ok, so i’ve been practicing with chun li, and i must say, she is a really cool character. i’ve tried to find as much as i can about her for the last week and i read the portion about not being able to do upper shom on sentinel. i recall in meikyosesui’s (excuse spelling) 9th combo vid, he does like every possible infinite on jugarnaught one cycle each. i’ve looked at it carefully saw the very first combo which was, s.hk j.f+hk ad.lk j.hk (1hit). i was wondering if this would work on sent? if this doesn’t work what about the very last combo (right after the launcher and before the supers start [it’s way too long for me to try to get all of that -_-’] can any of this work on sent?
btw on the regular uppershom infinite, i read that i have to get the first hits in the air to hit really quick (practically like not touching), so when i do this do i just push s.hk then push superjump and light kick together as one movement? (sorry i can’t try any of this myself, but i still don’t have access to the game and i use the arcade to practice)
o yea and what is the height limit (shortest possible character) that the ground infinite will work on or list of characters it won’t work on?
i’ve been reading about the “top 10 list” thing and was thinking about it. the main thing that i notice among the top tier that she doesn’t have (aside from what shin-chan had already said) is she can’t play any type of range game. magneto can just run in with ease, sent’s beam and drones, cable…, storm XDDDD, chun li has…a really cute fireball…a half screen slow dash…Of course she can alawys try to air dash and jump around, but it’s not as quick and is questionable on effectiveness. for now we can all argue though, that her ground game may be top 10, but over all is another story. keep in mind she’s competing against warmachine, ironman, doom, strider, spiral, and cyclops, all of which have some range game, and the other features that shin-chan said

Also as far as her air game…ummm she has one of the best air games of anyone. She can hit you from anywhere on the screen, yes I mean runaway storm, runaway doom, runaway fly mode mags, smart bomb throwing iron man, she can hit all of these people into an infinite into death and guard break the next character. She herself has possibly one of the best runaway games of any char. She can stay in the air for a whole strider activation and more. Think about being able to normal jump 6 times and call your assist at any point? You can force sent out of the air for free if you have capcom. If strider chases you up you can just call capcom. If storm or magneto chase you up you can just call capcom.
She has a better pin down game with an assist than arguably anyone but sent, cable, bheart, or storm. She hits overhead up to 5 times instantly. As of right now there are only so many places you can pushblock to escape her trap with drones, and right after you pushblock you still have to guess high low or else you are gonna be right back in it.
Chun is top 10 material. All she needs are more reliable strats against sim, bheart, doom, spiral, and strider. Not to many strider players in GA, i play the matchup whenever I can, and I only know one person who actually plays with sim when he is trying to win. So its a work in progress, but its gonna happen for sure imo.

I am saying that you can sj. lk, AD/F RH into infinite from almost anywhere on the screen. The method you listed will work as well, but with the sj.lk you can hit confirm into the rest of it, or else stay in the air, air dash, or jump away if it is blocked.
Also, she has triple jump, as well as a choice of Air Dash or Wall Jump. Wall jump if used resets your jump count, but you wont be able to air dash or wall jump again.
So you can:
Jump, Jump, Jump to wall, Wall Jump, Jump, Jump, Jump
Blocking the whole time with the ability to call your assist, as well as the ability to use Air Lightning Kicks to air stall.
I’d been watching that vid a few days ago myself.
The s Hk is followed by sj double jump f +Hk IIRC - look how low chun is when she does the first hit after the launch.

I don’t think anyone is actually close to landing a hit - Infinite into death then GB in match situations.
I do it pretty often at this point actually. I do it out of:
Random psy hits on anyone: This includes flying sent
Hit confirm s.mp on anyone standing
Hit confirm j.lk stomp on anyone crouching
sj. lk hit confirm on anyone but big 3
wall throw on anyone
guard break is j.lp + psy, so…I dont really ever miss that part.
Not to say that I never mess up. Its still hard. But ive only been working on it for a couple of months now, and I already do it in match. I know if I put everything into her it would be that much worse. I would say about 3/10 times I land a hit I take it all the way. But she also has pretty good resets, and I use those alot too, so you would have to add that into the 3/10 equation.
I support you and anyone else who can take it all the way, but like Augmint has been saying, it’s nice to see matches and its application. I think you, if anybody, could do this. But just to be fair, Strider/Doom could also be a ‘perfect character’… the realistic fact is that nobody can play that perfect all of the time (which is one reason Sentinel is #1. make as many mistakes as you want, and rarely does it get you killed). IronMan also has a ton of touch-of-death infinites that are 10x easier to setup, but I’ve seen even the most experienced IM players mess up at one time or another (let alone if it’s a sj cancel infinite). It just doesn’t look good for ChunLi.
Please bring this level of chun li to Evo and perhaps more people will pick her up. I’m just surprised the likes of Justin, Sanford, or anybody else technical on the west coast hasn’t picked her up with her kind of stats. I wouldn’t doubt you would inspire them if they saw you do some of the awesome stuff you’ve posted.
er…i’m kinda confused about the aerial assist thing. i know i’ve seen it done, but i’m not sure when it actually works. can u assist with every jump? or is it the stomp? maybe the dash? when can u assist in the air?

You can call your assist anytime you are in normal jump mode. The kicker is, you can normal jump x6 with the use of wall jump, so one way to get to sj hieght with an assist call is to jump jump jump wall jump jump jump jump. Call capcom whenever.
Also, her (down) + Roundhouse normal. This stomp puts you in normal jump mode on contact. This allows you to call your assist mid combo after a super jump.
hey, so i haven’t been to the arcade for a while until like 2 days ago, and brandon (demon hyo) was there. i tried all my high tier teams and realized gettin rushed by his msp sux XD. he knows how to manuever over captain commando, and cyclops (the only 2 main assist i know how to use). the last 2 game i played against him with sent/mag/chun. here are some interesting/helpful things i picked up when i played him. 1. when chun li is an assist, she will follow the character. in other words, if his magneto does a jab, and tried to air dash behind you, chunli will change her route and go towards that direction. it was pretty helpful in pushin him away and making him rush me less. 2. chunli can kinda avoid guard breaks, and possibly crossups when the charcter is running solo. so when brandon gets real agressive, he’ll guarbreak my next following character. i noticed if i stomp (d+hk), she avoids the common mag guard break. as for when he goes for the air jab, psylock assist guardbreak, chun li will stomp on mag, and avoid psylock. of course if he just waits, predicts this, and uses psylock when u come out, then u’ve messed up there (of course it’s better then waiting to get guard breaked). well that’s it for now, and thnx for answering me back RisunoMeijin
Yeah man of course, im glad you are trying her out. It takes brave people to try and beast with chun as of now.
I think you and everyone else will be happy to know that ive been working hard on recording match footage and also recording a combovid/tutorial on chun which involves using her with pretty much every decent anti-air assist in the game.
So hopefully around the end of this week we will have the vid and around 6-10 matches up.

I hated the fact that it took me 3 hours to get the dash combos. It was so stressing.

Oh and i don’t know if this has been posted but the Stomp does not work on Sentinel as an air combo. Kind of stupid if you ask me.
I have a question; does any Chun-Li players use her fireball frequently for zoning purposes? I don’t think it can be comboed, but can it be buffered off her mk like in Alpha 2? I have trouble getting in with Chun Li to begin with.
