New Chuns ask in here!

Back Fierce and Crouching Fierce stuff most of Elena’s moves.

Also, you need to kara throw from max distance (right when the shadows are touching) more.

Oh yeah, after super, against Elena, you can early SJC > LATE d.mk XX d.fierce. Nothing amazing, but does good damage and puts them right next to you with a knockdown.

so ur face, i dont know why i just realized this. gg’s for sure, our chun vs chun was just pure ownage, what was i doing wrong.

At least our Ken vs chun match was more entertaining

Haha, yeah. Everyone has this weird realization when they figure out my name.

Chun vs Chun is so weird of a matchup. I honestly think that most mindgames outside of zoning don’t really matter in a Chun vs Chun matchup, because you both have ridiculous tools and option selects in order to get out of any situation.

I honestly think the most important part of the match is pure concentration on poking. Like, cr.fwd XX Super should be your number 1 priority, as getting that usually wins you a round.

I’m not really sure though, as I am the only person around here who plays Chun, so I don’t have as much experience with the matchup as I would like.

And ggs for sure. I definitely want to get some games in with you if you come down to NEC.

im going insane trying to figure out the vertical wall jump with chun.
after looking at these vids more closely im pretty sure the other threads on this are just straight up wrong.

1:25-1:26

the other thread from vertical wall jump says that the input is wall jump THEN do d.mk and another command.
to me this video shows that that just can’t be true. chun is not in the d.mk command while in the air as Boss does a roundhouse on the way back down.

the input must involve the d.mk before the wall jump itself. this seems to makes sense to me because bouncing off the wall already during d.mk makes you go less horizontal anyway.
im messing around with it right now but it seems that the d.mk MUST be before.

edit:
lol seconds after i posted this i got it to work!!!
yeah im right its before the wall jump.
just d.mk ASAP after leaving the ground in a super jump. practice that first then do the wall jump and it should come out.
also when you are fully in the corner you don’t have to super jump towards the wall as far as i can tell. just straight up jump/superjump then do the d.mk -> downforward (away from the wall)

hey just wondering did anyone try the vertical wall jump?
ive been trying to think of good uses to make of it but haven’t played against people since i’ve been able to do it.
if anyone thinks of shit do with it post it up!

Dude I was trying last night and couldn’t get that shit to happen.

You on a PS2 or DC console?

i practiced it on PS2 and tested on arcade as well, its almost like a 2 in 1 or a combo with the timing.
theres a video of boss doing it that ill edit this post with a little later but it shows the timing if you listen to the “woop” chun makes from the d.mk

edit: here is the boss video. he does it allot in this , one specific instance is at 2:34.

my theory on how it works is that the j.d.mk animation pushes you into the wall so that by pressing away from the wall the wall jump activates. when you are trying to do it think of it like a normal wall jump only instead of using the point of contact as the signifier to press away from the wall you activate it yourself with d.mk then immediately tap away for the jump.
also remember to just super jump straight up and don’t angle it towards the wall. its kinda just about finding the timing, try to do it on the same point on the wall the boss does in that vid. if you notice he always does it in about the same place.

also one really small thing is that while the sound for the d.mk generally happens while doing it but many times when i was doing it no sound occurred. this should give you an idea about how fast you cancel the d.mk into the walljump.

can someone breakdown chun’s sggk(wat does it mean?)? like wats its for and how do you use it?

I don’t know wtf SGGK means.

Just focus on winning and you’ll improve.

Jeremiah is OWNAGE.

Just want to thank you for this one more time, it really has helped me - it really breaks down what you need to do to win.

Cheers

Everyone should check out this tutorial it is godly good luck to everyone I hope this video pushes everyone to improve.

I didn’t know where to post this, but I was just wanting some constructive criticism on my Chun Li. This is a more recent match of me playing on point.

At 00:50 you did 2 crouching shorts into EX SBK.

Use a low forward hit confirm into EX SBK instead. It combos.

^Thanks for the feedback, I’ll make note of that.

Dude I was playing did a lot of straight jump jabs… WTF is the point of this?

(BTW: I suck at this game, and he owned me up… 2 double perfects against my Akuma… I got three wins with Yang and one with Akuma in a set of 25 matches - he was using SA3 because he knew I’m scrubtastic at this game)

Sure thing dude.

BTW:

Nice av. Ninja Gaiden rules! :woot:

Does anyone have any info on Oro? I’ve been encountering some solid Oro’s at the past few tournaments, and I’m so unfamiliar with the match up. I’m not sure what I should be looking for except when he gets close to do the launcher into stomp combo. I feel like I can’t space him because of his mobility. The only thing I know about him are St. forward and St. RH are good pokes, and he has fairly weak damage with the exception of tengu stones and stomp combos.

Oro has a 100% damage Tengu Stone combo against Chun. HungBee used to do it.

Are they any good strategies to use chun without her regular super. I mean use like nr1 or nr3.
