New Chuns ask in here!

I was having trouble with Remy too as someone who never took this game seriously until OE got released. I’ve found that Remy just needs to be played more patiently, move towards them slowly and walk them to the corner. If they’re antsy you can can bait out a flash kick and punish. Otherwise, when you’re in poke range he’s got very little he can do against Chun’s normals.

c.lp -> c.mk/b.fierce
c.lk/lp -> grab/karagrab
c.lk -> close hk sjc super
he wont wanna get anywhere near u, also remys love to spam low pokes if u get anywhere near throw range, aka parry bait, and they will get scared if u parry c.mk even once in the matches, then u can throw them a million times

Thanks a bunch toastedsub and ryeyoo. I noticed my glaring problem was that I was turtling way too much every match that I lost, and every match I won I was walking him down and rushing him down with normals and kara throws.

Air throw, maybe. I like standing over my opponent.

I absolutely love c.mp. Besides the above, it also puts your hitbox into a completely lower state. I’ve used it to avoid SBK on wake up vs another chun then immediately punish their SBK with my own SBK. It’s also my go to move on throw breaks and a constant round finisher.

As for my own newbieish question. Can you SA2 throw Aegis Reflector on wake up? (when it’s place directly on top of you. I always try and fail, I don’t know if it’s not possible or if I just need more practice to do it.

You mean the unblockable? I’m not sure, but odds are Chun will still get hit by Aegis. Basically, if Chun can’t SA2 her way out of a corner Aegis, then the midscreen Unblockable setup is no good too.

just started 3s a week ago and yes I’m coming from the easy mode of 4 lol Does anyone know how strict the timing for her back fierce xx kikkoken xx SA2 is, when is a good time to use it and any other bnb combos I should learn with her?

Back fierce xx SA2 is pretty darn lenient, with the kikkoken you might have a little more time, build a little more meter and do a little less damage. Use it whenever you can, there are few situations where you don’t want to super when you can. Learn c.mk xx SA2 of course. I love close standing roundhouse superjump canceled into SA2, lots of time to hit confirm and it’s a good “mixup” compared to c.mk, for people trying to parry your shit. What system do you have and what’s your GT?

2mk into SA2 is obviously the most important thing to learn. (this means learning to properly hit confirm it) Chun doesn’t have a ton of bread and butter but does have a lot of resets. It’ll come with time, you’ll learn what can follow what up and when.

I got 360 and my gt is blublazr10 thanx for the info!

^^^add me APPLE 01 DOJ I’m pretty scrubsauce still but love every chance I get.

Hello everyone,

I’m not a Chun player, but I would like to know reason behind the seldom use of Chun’s crouching roundhouse. My friend and I play casually (read: noobs). He uses Chun Li and likes to spam cr.rh. It seems to stuff a lot of my attacks (Makoto), so I’m a little curious.

Thanks for the help. Sincerely,
Cong

It’s not overused because:

Can parry high low.
Easily whiff punished.
it’s negative on block. -7

Hello Ryan, thanks for your reply. According to the frame data, Makoto’s cr. mp has a start up of 7 frames. If my interpretation of frame data is correct, it means the cr. mp gains hitbox on the 7th frame after the animation starts. But I can’t seem to punish Chun’s cr. rh on block. Is there any standard ways to punish this move on block? Sorry for going off topic since this section is for Chun Li. D:

Thanks,
Cong

It’s either a very strict link or you’re reading the frame data wrong. As far as I know, the only thing that can punish her max range sweep on block is Chun’s SA2. You want to get juuust outside of her sweep distance and then counterpoke with cr.MP. This combos into Hayate, then you can link into SA1 if you have it. Or you can just parry it and punish that way too, if he gets predictable.

If the Chun does the sweep point blank, you could always SA1 her. That’s 55-60% because of crouch damage, and she was stupid enough to sweep point blank. :stuck_out_tongue:

cr strong is active on the 8th frame, from a distance your punishment options are pretty limited. Mainly adjusting your positioning to something more favorable. Parry it if you can as you get either a free st fp, dash in short karakusa or possibly a jab fuki if your close enough.

Doesn’t matter, figured it out already.
