2, but would grudingly pay $1.00 for DDR.
I’m just saying that MvC2 has had its heyday and though it’s still popular among fighting addicts, it’s not going to make the money it used to, hence their misguided decision to take it out. I personally, like I said earlier, would have just moved it. Even as much as I can’t stand the game. The only redeeming factor for me about that game is the combination of Ruby/Doom. That’s it. Other than that, they ruined it for me with poor execution and some very lazy play testers not doing their jobs. MvC2 has so turned me against most Capcom games, I don’t know if I can get excited about All-stars. The only thing keeping hope alive for me is the fact that Akira from RS/PJ is in the game.
Anyway, I’ve gotten back into playing Guilty Gear X, and I’m getting to the advanced level of play. I have the import DC version, and I have to say that is one of the hardest games ever made. When you compare it to the American version, the A.I. is ridiculously slow but at least you don’t die within 3 seconds on Level 1 difficulty. I’ve been playing Venom and Millia but I’m partial to Dizzy as well. Don’t some of you play this as well?
