well, this came out in japan on june 28th, I just got my hands on it, so far it seems like a good game, it plays like KOF Maximum impact 2 IMO, and I was correct in my assumptions that fat buu would be high tier, this guy plays really well, and has a nasty cross up like Order-Sol’s.
FINALLY a decent DBZ fighter. This game is so much better than the other ones. I just wish the remove that silly block button (just holding back is what i prefer). I just got it so i don’t know if there are abusable moves. I just hope this games keeps getting updated and balanced with each new release.
anybody know where i can see some match videos? maybe tutorials?
What is the button layout like in the actual arcade machine for this game?
As for match vids, you can look at the links from the first post, there isn’t anything related to a tutorial, but someone can break the combo system down for you.
Super Dragon Ball Z is coming out Tuesday/Wednesday (pressuming 7/18 is the shipping date), can’t wait!
The only Dragon Ball Z Fighting game so far that I really liked was Dragon Ball Z 2 on the Super Nes (Import). You had to unlock Goku, ha ha! In story mode the main characters were Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks and Piccolo as you went through the Cell Saga and two of the movies, with Brolly being the real true/hidden boss like Gouki(Akuma). In vs. mode you had access to all of the villains in the game. Fireball face offs, Fireball block/cancels, a split screen when the opponents were far away, super combos with massive punches and strikes you could imput called Meteo Combos, this game was way ahead of it’s time. It’s too bad that back then hardly anyone in the US knew about DBZ.
Man you just haven’t lived until you’ve knocked out a Cell Jr. and he yells out, “JOOOOOY!”
From the looks of things it seems like Super DBZ is going to surpass DBZ2 in my eyes anyway. Cool beans!
That’s the thing. It seems only Freeza can play mix-ups because:
-Great projectile game
-Teleport ability (he can appear right in front or right behind the enemy)
-Attack that traps opponents in an energy ball is quick to execute, does good damage, is unblockable, and leads to further mix-ups (which is a combination of the projectiles and teleportation)
So, does anyone have strategies that work for every character that can defeat people who whore turtling?
And no, there is no block meter. And some characters have a counter skill that counters physical attacks (Videl, Krillin, Vegeta, Majin Vegeta) and everyone can inherit Majin Vegeta’s counter skill.
just been playing this today, I must say it shits on the other dbz games, the game structure is simple but it works well.
As sano was saying I’ve always liked the older dbz games on the snes that played more like SF, thats why the other games bar the GBA ones have been a let down.
This actually plays like the fighters we are used to with proper command moves etc, combos are basic you cant really mix that much up, Ive only played it alittle so cant speak for all the characters.
The roster is problay the only thing that disapoints me about this game, why they put chichi in there I dont know, but I guess the sequel will change that.
makes me wonder if their was a SF 4 would it have gone in this direction, yea I know ryu is not going to fly or change into super ryu level 3, but maybe the basics behind this game could have been in SF4, but I guess we will never know.
I would say you should pick this game up, its a decent fighter and problay the best dbz one out of the new ones.
