New DBZ Fighters: Chou Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z: Bukuu Ressen Official Thread

vegeta is more flexable tactics wise

my krillen vs majin V is simple. bt krillen vs V is a more mobile match.

my trunks vs V is easy. bt trunks vs majin V is hard

see the patern?

(vs mode not vs cpu btw LOL)

I haven’t played this game yet, but the idea of Trunks having multiple swords with different uses and physics (weight) effects intrigues me. Can someone explain them?

And is the Vegita combo in this practical? It looks badass.

Yeah that’s actually a pretty basic combo.

If you have the super cancel skill

Yeah of course but he only asked if it was practical. You can actually do more with it. Let the ram super hit 2 times then aim down at the ground to whiff the last hit so you land before him, then throw out a gallit gun.

I actually don’t like the super cancel skill, at least not on Trunks. Once you get the hang of some of the more advanced combos, there’s no point to SCing other than flash.

Any 17 or Videl users? 17 is pretty tight but I don’t think I’m using him to the fullest.

Also, between the two Piccolos, who do you all use most?

Alright…

I use Piccolo Daimao, for the pure sake of favoritism. I’m using Piccolo more often now (black outfit + cape + turban = win) and its pretty obvious he’s alot better. Especially since special beam cannon is by far one of the better supers in the game (its chargable, deals alot of damage, and is only a single hit meaning it will hardly suffer from damage scaling).

Already explained, but I’ll explain it again since I know alot more about Trunks than I did.

The broadsword will give you more action gauge, and the choice between his burning attack and higher ground movement speed. Burning attack can be charged, and its one of the projectiles that makes a force field. Plus, Trunks aims it right at the ground below him, so the force field can actually go around him, keeping him pretty safe. As an SSJ, the force field is obviously much bigger. If you choose higher sidestepping speed, you’ll have an easy time avoiding projectiles and approaching your opponent. Plus, I’ve avoided #17’s dashing grab, so thats a bonus.

The nodachi gives you better reach. And its not slightly better, its much better. You can use HH a little more often. Any lag after HH can be cancelled with a roll (hit up or down), so make sure you use it right before your opponent attacks. If they don’t attack, you’ll be guarding. Not a bad deal, but it can be risky. Plus, HH goes through projectiles, and you can cancel into his super. Its also easier to combo, and catch your opponents off guard with ff+L or ff+H.

The laser sword has the same reach as the broadsword, but the damage is noticably higher. The sword projectiles deal more damage as well. So if you combo , make sure you use stylish buster or one of his sword projectiles for maximum damage.

Its really easy to combo into that o_O
Oh, and in case anyone doesn’t know about Ultimate Gohan’s swords:

Golden Sword = Fast super gauge build, fast movement
Z Sword - Higher atk and reach, very slow movement

Use your swords wisely ^^
Oh, and I’d be careful with the weight increase bonus. Some of my combos actually land more easily on weight increased characters.

Mmm. Care to explain?

I finally got the game only to realize that it is nothing like a DBZ game. It’s more of a fighter than just a DBZ game, but the originality of it, plus the skill building is awesome. It’s quite fast paced and it seems that it can be taken seriously, competition wise, with a friend.

The combo I listed doesn’t need the super cancel skill.

^^ There’s my combo/mechanics guide. Suggests and comments are welcome.

Sure about that? If you ever land a starter, its bound to be L in most cases. Using Trunks’s LLHH JF is gonna set up tons of damage scaling if you try SCing. If you stick with LL into a single hit strong special move (like the first hit of flip slash, his sword projectiles) followed by slash break, you will do alot of damage.

17 and 18 are pretty damn strong in this game http://kainuma.sakura.ne.jp/dbz/

^^ The game is really well balanced. Every character seems to have a fair shot against each other. Except for Freeza, who pwns the cast.

However, it would be nice to have console footage because of the five new characters. Piccolo Daimao is nothing special (he was one of my favs too ><), but Cyborg Freeza, Majin Buu, Majin Vegeta and Ultimate Gohan are all very good characters.

Oh, and some of those match vids were amazing.

Dammit i don’t have winzip to view those >_<

When did Majin Buu become good o_0 He has weak range, his combos are meh, his specials are OK but not exactly great maybe except for his U D/D U+H/L as it is a good keep away and can zone well with it. His 720 is also meh, it has OK range, also OK damage for what its worth.

I just don’t see alot in Buu unless i am missing something.

OH MY GOD 16 is fucking nuts. i mean he’s like the fucking juggernut. damn wat are the teor’s for this game

Top tier:
Frieza

Mid tier:
Everyone else

It’s pretty balanced.

some how i knew frieza was top

I don’t recall mentioning your combo.

Sprawlers: But see, that’s my point. Once you get the hang of using Trunks’ JF string off of LLHH, that’s all I would do, pretty much (especially since you can hit-confirm it). The combos from there will do more damage than something like LL>specialXXsuper, so why would I bother wasting a slot on super cancel, unless I was lazy and didn’t want to learn the JF? There’s no point.

Eh… I don’t buy Freeza being top tier or the single person occupying the top tier spot. Although he has good projetiles patterns which can mixup with his teleport, the projectiles are easily destroyed by and explosion type projectile, and its easy to predict where he is going considering he only has a few teleport options. Other than that, his combos are generally weak compared to other characters, and he doesn’t have access to some really key strings that allow characters like Goku to gain (and have) meter nearly all of the time. At the very least, Freeza has other characters in the top tier spot; to say that he pwns the cast is pretty uninformed.

It’s not just that he has an amazing projectile game. Its his red sphere that seals the deal. It comes out extremely quickly, has superior range to a good amount of the Ls in this game (like Goku’s), unblockable, and leaves the opponent on the ground. It deals a nice amount of damage.

And it can be easy to predict Freeza’s teleport, but Freeza doesn’t teleport randomly. Teleports are used in conjunction with block stun from projectiles, and if Freeza sends his opponent flying, he can easily close the gap without having to dash, saving time and action.

Also, true that Freeza’s projectiles can be destroyed by force field projectiles. But not many characters have them. If every character naturally had a force field projectile, that would be a valid point.

I wouldn’t say other characters can be in the top tier with Freeza. I’ve seen advanced Freeza players winning against anyone who does not use Freeza because of his three deadly traits: red sphere, teleports and projectiles. Plus when he has the guard cancel skill, its not pretty.

Beast of Fire: When you use the LLHH JF, do you usually follow up with L+H then ff+L?
